@Paulthored
@Paulthored 3 года назад
And the most Amazing thing about that? Judging by discoveries like the Dead Sea Scroll's, it's something like +94% accurate translations!! At the Least! With most of the mistranslating being in translating word concepts into different languages. Languages, that may not have those specific concepts. Most good translations make note of this in their footnotes. Otherwise, it could be literally translated verbatim (ie: Word-for-WORD), from the historical copies into our modern ones.

@BalkinDry Actually, Brother, the Books which you judge and pontificate (i.e. as self-proclaimed Pope) as "not inspired", per your implied pontifical-infallibility, has - long long ago, when there was no False Church - been Infallibly declared as Divine Revelation, Holy Writ, by the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, established by our Lord God Christ Jesus, Who gave Holy Mother Church (only One) the Keys to the Kingdom, the Authority to Bind and Loose on Earth and in Heaven, Protects always from the prevailing of the Gates of Hell, Holy Ghost-Promised to be led to all Truth, established His Authority in Apostolic Succession and Whom Jesus, King of Kings and Lord of Lords Promised to be with until the end of the Age. Each of these essences of The Church Which Christ Established is clearly conveyed in the same Verbum Dei. The New Testament, Christ's own words, those of the Apostles, Evangelists, and Disciples quote from the Septuagint, including its Deuterocanon. It is all on the web and in Scripture Scholarship everywhere. BTW the way, please remember all Scripture regarding false prophets and false teachers. Unchanging is our Lord God and His Church. Jer 6:16-17; Mal 3:6; Heb 13:7-9; James 1:17 Pax Christi
@BeastofBrooklyn
@BeastofBrooklyn 3 года назад
@BalkinDry It is bro. It was declared scripture by the first three church councils and no councils ever rejected them as scripture. I'll drop some facts so my fellow Christians can understand since rarely do we Protestants study the history of our faith. 1. The apocrypha books were actually always in the bible and considered holy scripture. There was no apocrypha section until Martin Luther came along. 2. Martin Luther had an opinion that these books were deuterocanon meaning it was scripture, but not to be used to create doctrine. 3. It was also his opinion that there should be an apocrypha section for the New testament. He didn't like Jude James Hebrews and revelations and wanted them to be deuterocanon as well. He was quite opinionated. He hated Esther and wished it never existed, loved 1 Maccabees but hated 2 Maccabees. 4. The apocrypha was only dropped from our protestant bibles in the early 19th century. Yep thats right, only 200 years ago and it was because the British printing press didn't want to spend the money to print them anymore. 5. The books don't change any of our doctrines. The Jews only dropped those books because it was too close to the New testament in which they reject whole heartedly. Their 39 book Jewish canon which the protestant canon is based off of was created after Christ and meant to preserve Jewish way of life and prevent their own from converting to Christianity. 6. Maccabees is important for understanding Daniels prophecy so if you're not gonna read any of them, at least read Maccabees so you understand what happened.

@@followersofyeshuahamashiac462 I have a copy of the orthodox study Bible which I use as my main bible. Orthodox bibles are great as their church decided to remain true to the LXX over the masoretic. Great video. I only have one correction: The KJV was a 17th century translation and not a 16th century translation as stated in the graphic. It was commissioned in 1604 and published in 1611. Both these dates are part of the *17th century* and not the 16th. The Geneva Bible, not mentioned in the video, but relied on heavily by KJV version translators, was a 16th century translation.

Even though some English translated Bible such as Wessex Gospels (West Saxon Old English) and Lindisfarne Gospels (Northumbrian Old English) has been earlier than the Wycliffe's Bible (East Midland Middle English), however, Wycliffe's Bible was regarded as the earliest English translation bible since Wycliffe's Bible has translated completely with Tanakh the Old Testament, Diatiqihedata the New Testament, and Deuteronomical the Apocrypha. Also, even the Wessex and Lindisfarne Gospels is the earlier attested English translation bibles (in Old English before Middle and Modern English), however these bibles isn't translate from original languages like Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek but Latin Vulgate (same as Douay-Rheims and Knox) as before the Protestant Reformation were the Latin Vulgate Bible is the main sources to translate in the several languages in Europe.

I really like what the Bible Project does, but this video is missing the “so what” statement. Yes, the Bible was translated many times, but what does this mean to the reader? This video is random facts about biblical translations without much substance on a readers relevance. Cool video, but because it lacks substance it almost feels incomplete.

This video does a lot and I appreciate that they did not give a "so what." It glorifies God that this is the most translated book of all time. For those who argue over different Bible versions being better, this shows that there are tons of translations in different languages and how only english speakers seem to hold KJV as the supreme Bible when other languages don't even have a KJV because they don't speak english. It also shows that besides the Bible being inspired by God, that it was also written as evidence of prophecy so that no other religion could claim the miracles of Jesus as their own. And so many more things...

i'm curious why Tim didn't mention the Geneva Bible? that was the first Bible translation to add verse numbering and commentaries explaining the culture of events in Scripture as notes on the sides and/or bottom, IIRC
