The Pazzi conspiracy was not only the work of the Pazzi, but of several other families as well.Specific business dealings, law, and decisions about estates all played into the conspiracy not merely personal relationships.
-Jacopo's death was gruesome as mentioned in the video. He was hung next to the decomposing bodies of his co-conspirators including his nephew. After being dug up and reburied, children dug up his body again, knocked on the door of his relatives, and left his head on the stoop. After, his body was thrown in the river.
-Clarice and the children were not in Florence at the time of the assassination attempt. Lorenzo was helped into the sacristy by Poliziano and other friends. When he exited, Giuliano was already dead, his body gruesomely mutilated. Lorenzo's friends shielded him from viewing his brother's corpse, but Poliziano saw it and was disturbed by the sight of his friend's corpse for the rest of his life.
-I'd also like to add "Magnifico" by Miles J. Unger to the list of recommended readings. I came across it by chance at the library after making this video, and absolutely love it so far.
-Piero di Cosimo was only a d*** according to some sources. In others he was mildly annoying, so take that as you will. I think he was pretty punchable personally.
-Along with unaffectionate letters, Lorenzo was referenced as being "sincerely but not passionately attached to" Clarice in a letter written by a third party after her death. For all we know, however, they were just laid-back people.
-Simonetta Vespucci "La Bella Simonetta" was the cousin-in-law of Amerigo Vespucci. She died at 22 of tuberculosis. There's no evidence to suggest her husband abused her in her final hours like he does in the show. There's evidence to suggest that Botticelli had fallen in love with her, but none of a suspected affair.
