My Opa (Jan Aarsen) was a Psychiatric nurse at the hospital before, during and after the war. There is a picture of Opa and his graduating class from 1923 hanging in the museum. Opa and another Nurse evacuated the patients when the Allies were bombing the surrounding area and Wolfheze. There is a scene in the movie, "A Bridge to Far" where the patients were running through the forest and which my Opa was involved in. The Allied effort to push the Krauts out of the area was called Operation Market Garden. My Mother and her family lived close to the Hospital at 33 Heelsemseweg St.
