It's weird looking back on the Science Patrol group since most modern Ultra Teams seem to be made up of Early 20 Sexy Boys with six-pack abs whereas this group of pudgy 25-35-year-olds (and one 20-year-old girl) feels like an actual science team
@@eppyify Yeah I agree. Most Tokusatsu shows in general now days, the cast just look WAY too young pretty compared to the old days when the cast seemed to be well.. more realistic.
“Then Ultraman is king of Tokusatsu” ummm I hate to break this to you, but Godzilla IS the beginning of Tokusatsu (special effects/man-in-suit) so he is the King of it ALL
It's the end of Ultramonth but not the end of Ultraman videos for this channel :) Big thank you to Dawn for writing and voicing this video, I think it came out great!
Oi macrosatsu if the guy who made pacific rim got a visit to baltan why not gomora and eleking for me and how did the guy who made the pacific rim movie saw baltan as a surprise just how
I'm a huge fan of you videos. If you do a history of sentai video, could you pretty please do Timeranger? I'm watching it on ShoutFactoryTV and it is VERRRY good!
47:40 Not very often does the hero genuinely apologize to previous foes he killed, granted some deserved it, but some were just animals living there lives, this reminds me of when Ultraman showed respect to Jirass after his defeat, it made me truly sympathetic for these creatures, especially apoun their deaths, god I love this show
I've never watched the older Showa era Ultramen but watched most of the series from the late 90s onwards, and the plot of the human defence squad fighting side by side with the Ultraman is shown mostly just in the Mebius series. True, the later and newer shows don't have this defence squad anymore (maybe due to lack of budget or they just want to shift the focus for a new era of audience), but that really showed how the humans could fight side by side with the Ultraman to defeat monsters, and made the series enjoyable. The new Ultraman Z literally just creates mecha for the humans to pilot, and I would hope for more episodes for them to fight side by side, which would most likely be the case.
Attualy the defense team was shelfed because when x was airing, sales for xio toys was pretty low, lower than the kaiju cards so tsuburaya shelfed the defense team when orb started airing. The defense team idea later was revisited in ultraman z
Good knowing the history of Ultraman as I use to watch the original series when it was being aired on Saturday mornings in the USA and I've been a fan of this "superhero" from Japan ever since.
The beautiful new history series begins As a massive fan of Ultraman I'm so happy to see this series get the recognition it deserves, great work here Dawn!
It's certainly beautiful What a dumpy boy and thickass ultraman go neooooooo neoooooooooooooo neoooooooooooo and then he was like oh shit and then blows up bemkdjrhwhe and then they go yeaho and then uh oh
I am so glad Mill Creek has been releasing this franchise on Blu-Ray at such a brisk pace. I mean, it hasn't even been a year yet since they announced they acquired the franchise and we already have had 9 series released with two more with official dates. That is absolutely amazing.
Lmao nobody pointed out that at 40:46 that "poem" is actually the translated lyrics to "Omoide wa Okkusenman", a song about reminiscing the childhood of the singer using Megaman 2's OST. Kodomo no koro Yatta koto aru yo Iroase ta kioku da Kouhaku bou Atama ni URUTORAMAN URUTORAMAN SEBUN Kodomo no koro Natsukashii Kioku KARE toka no tokini Gin no SUPUN meni ate URUTORAMAN URUTORAMAN SEBUN Misugo shite ta keshiki wa Okkusenman Okkusenman Sugi sarishi kisetsu wa GURAFITI Kimi gakure ta yuuki wa Okkusenman Okkusenman Sugi sarishi kisetsu wa DORAMATIKKU
What's interested about the Ultra statue in the desert city in episode 7 is that a a 2005 Ultraman manga called Ultraman Story 0, which was made as a prequel to the franchise had a chapter where Zoffy was on ancient Earth where he ended up in that same village, the manga suggests that Zoffy was the Ultraman the residents built a statue however that manga series was rendered non-canon by Tsuburaya and made Noa the ancient Ultra who got the statue tribute.
I prefer the idea of the statue being made for Noa instead of either Ultraman or Zoffy. While it doesn't make much sense in context, I love the idea that Noa came to the primary universe to help the others to defeat the monster. It's a great side story and also a great prelude to Revenge of Belial during the climax when he bestowed Zero the Ultimate Zero Armor, as the word Baraji, or however you spell it, was quite the arc word in both instances.
