Historical Gurdwara Sri Moti Bagh Sahib Patiala is situated in the Patiala City.When Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji started his journey towards Delhi, Guru Sahib came here via Kiratpur Sahib, Bharatgarh Sahib, Roap Makar, Kabulpur etc.
Nawab Saif Ali Khan, a pious muslim and an ardent admirer of Guru Tegh Bahadur, had met the Guru earlier. Guru Tegh Bahadur arrived at Bahadurgarh to meet his old friend on 16 Har 1732 Bk / 14th June 1675 and stayed in the Nawab's garden, which now exists as Saif Ali Khan asked Guru Tegh Bahadur to stay as long as possible.
At the Nawab's request, Guru Tegh Bahadur stayed on during the rainy season for about 3 months. On several occasions, Guru Tegh Bahadur held diwans inside Bahadurgarh fort so that the Nawab's household could benefit from the Guru's darshan and discourse. Guru Tegh Bahadur left Bahadurgarh on 17 Assu 1732 Bk / 17th September 1675 to continue his travels towards Samana via Gurdwara Sri Moti Bagh Sahib Patiala. After stopping here, Guru Tegh Bahadur left towards Samana and stayed in the Haveli of Muhamad Bakhsish. From there Guru Tegh Bahadur left towards Cheeka via Karhali, Balbera. Travelling with Guru Tegh Bahadur was Bhai Gurditta, Bhai Dyala, Bhai Uda Rathor, Bhai Jetha and Diwan Mati Ram.
