Morning, Richy! While some probably won't enjoy this vlog, I found it really interesting. Lots of history, and great that they display all of that at the station. Such a history, and we only ever consider the current day, so it's great to see the development and what once was a long time ago. The bus service doesn't look like it has changed since '66 though 🤔 I wonder when the public changed from using personal cars, to motorbikes and tuk-tuks? Thanks for taking the time to film and share this, Richy!

Hi Greg, I was doubting putting this out but like you said some people like us will find it really interesting. I’m not sure when they switched to bikes etc, presumably as the city grew it makes sense to get about easier. Thanks mate.

I worked on some of the fan ventilation system for MRT at the Rachadadispisek section 1n 2001. Amazing depths were reached considering Bangkok is only a couple of feet above water level!

The story of Darlington’s association with trains dates back to the early 19th century when George Stephenson, a local engineer and inventor, designed the world’s first practical steam locomotive.

Richy I forgot to mention. You spoke a couple of videos ago, you wanted to go to Ped Marks. That is open again. Certainly no renovations to the restaurant. They are doing stuff around the back. BUT... he has a burger restaurant on soi 28. Not sure anyone has ever done a video there.

Good day Richy. Hope you are well. Just wanted to know whether you are now fluent in Thai. Is there a Software where we can translate easily? I am Burmese born but English fluent. How easy is it to read Thai language? Visiting Bangkok soon. Cheers

Do you really think the MRT system is better than the London underground? 272 stations compared with 20 or 30 on the MRT Plus, the newly built QE2 line, that alone has 42 stops on it. I don't understand bigging up something that is nowhere near as good as what is up against it. Plus the underground is well over 100 years old compared to 20 for the MRT. The underground is one of the best systems in the world. Far superior to the Bangkok transport system in total.
@ParkinsonRaw
@ParkinsonRaw 4 месяца назад
I’ve always thought they were similar apart from the price to be honest Tim, very cheap and you can be anywhere in the city within an hour.
@senianns9522
@senianns9522 4 месяца назад
London's systems were dug underground in a soft clay chalk earth mixture. The MRT was built overground in the midst of one of the most busiest and bustling cities in the world! Plus MRT had to negotiate all the klongs! London --only the Thames--digging through clay was quite safe and easy!
@timwalker2458
@timwalker2458 4 месяца назад
@senianns9522 are you off your meds ? The MRT is the Bangkok underground system. Did they built it above ground and then bury it ?
@timwalker2458
@timwalker2458 4 месяца назад
@@ParkinsonRawget maps of the 2 and compare. One is like a lego set compared to the other. A history buff should know this.
@timwalker2458
@timwalker2458 4 месяца назад
@@senianns9522p.s. it's not hard to divert traffic. That is being done worldwide. Because it is a darn sight easier than tunneling underground.
