At 54 yrs young I grew up on chocolate gravy as a Saturday/ Sunday morning treat every Summer staying with my grandmother. We're from middle TN born and raised here and it's a classic Southern Heritage part of our lives. It was special❤

I was born in southern middle Tennessee and we’ve been eating chocolate gravy forever! I make it every Christmas Eve breakfast. Try this recipe! Ingredients 1/2 cup real butter no substitutions recommended 1/4 cup cocoa 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 3/4 cup sugar 1/4 cup self-rising flour 3 cup milk Instructions Melt butter in a saucepan. Add cocoa, flour, and sugar. Cook two minutes. Add milk and whisk. Bring to boil and boil 2 minutes. Reduce to simmer and add vanilla. Simmer until thick. Cool slightly. Split biscuits then spoon chocolate gravy over the top. Enjoy!

We were raised on chocolate gravy and biscuits. I guess it must be a regional thing because here in Alabama, it’s easy to find. So glad y’all got to experience it! Love y’all! ❤️

I was raised on chocolate gravy and biscuits. The way we had them was mama cooked a huge pan of biscuits and we split them open and buttered all of them right in the middle, then she cooked a great big pot of chocolate gravy and we would chop the biscuits up all over our plates and then pour that chocolate gravy all over them. We would have sausage or bacon or ham with them but I tell you sausage chopped up and sprinkled all over the top of that gravy really set it off from everything else. I raise my kids on it too and they still love it to this day. Everybody we knew ate chocolate gravy. At least on my daddy’s side of the family. And my daddy side of the family was all over the Holler that we lived in and in Summertown and Lawrenceburg which were the two cities adjoining, one on each side of us. Love your videos. Food looks great and a petfect place to go. Chocolate gravy is an old timey, easy to make Southern dish. Usually, you pour the gravy over the biscuits like you do white peppered gravy. Also, look up tomato gravy online. It is also a Southern thing and very good. Tangy, but good. Nancy from Arkansas

Oh my goodness….I LOVE chocolate gravy and my mom made it every Saturday morning when I was growing up. I can’t believe you have never eaten it!!!! It’s delicious!

My grandmother would make chocolate gravy when i was young but hers was called Poor Do . They were so poor they made Do . Ours was not thick. She used butter, cocoa powder, sugar,and vanilla , made a roux... and thicken with flour but ours is a thin gravy. Pourable. The best for buiscuts and pancakes

wow ya the store is kool old school very neat . that diner very kool little place , looks like good food too, i wish you had done this video last week we were down in the Pigeon forge area we would have gone there but we had to leave last Thursday, gotta tell you guys though we loved it down there and we will be back. that store / mill and diner will definitely be going on our to do list for next time. good video , enjoy watching keep them coming so our list can of things to do will grow. thank you an God Bless

Christy i would love for you to try my Moms Chocolate dumplings they are awesome. Being from South Carolina this make the best chocolate gravy. We also call them chocolate rolls. We will be stopping to eat at Owen's this Thursday March 14th. I just love you and Brooks. Have a Blessed Day
