Ok your history is missing a few things: 1. The Jamaican patty originated from the Cornish pastry that the Cornish settlers brought to Jamaica in the 17th century. 2. The Cornish pastry looked similar to the empanada and had potato and peas and meat 3. Slaves recreated the Cornish pastry and improved the flavour with spices and removed the potato 4. The patty evolved but was already being made by Black(Afro-Jamaican’s) well before Chinese Jamaicans came to the island 5. The Chinese man who founded Tastee patty saw this being made around the island and like most Chinese and foreigners on the island take a Black invention and try to monetize - he may have modified to original patty for mass production. He had the money and education to turn it to profit. So the Jamaican patty was created by Afro Jamaicans from Cornish pastry during slavery and adapted by Chinese entrepreneurs. The fact that the flavours in the patty culminate Cornish, African and Indian flavours and NOT Chinese proves that this was not a Chinese invention.
