The entire novel series is collectively called “A Song Of Ice And Fire” but no individual book carries that title. Book 1 is “A Game of Thrones” Book 2 is “A Clash of Kings” Book 3 is “A Storm of Swords” Book 4 is “A Feast for Crows” Book 5 is “A Dance With Dragons”. Book 6 is “The Winds of Winter” Book 7 is “A Dream of Spring”. Books 1-5 were published from 1996 to 2011, the same year Season 1 of the show came out, and he hasn’t completed books 6 or 7 since then.
Anytime I hear the detailed Lores of GOT i just can’t believe all of it came out of GRRM’s imagination! It’s sooo detailed lol and intricate lol the world building is crazy!
To answer your questions about the swamps: The Crannogmen are ruled by House Reed (vassals to the Starks) and live in the swamps of the Neck in crannogs (floating houses on water). The Neck is a narrow piece of land that separates the North from the rest of Westeros. The only way through is near Moat Caitlin, the moat the Iron Born were holding in Season 4 that Theon/Reek tricked them into releasing.
What’s sad is that Rhaegar was literally gonna take down his crazy father but Varys told and he didn’t trust his son anymore . So Varys is not as good as the show tried to portray him to be since if he really cared about the realm he wouldn’t have let so much happen but he likes to be in control with his knowledge and prefers rulers who are simple minded like Robert
If you look at all of Varys early scenes or how Jaime described Varys during Aerys reign to Brianne, I think he was Always on the side of the Targaryen’s, not “the realm” like he claimed. He wanted to replace Robert Baratheon w/ Viserys.
Taking “Aegon” out of the show ruined Varys because his motives make zero sense, he didn’t serve the realm like he claimed, he just liked being the one pulling the strings. Would Rhaegar have been a good king? We don’t know but he would have been better than Aerys

I definitely wanted Roberts rebellion live action. I was so sad when it wasn't in the works when all the spinoffs were happening. I was so mad we got House of the dragon but I love it now. But Roberts rebellion would of definitely been the best spin off
Littlefinger keeps saying "impregnable" because he's mocking the Vale. The houses of the Vale love to call themselves impregnable just like Lannisters brag about paying their depts. Also, the show doesn't really cover this, but Littlefinger got Lysa Arryn pregnant when they were teens, and Hoster Tully made her drink moon tea to get rid of it. Littlefinger also eventually killed Jon Arryn and took over, so he literally impregnated the Vale. This is why he relishes the word so much.
In case it didn’t post before you should buy a book called the world of ice and fire wellz, it’s by the original author and covers just about all the lore of the world, ancient magic, houses, castles, pictures of prime Valyria, creatures etc.
the dornish are westerosis with the biggest essos culture but Dorne isnt in Essos. they leave it out of the show but when the kings says his titles he is the king of the first man (north) the andals(south) and what they left out is the rhoynar (dorne) the rhoynar are essosis who fled essos during valyrian rule. they landed in dorne. and the the princess of the rhoynar who was their ruler married the martells and the martells adapted the culture of the rhoynar. the seven kingdoms is actually 6 kingdoms and a principality (their rulers arent kings but princes).
