Imagine an open world Star Wars game where you can do anything you can become a bounty hunter, a Jedi, a sith, a stormtrooper, a rebel fighter, or even a star destroyer fleet commander. This game would have a character customizer and even a campaign mode which would be similar to Metroid in its nonlinear world. I just really want this it would be amazing.
Open world bounty hunter game where you choose your race (99% of people would go Mandalorian) and you go around collecting bounties while also having a main objective.
I like how Lego Vader cuts Luke's hand off and gives him his hand. Best dad ever. He may have cut off your hand but he gives you his cause he's sorry. Awesome.
and you needed to be careful when timing your attacks, because if you got the timing wrong your guard would be down and you get your head sliced off or something. There were lots of special moves too once you figured them out too.
Yeah, however i liked the force unleashed 2 better though. I mean for starters they introduced a different form of fighting, and the storyline was amazing. Not a fan of the early playstation graphics though. I think its later release on the wii really improved the graphic quality. A good game overall though, i'm not complaining😁
Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy also allowed you to attack in any direction while moving in any direction, without getting locked down in animations - except when you and the enemy got into a “saber lock” where you’d be pushing your lightsabers against each other and you’d have to try to beat the other player/enemy in the lock.
Jedi Academy blew my mind when playing dude, it's just insane how the mechanics are, we really feel like being a lightsaber master, there is so much thing to do. I love it.
@@SimbaBrank23It was a little tough and had to time it right but yeah I didn't use it that often. But at least it gave you some options even if they didn't work well.
@@nischal7881 nah, in 90s, the blocky ugly graphics looked just as bad. What we didn't see getting better is PS1 era FMV graphics, look at Final Fantasy VIII movies, for example. It's obviously dated now. Modern games need improvement in physics of things like cloth and water, they still struggle to make people drink, pour liquid, or remove/put on clothing.
Jedi Academy and Outcast II were decades ahead of their time. I've played them since release, and almost 20 years later they are still at the top of the list. Revenge of the sith for PS2 deserves honorable mentiion
16:50 But, that's not unique to Battlefront 2 at all. You gave several examples of characters with unique animations based on their moves from the films already - including the original Battlefront 2. Also, there were technically lightsabers in Battlefront 1 as well, though only held by enemies. Was there a mention of this or did I miss it?
deathbasch Damn that was awesome, it felt like really logical and just more realistic as opposed to the Force Unleahsed. It was actually challenging consider its a movie inspired based of a Released Live Action film
@@nobleskywalker4639 easily! the duels and combo's were wayy better, dont feel ashamed of that opinion. i used to love playing as anakin, he was fluid on that game.
I work at a movie theater in Nashville and we actually have the ‘98 Star Wars arcade! Beaten it multiple times on break, and it still works like a dream!
I've got it - it's a really good game. Only issue is it gets tedious since there's no fast travel, and you get stuck in the same loop sometimes. It doesn't direct you clearly, that's literally the only issue with it. Other than that, it's good and it keeps your attention. Just keep a playthrough next to you for directions, and you're gold.
Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy are still the peak of lightsaber combat. The unrestricted movevement the aimed swings is still something not reintroduced in a Star Wars game. There are certain improvements that can be done and even Jedi Fallen Order has some cool mechanics that could work in a new Jedi Knight installment (like accurate blaster deflections only work if you block at the right moment), but the industry is too afraid to limit itself to one platform (PC) to do it justice.
10:22 YOOOOO I HAD THIS SHIT WAYY BACK IN THE DAY, the leapster was my first handheld "gaming" system and i played the hell out of it, lowkey forgot it existed man!
I actually enjoyed it. Luke has this move (if ya do it correctly) where hes invulnerable from using the force, idk how to execute it but I did it tons of times as a kid when I had the game on a demo disc.
It's also Kasi. Kah-see. Not Kaysaiye or whatever he said. Very bad research by this channel. Not telling apart 2D and 3D graphics is telling, and there were SO MANY completely broken Star Wars games than it's far from being the worst one.
irmasil3 I’ve kept my old Xbox 360 only because I can play outcast on it and not on the Xbox one! Best Star Wars game to this day! Hope they’ll modify it for Xbox one at some point!
My favourite lightsaber game is definitely jedi fallen order just because the graphics look very impressive it has great level design and I love the story. Also about the actual lightsaber I believe it is the best EVER solely because of all the customisation you can do to the lightsaber like changing the actual lightsaber itself or helpful stuff like increasing the damage and other things like throwing it or the action of switching lightsaber forms from 1 bladed lightsaber to a double ended one in a cool animated attack
I might be missing something, but what about the Clone Wars game on the DS? I remember that having lightsaber combat in it, as well as reflecting bolts back at droids
I loved jedi knight, for just the peer to peer fighting with lightsaber, fave after that was xwing, then xwing vs tie fighter. Fun game, cool missions to pilot thanks for the review, sure am loving the fallen order now...
Star Wars Empire at War, Acadamy, Battlefront 2, Force Unleashed, Republic Commando, the Wii Clone Wars Duel one, Super Star Wars and of Course the Lego ones shaped my childhood. Didn't realized until now how many Star Wars games I've played lol
Jedi Academy. Man I've played that so many times over the years. First when I was 13. 29 now and still revisit it. The combat is still immensely fun. It's the closest I've felt to a jedi whilst playing a star wars game. Fallen Order is good. I'm enjoying it but I've never been a fan of Dark Souls gameplay. I'm not the most patient person lol
@Crumbsly you are confusing the relaunch where they changed the entire game, before that update there were lightsabers, and they were brutally bad ass. You need to google star wars galaxy pre cu servers.
