I like these videos. I think artifacts with a large backstory like the Infinity Gems make videos like this great. They have a long history & have touched a lot of characters.
Such a good video. Love the style. Taking the item in question out of the context of any one story and giving a complete overview of the items history. You rock Rob.
1-Warlock wasn't comatose after Infinity War. The -Warlock and The Infinity Watch ran a long time afterwards and didn't end until after Infinity Crusade. 2-Warlock's evil became Magus and his good became Goddess, Warlock was neutral and devoid of both good and evil. 3. Thanos wasn't revealed as keeper of the Reality Gem until after Infinity War and merely mocked Magus for not realizing he never had control of Reality. 4- Thanos realized, by research with the Infinity Well, that the Infinity Gems wereu being used incorrectly (by everyone) and with that knowledge, set out to reacquire them. 5. Magus was a ghost inside Soul Gem because he was only the evil portion of Warlock's soul.
+Titan Of Titans Warlock was comatose after the Infinty War, but came out of by the the hand of Eternity in Warlock and the Infinity Watch 15. Eternity needed him awake to respond to the threat of Count Abyss and the rise of the Godess in the Infinity Crusade...
I find that videos like these are both useful and enjoyable to someone who only has a basic knowledge of certain areas. So thanks for there Rob and please do more like this!
That was awesome synopsis of the Infinity Gems, throughout Marvel history. Only one correction that I can see. When Adam Warlock had the gauntlet after the Infinity Gauntlet event, he did not split himself into two beings, but three. He actually cast good & evil from his "soul", and became a being of logic. Evil became the " new" Magus, who tried to gain the gaunlet (Infinity War). And "good" became the Goddess, who attempted to bring about universal suicide (Infinity Crusade).
Man!!! I really loved this video!!! The history of the gems it's absolutely fascinating. I also didn't realize it was so expensive across the marvel universe. It's also cool it was used as a plot device so many times.
I like the videos where you run through the chronology of something such as an artifact or item. It's nice because many of these stories are so spread out over a span of years so the video complies it all into one place.
Another fantastic video that must have taken a good while from script to finish. Makes me nostalgic and want to pull out my old archives. I'd love to see more artifact videos, Rob. I don't know how much information you find on the Cosmic Control Rod, but I'd love to see a video on that and/or the Ultimate Nullifier. I was thinking maybe a series of videos about fictional places with the Marvel universe, like videos about Genosha and Latveria. Thanks again for this video first, though.
Great video Rob! Thanks for making this as the infinity gauntlet has always been so full of mystery to me. I have seen your other videos but its nice to tie it all together like this. Also that song your playing is a great song! Still listen to that off the samurai champloo sound track.
I think these videos are awesome. They help new comic fans know a little more about what may happen in the movies an they give old farts like me a well made an thought out refresher course.
Doom wanted the gauntlet that whole time through "The Infinity Gauntlet" and you could say that was his soul purpose for having been there. Now we have "God Doom", Thanos is there with the Cabal, and Black Panther has the gauntlet. Let's say either of them get their hands on it- It's still moot. *Franklin is going to wreck house when he discovers the truth.* But none the less, I enjoy these artifact videos. So many of these items are brought into the canon with no explanation other than "No! You can't! Last time it almost blah blah blah" having it all summed into one video is very.... Practical.
Loved the vid and if I processed everything correctly only 1 comic was left out that I consider essential to this and it's marvel team up #55 which leads into warlock #15 and then marvel death watch issue of avengers annual #7. You can say it's a prelude lol. In this issue 3 of the gems appear and are used which are The Stranger, The Gardener, and Warlock. At the end The stranger walks away with his gem, warlock goes on with his, and the gardener just throws in on the ground of the moon and walks away. But hey I could be wrong but hope this helps adding a essential issue in the future :)
By destroying a soul gem you're sacrificing a unknown amount of innocent lives, I just witnessed Captain America killing more lives than Carnage or the Joker dream about.....
So, Captain America has wielded Mjolnir, he has wielded and used the Infinity Gauntlet, and he also got to lead both the Avengers and the Justice League at the same time in battle. What HASN'T Captain America done?
Colton G the only character i hate that is cap america. He is human only has unbreakble shield but how the fuck he can survive all the fight? Fucking americans and trump.
I love the MCU so all this background is really useful to me so thank you for all your hard work in putting theses videos together. So please keep it up.
I like the MCU, but I hate how MCU ruined comics lore. Hank Pym created Ultron, not Tony Stark. Ancient One is a old Asian guy, not a Bald woman. Infinity Gem's , not Infinity stones. Peter Parker did care that his Uncle Ben died, MCU Spider man does not care his Uncle Ben died.... His uncle is Tony Stark. MCU sucks for doing this, and no reason why to do it.
She Hulk did get the power stone during her solo series. If you can get a copy of the collected edition it has the story where she got it. I had that book a few years ago but recently lost my entire comic collection so I don't have it on hand to give you more details at this time.
