Historical Society of Bloomfield Trustee Rich Rockwell presents a new program on the photography of Charles Warren Eaton from 1900 to 1925. Rockwell discovered a set of over 1,000 negatives of Charles Warren Eaton’s photos of sites in Europe - Bruges, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands - scenes of canals, windmills, architecture and street scenes. Eaton lived in Bloomfield from 1887 until his death in 1937. He was known for his intimate landscapes in the Tonalist style and was particularly known for his pine tree paintings. He used his photographs as models for paintings back in his studio in Bloomfield. He was a protégé of George Innes. Rockwell will showcase photos of Eaton and his home in Bloomfield, and some of the photos corresponding to paintings derived from those scenes.
