The one hitting the high note is Chen. Considered as technically the best 3rd gen male idol in term if vocal ability. Famous for his high notes but at the same times having the most developed low register.

What you saw in the "Obsession" MV was that EXO's doppelgangers were actually their alter ego clones and they were using their superpowers, such as Chanyeol with his fire power, Sehun uses his wind power to deflect the arrows and Suho controls water in the room with all the pictures of water, etc. to fight their other selves. You see the planet on fire in the end of the MV because it's supposed to show how the world is coming to an end as EXO (the good guys in all black) and X-EXO (the evil ones in the colorful outfits with crazy hair and makeup) battle for control, etc. X-EXO has been created by the evil Red Force and EXO and X-EXO are fighting each other. EXO are trying to prevent X-EXO from taking over and corrupting humanity and X-EXO are trying to stop EXO from finding the Tree of Life and putting the two halves back together and restoring peace, etc. To truly understand EXO you need to understand that EXO debuted in 2012. "Mama" is EXO's debut song and MV and It is how EXO was introduced to the world and it explains the group's concept. So to really understand EXO, if you haven't already, you need to start from the very beginning and watch both of their "Mama" MVs. From day one, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet Exo and they came to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one, if not all of them, using their powers. Exo, as in exoskeleton, means "outer," so as a member of EXO they are outside the ordinary.The group's concept comes from the real term exoplanet, which is a term that is used for a planet that is outside our solar system, so their name was chosen to represent the fact that they are stars that are "out of this world" when it comes to their talents. EXO's concept is also connected to real life planetary and solar events, so several of EXO's comebacks and new song releases for the main group of EXO are timed to when eclipses and other planetary phenomenons take place. For example, their comeback for their War album and Power repackaged album coincided with when we had a solar eclipse, etc. SM Entertainment, and its founder, Lee SooMan, has all of EXO's release dates and concepts planned out for years in advance, and it often has something to do with real celestial events that are predicted to take place. Now you also need to know that In the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. So to really understand their full origin story you have to watch both the K and the M version of "Mama", because the EXO-K version focuses on the K members and their powers and the EXO- M version focuses on the M members and their powers. However, since then, 3 of the 4 Chinese members have left the group (short answer to focus on their solo work back in China) but there is still one Chinese member left, Lay. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 of the members. Kris and Luhan left in 2014 and Tao left in 2015.) However, now, because they no longer have enough Chinese members they no longer do separate promotions, but they still produce almost all of their MVs and main songs in both Korean and Mandarin they just now promote all as one big group EXO with 9 members. However, in the "Obsession" MV there are only 6 members -- Suho, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, Kai and Sehun -- because 2 of the members -- D.O. and Xiumin -- are on hiatus during this comeback as they serve in the military; and due to the political issues between the Korean and Chinese government, Lay -- their Chinese member -- was unable to participate in activities with the group. So each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story, and over the years we fans have started to create a timeline and idea of what we think each part of the story is telling us. However, the introduction of "Obsession's" part of the story really threw all of our theories for a loop and it has made us question everything we have ever thought was happening in EXO's storyline. Since "Obsession" some think maybe EXO has been trapped somewhere from the very beginning and it has been X-EXO that we have been following all along. But I think it's still even more complex than that. I think at times we have been watching EXO and at times we have been watching X-EXO -- with the release of "Obsession" we have only just discovering that it hasn't necessarily been EXO the whole time. With the new information provided to us through "Obsession," it also makes me question how Lay fits within the X-EXO/EXO storyline. Maybe he is one of the members who has been able to break free or avoid the Red Forces' control. In Lay's solo MV for "Sheep," the Allen Walker relift version, we see everything burning outside as if an apocalypse is happening. Maybe "Sheep" is showing us the planet burning from Lay's viewpoint, like we see the world burning at the end of the "Obsession" MV. Also, I believe that the storyline in "Obsession" is connected to SuperM's "Jopping" storyline. If you pay attention to what Baekhyun and Kai were wearing in the "Obsession" MV, those outfits are very similar to the black outfits that Baekhyun and Kai are wearing in "Jopping." Kai is even wearing the same backpack parachute in both MVs. Which seems to be SM Entertainment's way of making sure we see the connection between those MVs. So because the members in black are supposed to be the EXO members who are the good guys, it seems to also indicate that the members who are in SuperM are the EXO members and not their X-EXO clones. So it is thought that, as part of SuperM's storyline, EXO has gathered the best of the best of SM's groups -- EXO, Taemin/SHINee, NCT/WayV -- to help them battle the Red Force and maybe eventually take down X-EXO. Just like the Marvel Avengers come together as individual superheroes with their own storylines to create the Avengers and to fight evil, it is thought that SuperM is coming together to create the ultimate supergroup to help EXO fight the evil and corruption inflicted on humanity by the Red Force. Unfortunately, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order, so we as EXO-L (EXO fans) have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of all of their teasers, MVs, song lyrics, albums, concert VCRs, choreography and even live performances and piece it all together to understand the story behind it all. To help you pinpoint the powers being used in their MVs and live performances here is a list of the members and what their special power is. EXO-K 💦 Suho (Kim JunMyeon) is the leader of the group and he is a lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control water (Fun fact: Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO. That's why as the leader of EXO, his stage name is Suho) 💡Baekhyun is a main vocalist and his superpower is the ability to control light 🔥Chanyeol is the main rapper and lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control fire and his spirit animal is the phoenix. 🌏D.O. (Do KyungSoo) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control earth (dirt) which gives him strength/force ☄Kai (Kim JongIn) is a main dancer, lead vocalist and sub-rapper and his power is teleportation. (Kai means opening as in a door or gateway, so his stage name symbolizes his role within EXO's storyline.) 🌪Sehun is the youngest member of the group and he is a lead rapper, lead dancer and a vocalist -- his power is the ability to control wind EXO-M ❄Xiumin (Kim MinSeok) is the oldest member of the group and he is a lead vocalist and lead rapper and his power is the ability to control snow/ice (frost) 🦄 Lay (Zhang Yixing) is the Chinese member of the group, he is a main dancer, lead vocalist and rapper -- his power is the ability to heal anything. 🌩 Chen (Kim JongDae) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control thunder/lightning/electricity (As you can see, Xiumin and Chen were given stage names that sounded more Chinese so they would fit in better in EXO-M because they are the Korean members of the Chinese unit) The Chinese members who have now left the group: 🐉 Kris was the leader of EXO-M he was a main rapper and vocalist -- his power was the ability to fly and his spirit animal was a dragon 💭 Luhan was a main vocalist and his power was telekinesis (The ability to control things with his mind) ⏰Tao (Z. The concept for Obsession is a fight between EXO vs X-EXO (in simple terms their alternate ego who are with the Red Force) so you can observe that every member has 2 different styles in the video. A lot of fighting scenes with the use of their powers according to their concepts.

