It was quite excellent! It felt like a great blend of dark comedy, romance and crime. It could’ve been a hit back in the late 90s and I like movies like that. Huge thumbs up from me! 👍
I love most of Linklater’s films. “Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood" is my favorite. However, “Hit Man” just didn’t click with me. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Keep being awesome Austin!
Watched it when it came out here in the morning, I enjoyed it. Maybe slightly overhyped from the festival but still one of the best of the year. Not that the bar is high. Powell and Arjona had fantastic chemistry. And I agree, I wish they’d shown more of Gary as a teacher and made the initial difference between Gary and Ron more prominent.
“Hit Man” is my #2 movie of the year. List subject to change. 👑#1. Dune: Part Two 🥈#2. Hit Man (Richard Linklater) #3. Love Lies Bleeding #4. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga #5. Challengers #6. Late Night with the Devil #7. Abigail #8. Civil War #9. Last Stop in Yuma County #10. ???
How could you have only a number 9 and 10 slot left for your top ten when you haven't seen all the years have had to offer? Kinda defeats the purpose of a top ten of the year if you solidify slots as you go along.
I first saw Glen Powell in ‘Scream Queens,’ where he portrayed a frat boy named ‘Chad.’ You can imagine how obnoxious he must have been in that role. Haha. I always knew he had potential, but I didn’t realize the extent of his acting range. I’m honestly excited to see his future projects.
I’m a huge Richard Linklater FanBoy so I will probably like this movie. Before Sunrise, BefoRE Sunset, Dazed and Confused, and Boyhood are all in my top 10 favorite films
I also really liked him better as a teacher. His lessons were truly interesting. I also liked that his ex-wife’s pov turned out to be right at the end. Literally. Even though they disagreed.
SPOILER ALERT There is a scene in the movie where "Ron" finds out the femme fatale (if you will) confesses to killing her husband, and the transition Glen Powell does, going from "Ron" back to Gary was so great and hilarious moment that he's becoming one of my favorite actors out right now. The nerd part of me low key, would like him to play Batman one day or the Batman villain Hush lol
I thought the movie started strong but didn't quite stick the landing. It almost felt like they ran out of time in the last 30 minutes or so and had to quickly wrap up the film.
So lets a murderer off , she goes on to kill her husband and rope him in to kill a cop , and they get a happily ever after ? That was the worst ending ever
This movie isn’t available on Netflix in my home country for some reason, but it will be released in theaters nationwide in two weeks. I’m confident that it will be more entertaining to see it in theaters.
This movie was boring AF. Fell asleep to wake up to even more boring screen time. All and any of u think this movie is good is why Hollywood keeps dropping bombs