I'd honestly say the reality gem or the mind gem would be the most powerful. The reality gem has been said to be the hardest to control because of the sheer amount of variables you have to be aware of. And the mind gem effectively allows a person access to other minds and possibly the wealth of all intelligence in the universe; allowing the wielder to utilize boundless creativity of the gem
Rob...even more relevant to the bankrupted comics industry, and why I stopped collecting comic books in 1993...by then, all comic books being released were made "SPECIAL" or "UNIQUE"...thus, NONE WERE SPECIAL OR UNIQUE. Marvel TRULY started this craze with the introduction of Silver Surfer #50, and it's "SPECIAL" silver foil cover. There was also Ghost Rider #15, first printing, and it's glow in the dark cover, followed by a second printing in which the cover was made further "UNIQUE" by changing it from matte black to eggshell gold. We also had all the Spider Man variant covers, i.e. red & blue suit standard edition cover, red & blue suit standard edition cover in "COLLECTOR'S EDITION" bag, black suit & metallic silver webbing edition cover, black suit & metallic silver webbing edition cover in "COLLECTOR'S EDITION" bag, and then, admittedly, the best cover of them all, the third printing of issue #1, black suit & metallic copper webbing...jeez! I bought 10 of the third printing alone...! And, what is is now worth? $2.00? $3.00? $5.00? The Ghost Rider covers I referenced are selling for $0.09 on Amazon.com! 9 cents!!! Great investment. I can't soon forget the multiple printings of the X-Force & X-Men variant covers. And of course, DC and it's lovely collection of Batman variant covers and multiple printings, and the further inclusion of "SPECIAL" variant hologram cards inside each bagged comic book variant. There's many, many more, but, who cares...by the time I stopped, most of these "SPECIAL" and "UNIQUE" printings and variant covers lost significant, if not complete, value, as the continued flooding of the market with these gimmicks destroyed the collectibility, and then the spirit of, comic books as a whole.
Thanos is probably the only major villain in Western comics I can think of to get _multiple_ series with himself as the main character where he's wholly villainous. I don't think I've ever heard of another bad guy as utterly nihilistic and evil as the Mad Titan getting such series. I suppose it's because Thanos is by far a more complex and interesting character than DC's Darkseid, who he was basically a ripoff of - at least initially.
Another question: Does Vision only have the mind gem in the MCU? Can he function without it? I noticed that after Adam dispersed them to different people, Vision wasn't one of them.
The gem on the moon had belonged to the Gardener, one of the Elders of the Universe. He discarded it on the Blue Area of the moon after a fight between him, Warlock and Spiderman against the Stranger.
these "artifact videos" as you put it seem to be really cool considering how many crazy things there are. Do a video on heart of the universe or ultimate nullifier next
A quibble: *fans* did not nearly bankrupt the comic market. The publishers did, by oversaturating the market because, as you say, the overestimated its size and, in my opinion, undervalued good, meaningful story in favor of massive obnoxious unnecessary crossovers. Infinity War is what drove me to stop reading comics, because I felt I had to buy every issue flagged under the banner to understand the story. This wasn't true, but I had no way of knowing that.
Did you overlook the Avengers story arc where The Hood was hunting down the infinity gems? It's how Captain America ends up with a gem during Hickman's run
Loved it, please this video felt like your old stuff and the way you formatted the old content is cream to me. Not to say that the new stuff isn't good, it is, just like the old stuff better
I agree! I've been fascinated by Warlock since the original publication of the Infinity Gauntlet books. I'd love to see that video get the full CE treatment.
I like the details you give from the connected comic book stories and the extensive history of the gems/stones and gauntlet. Would you make a video explaining which gem/stone is the most powerful. I'd like to hear your commentary on that point. I've got my top three gems/stones as TIME, MIND and SOUL, however I've heard many points made that the MIND might be more powerful than the SOUL. Your thoughts?
I really like these types of videos that focus on the celestial side of marvel. can we please have more looking at gods in the universe? maybe the place that gods such as odon play compared with the higher ones e.g. living tribunal
Love em. And of course, want more. In the story where spider man wields the gauntlet, why is the power of it not too much for him? I know hes incredibly strong, but I didnt imagine he was able to do that.
I think the people who purchased so many pf the same comic at once, that is what cause comics to fail. I remember in the 80s going to the comic shop once a week. Every time, they would tell me how they got exactly what I was looking for but they sold out. That was the case for many comic readers at that point. Much like how Amiibos are over purchased for the same reason as comics were. In time, after NOT finding anything your looking for in comics, you basically give up on finding good comics. Lucky me though, the area I live in has ONE shop that I know of. So now I get to collect all those great stories I missed without the bullshit of them being sold out all the time.
wow! did you not ask for likes and subscriptions at the end!?? was this whole video about the actual topic of the video!?? liked and subscribed just for that
liked looking back over the history of the gems. even if they don't play that big a part of anything anymore. wonder what the next big thing will be in comics.
I'm still pissed with how poorly Marvel treated the Ultraverse universe and it's characters. It's already bad enough that they can't be bothered bringing it back because they'd actually have to pay people royalties *GASP!* THE HORROR! You also forgot to mention how Malibu helped the Image guys with publishing during their first couple of years until they got their own studio. The excess profits of which went towards the Ultraverse and the high end computer coloring used for it
+tripdefect87 Even though I don't agree with how DC has treated characters like Captain Marvel and Plastic-Man, at the very least they are a part of the DC Universe. It's just depressing that the Ultraverse and it's characters never got a fair shake at Marvel, some characters like Prime and Ghoul had great potential.
