It’s sad what too many people have had to go through while the medical world was so lacking in how to treat diseases. Although medical care has come a long way I encourage everyone to read and educate themselves on illnesses. Too many times I’ve seen where medication is the only treatment, and education about prevention and natural treatments are ignored.
That may be true, and it could also be called a genocide. However it is labelled, it seems to me that the powers that prevailed at the time took extreme measures (which may or may not have been justified) but then "forgot" the impacts that their decisions had on individual lives.
Fresh air and sunlight, vitamin D. People in the far north of Canada and Europe once feasted on Salmon, Cod liver, Mutton birds, and Seals, all rich in Vitamin D.
I know their story is tragic, but I feel the title is misleading. I had assumed this was a documentary on tuberculosis. This would be better titled as the Suffering Tuberculosis Caused Native American Communities.
TB was also present before the settlers and evidence of it has been found in ancient Peruvian mummies. It's an incredibly old disease; but the settlers were directly responsible for transmission to many communities which makes me sad too.
If you knew anything about actual history, you would know that they also were conquerors who fought other Indian tribes and enslave them as well. They also had many diseases among themselves.
Toxic "Super meds" is what caused the spread of multi-drug resistant strains of Tuberculosis around the world and has made it the No. 1 infectious disease killer in the world today. Garlic is a better cure for TB.
@thebccdc - Timeline 03:28 you state "1st Nation Communities" - - Don't you mean Indigenous peoples or tribes ??? ( Surely these are - Inuit and Métis.& Canadian Indians ) . Are you trying to be 'politically correct' ?? .
I have a home on this planet I did not choose it or plan it It has red soil, grass and rain My ancestors cut down the trees When the Elms died of disease. I feel their spirit and joy and pain. Across time and the globe it is so This means we need to know If among us are any who plan To take out a sub-species of man I say they have to pay With their money and lives this day But tomorrow stands in my gaze A haze of machines in my sight Or rather me in theirs Because I do not consume Their flesh, my brother's body Or their whiskey or power I will drink water from the sky I will grow plants that heal I will not beg, but borrow and steal That which might save my life Or that of my child or my wife Or sister, or friend Somewhere this chain must end
So much theories and stories, so little data. Like it was some kind of mass hysteria at the same time. I wonder how many cases that was diagnosed correct?
