I have a similar video camera (Hitachi VM-2580e), and it also has a non-working viewfinder! I understand radio engineering, but I could not fix it. The video signal can be obtained from the connector that is at the bottom of the camera (it is rectangular). My camera, unfortunately, over time showed color distortions and noises, this is most likely a matrix problem. There were also spoiled electrolytic capacitors. Perhaps they were powered by a 12 volt source, and because of this they break down.
In 1993/94 this camera sold for $799USD, Rick musta bought it used? NC= North Carolina, USA. I don't have any Hatachi anythings...I do have a Panasonic with a body and hand grip design very similiar, I find it challenging to rest it on my shoulder, the body length for me is to short. What's wrong with the viewfinder? It's very plausible you will need to tear it down and replace the capacitors? Very nice camera my friend! ~Jack, VEG
Hey! Great video! I really want to get a nice classy VHS camera, do you know anything about Hitachi vm-2400e? Also you have any footage from this camera so we all could know the performance
