I appreciate the fact she says it was unbelievable that the Garp could travel 80km a day. It means it is historically true and not semi mythical. Many people can do that distance nowadays, any semi decent marathon enthusiast can probably complete task but to do that without proper road and modern footwear, deep in mountainous thickets is definitely a godly feat in any day and age.

How are you able to make that much with Mr Sam Deymon....trade.

It would have been good if the BBC had shown the actual road map of what the trail looks like instead of this straight line graphic with symbols for different locations.

My wife had traveled around the world and says Bhutan was her most extraordinary trip.

Bhutan is absolutely one in my list for travelling. As a nature lover, that trecking is now become my dream.

I visited Buthan almost 20 years ago and it was one of the most wonderful and moving trips I have ever made. I hope to go back.

This would be a trek I would love to do from beginning to end. So beautiful.

To make this a news story, I wish the BBC had asked questions like, have there been plans made to keep international tourists from destroying parts of the trail by overuse, excessive consumption etc. For example are there quotas or limits to how many can be on sections at once? Will we be helping the economy by booking trips or is it something that only rich travellers who hire guided tours can do. I am excited to hike this trail but I wish there was more information in this otherwise beautiful video.

The ancestors rarely had connection with other villages because they were able to be self sustaining. It is only rarely they would travel for reasons of pilgrimage etc... Even in Europe before vehicles people would live in a village for their whole life without leaving it. Engineering and Technology has allowed the masses to move around so freely. Only explorers would travel back in the days, they will be gone for weeks, months or even years due to the lack of infrastructure.

Don't you need to pay the government $200 for every day you spend in Bhutan as a tourist? Not exactly backpacking-friendly.

A lovely country I dreamt of to visit , but I cant do trek for lengths and hours. Maybe on its villages can be reach by vehicles. The preservation of nature as its ones of its priority attracts me , and its culture of simple life not so tempted with materialistic and consumerism lifestyle.

I've been tp Bhutan end of February. It was wonderful and Tigers Nest was a highlight for sure. I'm just a bit worried for this trail as the money to enter Bhutan is very high. Paying 400 dollars a day is a lot of money for anyone.

I read that migrating tigers from Burma and Ahom infested this part of Bhutan and accounted for several human victims in the 18th and early part of the 19th century …very sad ..anyway it’s good to hike this trail before the communist Han Chinese infiltrate and claim the trail as theirs
