"All religions, with their gods, their demigods, and their prophets, their messiahs and their saints, were created by the credulous fancy of men who had not attained the full development and full possession of their faculties" - Mikhail Bakunin
Prof. Hitchens explains & debunks the whole religion charade excellently. The whole notion of you'll get "pie in the sky, when you die," is ludicrous. I'll take my pie NOW, thanks.
@@lawrence1318 Do you know who Christopher Hitchens is he destroyed every Christian argument I’ve ever heard and if you find an argument he’s lost send it to me
Scott, you're spot on. Hitch was a critical thinker, and that scares religious people to death. You can see it in their eyes, when you disagree with their pat, mythological belief system. To profess to be a Christian, means you wish to be "Christ-like." (Personally, I really wish they would leave that poor, Black, Jewish gay carpenter alone...). Disagree with them, and watch the nastiness ferment. Look, if they want to believe in some deity, that absolutely ignores the egregious suffering of the humanity he/she/it created, that their business. My issue, is when they attempt to coerce, extort or force others, to go down the magical rabbit hole, with them. Many of them are so deep into the fraud, Alice and the Mad Hatter are their UPSTAIRS neighbors! Stick to your guns, Scott.
The sun shall grow into a red giant. The sea shall boil away. The land shall melt with fervent heat. But this shall not happen until 5 billion years shall pass. Therefore, do not wait around.
@@raymondthebrotherofperryma1403 LOL. Did a rudimentary quick read on the H-R diagram. If your info is correct, we've got a rather long while to hear more about Armageddon. (and godz wrath, et al). Thanks for the reply.
@@justaguywithaturban6773 you crazy lol, athiesm isn't even a thing, its a word that describes a rejection of a supernatural god in the absence of evidence
@ᒎᗩᗰIᗴ ǤᗩᒪᒪOᗯᗩƳ Atheism actually is a thing, because atheism isn’t fundamental, there’s no evidence for atheism to be absolute to be fundamental, so to say "there’s a god" (theism) requires evidence and to say "there’s no god“ (atheism) requires evidence. Do you have the evidence that god or the supernatural doesn’t exist ?
@@justaguywithaturban6773 That’s like saying “there’s magical unicorns inside the sun because you can’t prove otherwise” is just as valid as “It is unlikely for there to be magical unicorns inside the sun because there’s no matter that can stay solid in those temperatures” Listen to yourself. You’re making up something (god) and saying oh you can’t prove it isn’t true so i must be right.
4500 dollars for a free plea bargain although it did cost me my constitutional rights and 7 permanent felonies but hey atleast i got this neat little christian business card. Lol.
Christopher explains the death pact that is religion, very well. I grew up pretty well knowing the notion of an all omnipotent god, was a crock. (recovering catholic here). He's 100% correct, it's insidious and harmful. When children lose a grandparent, sometimes people conjure up "magical sky pixies," to wisely avoid traumatizing children over the finality of death. I get that. So, when granny's laying in the box, looking like a bad science fair project, a "she's in a magical place Jazzercising, with all her old, dead friends," is appropriate. However, like the fat, jolly elf who hands out toys, the myth needs to be disclosed. Thankfully for humanity, more people are waking up to the nonsense, the outright scam, religion has eroded into. Last polls I looked at, 40% of French responders to a poll, had no belief in a deity...none, zip. Again, people are smarter, freeflow of information, advancement in sciences, are putting religious beliefs on the run. Even P.T. Barnum knew when to "fold the tent" and move onto the next town. TV preachers, with their bad bouffants, are starting to sound shrill. They're slapping that tambourine for cash at a feverish pitch, as the pool is shrinking. They know the proverbial jig is up, as they desperately search for someone else, to finance their lavish lifestyle. The sexual crimes committed worldwide, by the religious clergy, are catching up with this fraud, as well. These people are criminals, of the lowest order, imv. Christopher Hitchens will be warmly remembered as a teller of the truth. Rest well, Hitch
He's approaching it from a angry place, the reason christians want the world to pass is so the next can begin, and the "condemnation" is more like a fulfillment of what one asks for in life aka justice
Sorry, not buying it. Hitchens isn't angry, he's just telling you the truth. If you're offended, that is indeed, your problem. If your source is The Bible, let me tell you where I stand on that fictitious book. At best, it's bad science fiction. The only use a logical person would have, with a one inch wide Bible, is if you had a chair leg that was one inch off, with the other three. That's about it.
All those in the comments section who think this guy has something useful to say, need to read the New Testament, for you only like what he's saying because you don't realise that he's shooting down a straw man: his characterisation of Christianity is the very antithesis of what it actually is, and you people need to come to realise this by doing your own study. So do some WORK and read the New Testament. Don't just go on hearsay and watch RU-vid clips, but do some actual WORK.
Lawrence, don't take this the wrong way, but you sound shrill and defensive. Christopher Hitchens got close to you, didn't he? I'd rather read Ray Bradbury, as he writes better sci-fi, than the bible. Thanks anyway.
Hitchens Destroys Religion - don't make me laugh🤣. Just showing his total ignorance by colossal generalisations and half truths twisted to make the gullible believe he's right.
Mr Hitchens, is totally correct on every point. Religion is a sham. There are no gods, sky pixies or angelic beings. Humans, like all biological creatures, will be born, live and then die. Simple as that, really. Have a nice day.
This person could not be further from the Truth. We don't want this world destroyed with everyone in it, but it will be renewed back to the image that God first created it before the fall of mankind. Not all of us Christians believe in the rapture, but we do believe that Jesus Christ will return as King and Lord over all. We don't look forward to death, but we expect eternal life and a resurrected body and our eternity will be on earth. It is not death that we celebrate, but Life. We believe that separation from God is death, which is a result of sin, which is any rebellion against God.
@@ryeman6935 That answer is simple. Natural Order; Natural Selection. I've studied the bible for many years; believe it or not it was what made me abandon christianity. The truth is in the old testament. But you must decipher it with an understanding of science. I may have accepted that Jesus was nothing but a Martyr; but I do believe in God. And God gives his wisdom only to those who do not fear death and have a logical way of thinking.
Jesus? Please leave that poor, Black, Jewish, gay carpenter alone. He had tolerant philosophies, that today, would get him hanged by his own "followers." Please.
What an incredible man. The world hasn't just lost a great thinker and communicator, but a fierce freedom fighter! Does anybody know where to find the full episode of this debate? Thanks
