Meaning that because a plane engine is a million times more power than a car engine it wouldn’t stop in enough time and you would still end up crashing regardless. There was one near miss at SFO that was so narrowly avoided that could have ended up being 4x worse than Tenerife. Four large passenger planes lined up on a taxiway and one plane landing mistook the taxiway for the runway and almost landed on the four planes.
For those wondering why "shit" is so bad to hear from ATC. Those guys have to be as calm as a monk. If you hear them change their tone once, something disastrous has happened.

For those who don’t understand: one plane was taking off and another plane was getting ready to also take off. The plane that was taking off couldn’t pull up enough and crashed into the top of the plane. 584 passengers lost their souls

The reason why “history almost repeated itself” is because, in 1977 in the Spanish island of Tenerife, two Boeing 747s (KLM Flight 4805 and Pan Am Flight 1736) collided and claimed the lives of 583, only 61 survived.
For those who understand: So When the ATC said to the american airlines go to KILO "a taxiway" and go to RW 17L the american airlines pilot misunderstood what the ATC said and actually got to taxiway CHARLIE "i think" to go to RW 35R, when the delta airlines was gonna takeoff the american airlines crossed the runway while the delta airlines was about 60-70 KTS the ATC said "Delta 1943 cancel takeoff clearence" and history almost happened.
Family tried to tell me i should be an ATC because it's a good career. I declined as I was not mentally ready to carry millions of lives on my shoulders. One mistake on this job & people aren't making it home
@hrikissenpai7369 millions of people fly thousands of miles everyday, the least busiest airport usually has at least three moving aircraft at ALL times and a busy one? Well just look at the video, each plane has a usual passenger capacity of 100-150 and some can even carry up to 400 passengers, so yeah, an atc person does have millions of lives resting on their shoulders, one wrong move and a lot of people could die.
@@blackdragongamer097 Yes if you fuck up, at most 600 something people die, and then you forsure get fired on the spot, sued and incarcerated. Definetly a heavy burden, but millions of lives is just exagerration.

People like this deserve all the respect from me. Without them so many people wouldn’t be here today and make things so much easier. Not only that but the skill it requires to do this. Always being on edge for hours unable to be caught lacking for a second is crazy. Yeah and it's actually the single deadliest crash (apart from terror attacks like 9/11 of course) s far as I know. I think there were 550 casualties (somewhere in that ball park). A true and absolute disaster
The reason why the video said “history” is because this has actually happened before. On a foggy day, a pan am 747 was taxiing on a runway because that airport was to small and it was congested with other aircraft. The pan am 747 was lost in the fog, not knowing where the exit to the taxiway was. The KLM 747 was waiting on the start of the runway, misunderstanding the ATC and beginning to take off. Until they saw airplane lights in front of them, they immediately tried to pull up, tail striking in the process. The Pan am 747 saw a KLM 747 heading towards them and took a hard left on the runway, trying to get out the way. The KLM was dragging its tail across the runway, losing airspeed. That’s why it couldn’t just takeoff. But it then started going airborne, and lifting off the runway. But it was far to late. The KLM slammed into the PAN AM 74’s side, before crashing down, exploding in flames. Fire rescue crew didn’t save the KLM because they knew it was to late for them, as the KLM Just refueled today, that being said why it’s in flames. 586 people died that day. R.I.P

If I was a passenger on that AA flight and I looked out the window to see a plane heading towards me at takeoff speeds it would be the last flight I took for a damn while. Jesus that would scare the life outta me.
For those who don’t know: When the tower said “Shit!” The supposed reason was because they were going to accidentally do a sequel to the Tenerife airport disaster, when 2 planes collided in of course, a airport. A Tenerife airport. They thought that the incident would happen again and told them to pull up so it wouldn’t repeat.
For people who don’t know: this video was referring to the Tenerife Airport Disaster. In 1977, the Tenerife airport was extremely foggy (around 100m of visibility), the 2 b747 couldn’t see each other on the runway. When the klm flight 4805 was taking off, the klm 4805 couldn’t stop in time so they crashed into Pan Am 1736(that’s crossing the runway just like in the video) causing 583 people losing their life. This made the disaster the deadliest plane crash. The reason why they crashed is because of an misunderstanding between the klm and the atc.