The story behind this is also mind blowing ... EXO have a storyline since their debute it's them fighting an evil force and in this video we discovered that they were cloned by this evil power and they're fighting them so you see the good ones and the bad ones that's why this song have this dark scary vibe

This song is about EXO fighting their alter ego or their inner demons which are the X-EXO and you can see it in the mv the two different visuals of the same person. One is the normal EXO and the other is the "evil" EXO. This is still part of their concept but I'm not smart enough to tell you the theory behind it. I get excited everytime I see there's a new reaction video from your channel so thank you for making one everyday. It showed here that you responded to my comments on the last video but i couldn't find them. Superhuman by NCT is not very recent is 2 years old, however i think is worth checking out. F(x), Red Velvet and Shinee are other sm groups that are often praised because of their out of the box production, they are very heavy on the harmonies and vocals as well because they they usually are inspired by R&B. But they also experiment a lot, for example some of the first songs EXO released have rock influences and they even do screamo on "Mama". i think you gonna have a lot of fun and surprises analyzing kpop, starting with sm groups is great idea cause honestly they they release the best music in kpop in my opinion at least, but also there is a lot great stuff outside of sm too. Well that was kinda long but i hope it helps on your journey.

I love how you notice how incredibly well planned and top notch production is for this MV too. People dont realise EXO is not only vocally great, but SM Entertainment does put a lot into their MV and theme too. Round of applause to this midrange kpop lead company (inside joke). i can hardly find below average production style of MV from SM, and fact that theyre not always producing a bop song after first hearing (to me the sounds are so complicated.. am i making sense?) so it takes couple of replays to go “wHat iN tHE ?” 👏🏻

Concept wise for obsession mv is that we have come to the part of their Neverending storyline concept in which their enemy (The red force) has created evil clones or doppelgangers of Exo called X-EXO. they are the ones in colorful outfits with joker vibes while the army dressed in black normal guys are EXO. you see them battling each other. Keep in mind that each member in accordance to their concept, has a super power that's why you see fire(chanyeol) and water(suho) used here.

It will sound strange the first time you hear it but if you keep listening it will ring a bell. SM is always experimenting with different music genres so people sometimes underestimate their music even though their music is really good especially for people who understand music. Producer Lee Soo man always chooses songs according to the artist's concept. If you don't mind, you can hear SNSD's song "I got a boy" the song is touted as the Korean version of bohemian rhapsody. They're like a one shop stop group. Everything is them. I think its the DFTF with back up dancers only. They dance, act, sing plus visuals.. To understand more about EXO, i think you should watch Mama, Wolf and Growl and watch guide about this group. EXO is a group that follow their concept. If you are amazed with their video, they are much better live... And sexy to add.

In that era (Obsession) they are only 6 there because 2 of the members are in the military and 1 is in China (note that they are 9 members). The one hitting the hightnotes is Chen, one of the 3 main vocalist of EXO. Chen, D.O, Baekhyun, are the main vocalists of EXO, but all the EXO members can sing. Main vocalist can rap. They are so talented that their whole concept suits them. 😅 Chen can also sing the lowest note among EXO members, meanwhile Xiumin, can sing the highest note among EXO members (there's a video on that, they are on a variety show). When I've heard this song for the first time, it's felt like a slap on my face like a hard slapped on face.... Exo always giving a surprise to us.. I thought Monster is quite dark enough but no ... Obsession given you more darker vibes because of the storyline..... they're fighting with the evil versions of themselves... that's why you're see fighting scenes in the music video... Baekhyun is fencing with his evil clone,Sehun is trying to kill his evil version of him and failed and Chanyeol is fighting with evils self with fire and Kai trying to chase with evil self too .... There's a lot darker than their previous songs, that's why when you listen for first time it's like a hard slapped on your face ....😹😹😹 Thank you for giving us an elaborate details of the song and the hight notes... it's Chen, he's currently serving in military right now.. Hey, just want to let you know that I enjoy your reaction and analysis of Exo songs so immensely. I know how complex most of them are and I think one of the reasons the producers can go wild with their creation of music is because they know the Exo members have the capability to deliver every single one of them. I think many of us (especially the ones who really stan Exo that deeply) are aware of the many layers involved in most of their songs, sometimes can even pinpoint who's doing the background vocals and harmonies, but it's very interesting to see you dissecting it into structures and sections. And I'm glad you notice the intricacies of their MV sets, but just want to let you know, Exo has a whole universe with complex stories and twists that has been present since debut until now. So for us fans, it's not just a single MV by itself, but it'd be tied up to the previous few MVs, or even future ones, as well as their concerts VCRs and stage props/effects.
