I always loved the Porsche 550. I have a model of it. My dad's friend was on the waiting list for one of the very first Boxsters. I remember when he brought it round after it arrived. Can't believe that was 25 years ago!
Former BMW enthusiast here - as BMW is desacrating its heritage, I just bought my first Porsche - a 987, and its so nice to see Porsche paying so much respect to its past. Love Porsche.
Thank you for this video. I was wanting to learn about the history of the Porsche I bought this week. A 2004 Porsche 986 Boxster S, 6 speed transmission, 87K on the odometer, midnight blue with a medium grey and black interior. It's my first Porsche. I'm letting the car teach me how to handle it. :)
The world owes its gratitude to these two men, and of course to the thousands of women and men who worked with them to brilliantly save Porsche. I hope most people will agree that in our time, Porsche produces the most wonderful automobiles on planet Earth. These two gentlemen are a huge part of the reason that is true.
Hey this is great.. Because of these guys I could get excited about this brand and bought my first Porsche. What caught my attention was playing the game Porsche Unleashed : Need for Speed. I could never imagine owning any other convertible other than the Boxster.
I have a 986 Boxster S and I can see and feel the investment and love that was instilled in every part of this car. These wonderful men dedicated a part of their lives to this fantastic project that I enjoy every time I drive it. Thank you very much.
Fabulous. I had a 2000 Boxster S in Arctic Silver. 6 speed. Nicest car I have ever owned. Missed it badly and recently purchased a 2014 981 Boxster S. Also incredible but not any better than the 2000 I had. Both mind blowing machines and more than enough for hauling serious ass or cruising in the sunshine. The perfect car.
Really excellent insight. Brilliant interview with it's purposeful pace ..... you could really sense the emotion and love for the car coming from both Mr Marchant and Mr Larson.
I have the 2.7 Boxster in arctic silver came with a hardtop love the look with the hard top on although love to remove it in the summer one of the best cars I’ve owned
I wish two different voice were used for the translation. A female voice for the female and male voice for the male. Becomes easier to listen, understand and differentiate between the different speakers. Lost interest after 10 minutes sadly. I’m a 718 Boxster owner 😊
I have a friend that had a Boxster, he then got himself a GT3. Im his navigator in our local rally and get to chat to Porsche club members (I’m an associate member) I have not made the move to own one, I thought it was beyond me. They are lovely people, encouraging and welcoming to those that can see what an amazing history and passion for these cars and the road Porsche have.

I own a 718 Boxster S and I am very satisfied, I think the 4-cylinder boxer engine is a very good engine with good power and torque, but underestimated by many, and perhaps even by Porsche, which for the "25 years" model chose the 6-cylinder, at almost the same price of the base 911 Carrera...
@@stevenice1485 maybe before speaking you should find whether I have driven both? Btw driving difference between 4T and 6 is not everything. Bur I don’t suspect you to know about all that. And somehow Porsche chose a 6 cylinder over a current 4T in their 25 year anniversary. But what do they know. Lol
@@Nowageopolityka so why not a v8 or a v10? even better! the boxster saved Porsche from bankruptcy because it is an entry level ... the 25 anniversary is a 4-liter and costs 100k euros ... with that money or a little more, I rather buy a 911 Carrera ... you do as you want ... lol
@@stevenice1485 see, you exactly prove my point: a more expensive car is fitted with a 6 cylinder over a 4T. Exactly. 6 cylinder is more expensive to manufacture and fit. It’s also better. You try to come up with a counterpoint yet it leads you to the bottom. Lol 6 > 4T As far as 8 cyl or more. What exactly would be the benefit in a light car? Cost and size up but very little benefit. I don’t believe you’re that limited.
I agree with Grant Larson’s choice of the 986 and 987 as his preferred choices of the Boxster. Designwise, both display clear visual links to the 550 and 718 RSK. These visual links have become less evident with later models.