@Crumbsly What Ryan said. Pre-CU SWG had lightsabers, but they were SUPER rare and incredibly powerful. Actually seeing someone with a lightsaber was a big deal, but they def existed.
I have a local arcade where I can go to play Star Wars Trilogy Arcade. It's every bit as fun in 2019 as it must have been back in 1998. I was only 3 when it came out. First played it when I was about 6 at a skating rink, and left a lasting impression on me. They just don't make them like that anymore.
not a Star Wars game but Beatsaber is hands down on of the most fun lightsaber experiences I've ever had. Slashing boxes to the rhythm of your favourite Songs while fully immersed in VR is so much fun. Though I was addicted to Guitar Hero back in the day...thats probably also a point xD
11:16 This feat is often taken out of context, the Star Destroyer was already falling down, Starkiller just helped it, in fact you could say he didn’t even do that, he just shifted it. Still impressive, just not nearly as impressive.
Outcast was fine, but they perfected it in Academy by adding lightsaber locks and making the battle more diverse with force powers and a few other moves.
I low key love the 1999 phantom menace game. It was somewhat ahead of it's time with the dialogue/rpg choices and the tatooine levels were nuts for the time.
It was 2003, I was choosing hardware for my first PC (custom) that I needed for college. It was going to be something basic, for productivity. Until I managed to sit down in front of KOTOR and Jedi Academy for a few hours. I credit those for getting me into PC gaming. Although I do still fondly remember TPM and ROTS, on PSOne and PS2, respectively. I enjoyed both TFU and TFU2. Fallen Order is now in my top five Star Wars games. I'm hoping we get some kind of sequel to Fallen Order. Maybe between Episode VI and VII--New Jedi Order?
He completely missed Knights of the old republic. One of the best star wars games ever. But he put some doom clone with no lightsaber combat... Stupid as fuck.
@Joseph Schrenkel The controls are alright and the forcepowers are pretty neat. I think it gets tiresome pretty quickly being that overpowered, even in TFU 1. But by GOD, does TFU 2 get repetitive quickly. Same enemies, and the same fucking bosses with the same fucking animation quicktime event over and over again. And the same "skydive" shit multiple times. The story also sucked major balls... and it could be completed in TWO HOOOOUUURS (Angry Joe voice). A triple A title, ànd the price tag that comes with that, for TWOOO HOUUUUUURS!? How did they manage to get a game that's only 2 hours to feel that repetitive and that much of a chore? Writing this out made me realize... you're god damn right it was TERRIBLE.
Jedi Academy was awesome! The original XBox had some of my favorite games of all time and I miss playing the Star Wars games, especially Jedi Academy and Knights of the Old Republic.
musiclover I remember the duel between Starkiller (Galen Marek) and Darth Phobos was the hardest!!! Same thing when fighting Darth Desolus, or fighting ourselves specifically the Dark Side Version of Galen Marek
musiclover Not Even including the Ultimate Sith Edition implementing Galen Marek, Lord Starkiller into the Iconic Battles of the Original Trilogy. Basically extended into mission on Tatooine; Hoth, And Endor
The Original Z0 It’s not my favorite Star Wars game with lightsabers, I was only saying because they forgot to list it. My favorites would probably be ”Star Wars Trilogy - The Arcade Game”, “Knights of The Old Republic 1&2”, “Jedi Knight 1& 2”, “Jedi - Fallen Order”.
I feel like we shouldn’t call things the Jar Jar of something, now I feel like we should call it the Rose of something and we would know what you where talking about.
You missed one, I had it way back in the day, don’t remember what it was even called. It was a plug and play with a handheld lightsaber that I can only imagine worked with infrared sensors. Pretty sure you face off against darth maul in the first level or something.
I had the Star Wars Lightsaber arena game for my Atari. It was played with the paddle controllers. You could battle against the computer or another player. A seeker would move back and forth on the screen between you and the other player. You would move your lightsaber left or right using the paddle. The seeker would fire at your opponent using the button on the controller. The seeker would fire in the same direction your lightsaber was facing so you had to balance between blocking with your saber and aiming at your opponent. Occasionally the seeker would go on a rampage and start shooting all over the place very quickly. Once the seeker had shot a hole through the defense shield it could hit the player. You gained a point for each hit on your opponent. The first to 3 points was the winner and rewarded Jedi Master title. It wasn't the best game but it did start us in a good direction :) Keep in mind that the Atari had a 1.19 MHz cpu with 128 bytes of internal RAM and ~4096 bytes space for the games. Compare this with a current day system in 2020 that has 8 x 4000Mhz Processor, 32GiB of RAM (That's ~34 Billion Bytes), and the game size for Fallen order is about 43 GiB (That's ~46 Billion Bytes). Not even taking into account the HUGE compute power of 3D graphics cards which didn't even exist in the 80's :) It's actually amazing how good Atari games were when you take the hardware capabilities into account.
13:39 hold up you’re missing a lot here from the early 2000’s era. Jedi starfighter, the first battlefront, the clone wars, those 3 were biggins good sir
Jedi Outcast was one of the first Star Wars games that really blew me away. Rogue Squadron was fun but Jedi Outcast really made you feel like a Jedi and the sheer power that you felt wielding Kyle's lightsaber. I just don't see how Fallen Order is going to be able to top that.
Cal doesn't use dark side powers like Kyle so no lightning. But he can Force Freeze, Force Grip, Pull and Push, throw lightsaber around and use dual blade plus a dual wield combo. You can freeze a stormtrooper rocket in place and fire it back at him or someone else.
