This Hitachi was my first encounter with a video camera as a kid in 1985. It was owned by my Dad´s employer and luckily I was allowed to toy with it quite a lot.
10 years later, in 1995, I picked it up again to shoot some test footage and was positively surprised by the color reproduction it gave. The VK C850 actually looked somehow better than my JVC VHS-C Camcorder (CCD, 1988) even though it was "only" a one-tube Saticon consumer oriented camera. Unfortunately the test footage suffers a bit from low lighting in the home and this tube camera definitely needs light...
It would be great to test this camera today with direct video capture (only VHS back then), but I don´t have access to it anymore.
Anyway I hope this is of interest to somebody.
Recorded in February 1995 on a Grundig VHS Videorecorder.
Transferred using a JVC S-VHS Videorecorder and Canopus ADVC110.
Deinterlaced with MSU Deinterlacer within VirtualDub.
Upscaled to 720p using Lanczos3 to avoid RU-vid downsizing to 480p.
