One of most treasured heritage art forms in the Pacific is our dance - and expression of our social roles, status, our joy for life and our soul. In Samoa and Tonga one of the most revered dances is the Taualuga - the dance of life.
"The taualuga is the final touch to all the fiafia, the taualuga is the same word that they give to the top part of the fale. You know when it's there that means the whole thing is finished" - Va'asiliifiti Moelagi Jackson

Faafetai lava, Vaasiliifiti. You are as graceful and gracious as ever. And your teaching your children when young to entertain before guests is still recalled with appreciation. Malo Lava!

Very beautiful. Thank you for sharing. The grandma at the end is by far the best part, explaing the respect given to the sister from the brother. Absolutely beautiful

Long story short the taualunga originated in samoa. Can't have other islanders coming on here claiming it.

That last part tho. I agree with some on here. Not a Samoan culture thing. Ppl added it in the taualuga but stepping on a man is a no no in our culture. Ppl in America do it not in Samoa.

yes agreeing with you in the old days The Taupou and Manaia that is her brother, so regardless who is aiuli she does not put her foot on him. A big no no. who changed it?
@TamaOLeNiu

People in America do it because they don't have the proper knowledge of the Siva Samoa.

Apparently the red head dress is to honour the red hair giants from 1000's of years ago - perhaps at the conclusion of war. Remembering these giants existed through tradition and this dance. Modern day archaeologists talk about red haired giants in the Americas (red hair giants found in caves), Afghanistan (giants of Kandahar), Rapanui / Easter Island. Apparently Jacob Roegenveen (David Wilcock explains) saw red haired giants on Rapanui when he landed on Easter Island in 1600's. They were working in unison with the polynesians of the island, but turned upset when the Europeans showed up.

If you're talking about Gabi Plumms claims on her documentary it is very flawed. She based her theory of a Samoan cultural item from a story told of in Kiribati history (A country almost 1000km away to the north), even in the video you can see her reading a book in I-Kiribati a.k.a Gilbert Islands when she mentiones Batuku. She is on the right track but she should really cross examine her external sources (Kiribati) with local sources (Samoan) before she features them on a video.

Yep! No one should even be near the taupou in respects to the Va! The OGs at our family reunion scolded us youngins on that not being FaaSamoa and become synonymous with our culture since being in America when traditionally diving on the floor and dog piling ain’t the way!💯💯

But you're wrong. It is not a part of the Samoan culture/Siva Samoa. It is deemed disrespectful and is forbidden.
