I have a 1998 fatboy in sinister blue pearl. Absolutely love that bike. I have currently 4 harleys. And have had many others in the past. Ive never been able to pin point it but, its my favorite harley ive ever had. To me, riding a evo softail feels the closest to what riding the older harleys feels like. Every time I get on my evo softail everything about it causes lots of memories of riding shovelheads and panheads to flooding back to me. It is a realy cool feeling and its nice to remember some of those things. At the same time, when I get back on a newer bike I remember why we have evolved past some of the older engineering of the older bikes. They all have their good qualities.
I completely believe it could be true. Makes perfect sense Harley Davidson would deny it from a corporate standpoint. Because to open a conflict like this in the public forum would bring up ALOT of things Harley Davidson may not want to get into. So they take a quick pot shot at the Japanese bikes and continue on their merry way. Fun if its true or not!
Good Video and interesting story. Was a long day traveling. But we back home in Winnipeg and reality🥶 Hope the rain has stopped and your back to those warm summer days.....EH!!!!!
That is the same story. I heard back in 1990 when they came out with a fat boy I heard that from a sales person at Harley. Always wanted one but back then I couldn’t afford one rode my shovel with a fat boy rear wheel
I think it is not only possible but quite likely true. I have rode a 2018 or 2019 Fatboy. It was a demo ride at Loess Hills Harley Davidson. It was an excellent bike. It had real nice power and rode really smooth. There was a lot of low end torque. It would accelerate so well with part throttle and not many revs. I have not rode a Fatboy with the earlier Softail chassis. I do have a 2007 Heritage. I do like it. It has enough power. As expected it is no where near the power of the 114 milwaukee 8. I am likely to make it to Sturgis this year. I am looking forward to the World Record Poker Run Reunion. Hopefully we will have a chance to talk.
The story seems a little far fetch but but believable at the same time !!!! You must be right around the corner from me , I see your at Bert’s a lot maybe north port I’m in port Charlotte? Great channel and fantastic content !!!!!!I have the 2006 fatboy in cobalt blue , awesome Color !!!! I Converted to hydraulic tensioners and quickie push rods !!!!!
Yes. Japan was killing us in the cruiser market so in the late 80s Harley asked to put a tariff on Japanese bikes over 700cc. Around 3 years later. The fat boy came out
