I remember meeting Greg many years ago in Daytona. Extremely nice guy and I remember him speaking with several of us and he had everyones attention. Thanks Greg! For all you have done for and with these amazing animals and the hobby we all enjoy so much. 👍
So glad you kept your old breeders. I know I'll keep my Champ Pastel male when he gets to be an old boy. Fond memories there. Awesome video, and I eventually want a Graziani snake in my collection.
I was around 5 yrs old , was the year 97 and some dude at the bus stop had a normal morph ball python around his neck and I was boarding the bus with my dad the guy was picked along with his “necklace snake “ my dad freaked out but si since then I felt in love with the species around that timeanaconda was a massive movie
Great episode! I wish I had gotten into Clowns and Pieds earlier. Thanks Greg for sharing your awesome animals, providing some history and lastly for your years of public service to the community! It's also nice to see how you've keep so many animals for their sentimental value- it's not all about the market and money!
+tactical veterinarian we haven't even hit the tip of iceberg with the clown and pied morphs we can produce. Now is still a good time to get into them!

Nice information and great history. Wish I would have kept up with the craze and culture when I first brought my snakes in the 90s had a Ball and Burmese python.
Absolutely great video! Could you please try to keep us updated on the strange growth on that one snake? It would be extremely interesting to know what exactly that growth an the black liquid is, as well as if it is degenerate cells and/or cancerous. At least to me this would be absolutely fascinating.

I first loved the Blood Python line, they are a little more solid looking and handle awesome, then I got a Ball Python, now I am I have fallen for the Ball line ...... its a little more handle able for my 15 year old Son than the longer heavier Blood, both have an awesome calm personality though :)
I have a female that looks just like your velvet pastel. I didn't produce her myself , but I bought her from a breeder because she was dark with that orangey gold looking color.

I'm into the black pastels, but my one and only (for now) ball python is a pastel vanilla. I'd love to eventually produce super pastel super vanillas, but that would be waaaay into the future if ever.
Is it really work when you love it? Im just getting my first and id love to do this for "work". Its tough to learn all the genetics but this helps line them up a bit thanks. I would work with pied for sure, i love the pure white color mixed with regular snake so amazing.
If you can add an update on that growth (melanoma) it would be great. I have an appointment with my Vet this Thursday for the same type only smaller above one of the eyes on a Black Axanthic Het Pied Female. He's going to do a biopsy on it and I will post the results here if you would like.
That's really strange how the melanistic ball python oozes that pigment! Maybe you could have a lab analyze it. Probably any vet could have it tested for you.
Dude that first big import he showed us now thats a true ball python see the size of her the length thats how i remember the ball pythons growing up now of course they have better paint jobs but u just dont see those 5 to 5 1/2 ft balls nomore i love those ones still a good size snake but not to big u know
I'd probably work with pieds if I could go back to the beginning. I love the patterns, and the clean pure white of the pieds. Probably the Champagne also. I have the Barkers' book which says they thought the Clown was an incubation error, and it probably wasn't reproducible. So glad it turned out to be genetic. One of my girls is a yellowbelly het clown. I can't wait til she gets big enough to breed.
In answer to Greg's question: If I could go back in time what morph would I work more with... I have 2 I would do more with Enchi and Yellow Belly... There is something to say about putting these 2 genes into other morph's Something is going to explode the Yellow Belly....
I seriously would of been fooled on that first ebony ball python too! that looks so genetically possible it's not funny haha! Atleast he has a snake that is very unique haha!
A wild import that was capatively hatched? So does that mean they stole some wild eggs and hatched them themselves? Cuz otherwise it's kind of contradictory...
Always buy your snakes direct from reputable breeders, not from a chain store. You'll get a more healthy snake, and much more accurate care info. Provide your snake with belly heat hooked up to a thermostat, and you can take him out and enjoy him whenever you'd like, just give him a day or so after a meal before you take him out of his enclosure.
So I caught a wild garter to snap some pics take weights size and then re release into my yard but 1 female gave birth so I kept 1 baby and I wish I kept more at this point my 1 garter I kept turned into pie bald it has 3 patches that go all around the belly and happened over the last 4 sheds and I'm wondering if he will turn all white any suggestions?
Dan S whined to Greg at Daytona in 2002...that Brian B was selling pastels for less...I forget the price...like 1800 maybe...Greg said he sold 2 for the 2000/2400 so he doesn't think he needed to drop the price.......Dan and reg looked over at me a few times but didn't know who I was so kept talking..........I was there to find an albino ball....no one would drop for me......Brian B did ..he gave me one for 2000....and I made a lot of albino and hets over the next years ....sold a lot to Outback Reptiles....we made money...and I still Thank Brian for that.....Brian always treated us all like we were normal people and normal breeders........I never did tell Dan, Collette or Greg who I was while I was down there.......I talked with a lot of people.....(even Bell wouldn't drop price to what I wanted and we talked and sold each other snakes for a few years then) ........anyways .......balls....lots of people hate them...the market is taking a beating at the moment again also........too many people making too ,any of them........*(back when I bred the only available morph -normals- I had 100% fecundity from all my females...and up to 12 eggs each...and the males were over 5 foot and huge..........Have Fun and good luck......