Back in the 1970s my friend's and I used to come home from school and watch Altraman in Japanese then it came out in English language. My older brother made the batta capsell out of wood and painted it made it look like the real thing.
It's sorta funny how ep 34 and 35 are like similar in how to handle the "trying to carry kaiju to space" ultraman trope but in like very opposite directions. Like "Hey can I copy your homework?" "Sure! Be sure to change it up a bit tho" "*Changes it up A LOT*"
BRUH!!! That opening was nuts! I wasn't sure what was happening 🤣🤣 But thank you for the video. Nostalgic for me. I grew up on Ultraman and other shows like it when I lived in Hawaii!!
“Hey bruh, I’m so sorry. I wasn’t checking my mirrors, however I’ll make it up to you. Take this vape pen, it’ll do wonders for you” “There Hayata, he wields his white vibra- uhhh” Haha
I’ve just been watching the old series with my dad and it’s been amazing, there are so many levels intentional and unintentional that make it incredibly entertaining. I was hoping to find some good ultraman content online and I was not disappointed, thanks!
i loved this show as a kid..im 57 now and i was pretending to be Ultraman as a kindergardener on the playground .. i watched it and also Johnny Sako and his flying robot ..religously ..i didnt much like cartoons though..
Pretty surprised that the Monster Prince two parter wasn’t mention in this review considering Gomora is one of the most iconic monsters in the franchise
The "poem" is actually a Japanese song called Okkusenman(110 billion). It's basically a song about a grown up man reminiscing about their long gone childhood. The song's melody actually uses the BGM of Wily's Castle from Megaman 2. It's a pretty good song and I'd recommend you to listen to both the original version by CHROMES and the cover by the legendary JAM Project(the guys that sung a whole bunch of Garo songs) .
and then we have the manga Ultraman about Shin Hayata's son, Shinjiro Hayata who inherited his "Ultraman genes" as a result of Shin being the host of Ultraman rewrote his DNA making him essentailly a mutant which is then passed down to Shinjiro through birth making him a superhuman and later dons an Ironman-like suit to harness his powers.
I used to run home from school to watch this on tv... Captain Chesapeake had an after school show on channel 45. Ultra Man, Speed Racer, Bullwinkle and a few other ones.
okay ,that poem, was actually the english lyrics to okkusenman, or wily stage 2's remix, which of course mentions "ultraman seven" so yeah, little bit of a correction there ,and also a fun little fact for those who didn't know what that was supposed to be.
I know King Kurok and NEON INFINITY it’s just I wish macrosatsu can tell us and I like ur sense of appeal king Kurok having a hug with eleking would be great and shocking and same for u NEON INFINITY because I want a hug of zetton and u know I want any other ultra kaiju to hug me including some that aren’t ultra kaiju like Godzilla any version will do from 1954 to 2019 it will be great
I actually do have the complete original DVD series. The one with 4 discs. Seeing this video & these clips again makes me wanna go back to watch them again, with a more “self-aware” mindset.
Hello all. I actually grew up on Ultraman watching it on TV. At the time there was no internet or anything so I did not know about all the rest of the Ultraman episodes until later on in life. Now when it came to the original Ultraman the only complaint I had was, everything was high tech. The Beatles yet the science patrol the weapons. My only issue was they drove around in that old POS Chevrolet corvair 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nice video my man. Curious who did that glorious video near the end, they must be really good at contemporary editing and they're bound to have an unjust egotistical personality towards their work. ;>>>
I'm interested in checking out Shin Ultraman when it comes to the United States! I have very limited knowledge of Ultraman and wanted to know more, This video was very helpful, Thanks!
My favorite episode of Ultraman has to be episode 7. I just love how this episode is science patrol exploring the forgotten town somewhere in the desert and discovering that Ultraman has visited Earth before as the statue in the temple suggests. It's a nice change of pace compere to the kaiju of the week (even tho there is one in this episode too).
Trust me man I feel ya I’ve been trying to get better at the voiceover part and yeah daikaiju legends is an awesome guy you should check out their stuff
