Hi everyone. Thanks for the continued support on my content. It really means a lot reading all of your beautiful comments. I will 100% be back in India in September for good and will be exploring Indias deepest regions, speaking to locals and sharing their stories. Stay Tuned. - Mike Okay x P.S If anyone can help me find Dorjai, the guy who picked me up and gave me the energy drink and we sang songs together, I want him to see the video. I never got his contact details. x
I think Army personal tried to say, they were heading towards Nyoma which is protected area due to nearer Chinese border. (where foreigners & we too need permit to visit.) If you had said you needed lift till Upshi then they should be fine. Usually army give lift in my experience very often - and especially for sure at times where and when chances to get help from others is less..
3-4 years ago terrorist attacked army personnel bus and 40+ soldiers died Although its obvious that they will not allow public for lift They can help in other ways
Such big heart of those truck drivers they fed u. Indian trucking is the most difficult and these people deserve utmost respects from the countrymen. These road warriors are the one who keep our economy alive and robust. Jai hind and salute to all truck drivers of india. 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
the truck driver and the conductor showed it doesn't matter how rich you are or poor , you should have a warm heart , share whatever you have to the needy , in this case our host , they shared ride , food and a good company . Atithi devo bhava ❤
Your Hindi is more fluent than mine ... It's always fun to watch your Videos ... The way you present the positivity in going through all the places is Remarkable.....
Oh my gosh, that was scary. It made me realise and appreciate the extremely harsh conditions indian army operates in to secure our borders. I am from Haryana close to delhi but never seen snow and such terrain in my life. There's so much to see in my own country.
Our Indian Soldiers fought and won the war of Kargil and most of the battle were fought at hill tops which were like 15000 to 18000 feet above the ground. Our Indian Army is one of strongest and bravest army in the entire world.
We don't appreciate our country enough. Yes, we are strong, resilient people. But, comparisons might bring our morale down. We forget that sometimes.. and sit and compare ourselves with others ... Look at that country and this continent and blabla. We are strong ; we have wisdom in our roots -- the Upanishads and other such great texts and wise beings who have experientially realized the truth time and again.
Military people have an important duty to do, they already have a huge responsibility of their own, and now if you are with them and some enemy attack their convoy, and something bad happen to you also, it will become a serious issue, especially for the commander who gave permission
As an Indian, i can proudly say, it is rare to find such hospitality and support of local people anywhere else apart from India, they were always eager to help u
can't disagree more, nowadays hospitality in India is only limited to hilly areas and some rural areas of plain India. And bruh just go to Afghanistan, Iran, Kurdistan they will treat you like their own people
@@ceoofracism5713you re absolutely wrong ,hospiatlity in india is on next level, they towed my broken bike ,paid for it when i lost my money ,gave me some money and food during my tour .Hands down to indian people❤❤❤❤
Exactly what I told the other hitchhikers. Locals do not know that word. Even I didn't know that word. Use the word - "lift" and thumb pointing to the direction you are going as a signal you need a lift.
Bro, I love your vlogging style.. you are very cool..your select phrases of Hindi are just perfect for connecting with the locals. I did a similar thing in 1992 ..I was travelling back to Manali from Leh on a local bus.. We reached Rohtang pass and I suddenly had no ride. I had no issues hitching a ride with a lori (truck) driver from Rohtang Pass to Manali...Those were some of the best times of my life!
Hey dude! What an awesome comment to wake up and read. Love hearing travel stories from other people and I’m so glad I sparked some nostalgia in your own life. Thanks for the support 😁😁
Even though I am a native Ladakhi, I still have not explored the region and I could not imagine how to navigate through it and you changed states just like that, with happy..positive vibes! So so cool and what a heartwarming vlog. Keep going! 🤍🌊
Not gonna lie, I am an India who lives in central India (place where not even earthquakes come) and when i visited Himachal and did a tour to masoori i guess I had to take the mountain road and I was scared af. Those were some of the most dangerous roads. Kudos to our brothers in transport, army, medical staff, etc who have to travel on mountain roads all the time for the people. It's very dangerous.
I travelled 10 states of North India hitchhiking back in 2016 and I'd say India is a pretty safe country for hitchhiking. It was tremendously fun for me I hope you are enjoying as well. Best wishes man !
himachal is full of thrills, i'm glad you went to HP, idk why people think "India means only Delhi, Mumbai, UP, etc... I mean there's entire north east and south india too & Ladakh. I love to see Himalayan mountains whenever i go to my village in Dharamshala
This is the first time am watching this video and honestly I've never subscribed to any vlogger but your content is truly amazing. Your unique experience with the travels is just refreshing to watch. You are amazing. I would love to see more from you. Definitely subscribed to your amazing channel.
Hi Monk. Sorry for the late reply. This was seriously such a nice comment to read i had to send it to my friends and family. Its opinions like this that give me this enormous drive to keep filming my adventures. Ill be back later in the year with more content. I hope to hear from you again then. Thanks so much for your support! - Mike Okay x
@@manurvabhah only in some select countries with either 1) Large land areas like US and China 2) or countries like India which have perfect size and location to get different flora and fauna and different wheather in 4 different corners of our country. Like west have desert while east have perfect sceneries of forest while north have very beautiful glaciers you can get a perfect hot and humid wheather in south and if you want a good mixture of all those you can come to central India. With 3 ocean covering from sides and highest moutain ranges covering the top and rivers flowing across all the country to give fertile land you can't ask for any perfect geography than this.
Man, you just showed me something that I'd probably never have the chance of doing, been to Ladakh many times but seeing it from a truck through you, will follow your journey, good luck
Hey Arjun. Was awesome waking up and reading your comments this morning. I really appreciate the support bro! I’m taking a break back in the UK for a few months but I’ll be back later in the year with more adventures. Keep supporting and stay in touch! Mike 🤜🏻🤛🏻
I watched your video for the first time and has been deeply impressed by the way you have been engaging with the common people on the street. It's amazing! I am an Indian basically and have been living in Canada for many years . I can assure you that you would hardly find such friendly and cooperative people at other places! Keep exploring incredible India!🇨🇦🇮🇳
Hey brother don't feel bad about army guys not giving you lift. They need to follow certain protocols in J&K we have hostile neighborhoods in east and west side of J &K.😊
Hi,mike found you by luck and was delighted that you were in jammu my hometown . You have became one my fav traveler youtuber ,better than overated famous travelers. and i hope you are doing ok ,havnt uploaded since month...IM carving for more youtube videos, mate
Hello mate. This was such a great message to read. You made my day. Thanks so much. I’m taking a bit of a break because I need to be at home and save up some money. I will 100% be back towards the end of next year and I’ll be back for a long time. Keep in touch! ❤️
Hi Mr. Mike.... I have watched this video twice.... I love it..... You are really a very cool man.... Our Army men refused to lift you but you smiled and said it's ok..... Love you bro......🙏🙏❤️❤️
@@pokarsaranjat3941 Maine likha ki bhai jagah pe depend karta hai ki lift milegi ya nahi. Jaise Delhi ki road pe koi life kyu dega. Par aise regions me connectivity Kam hoti hai, koi public transport nahi hota asani se. Isliye logo ka beech me fasna aur lift maanga logical hai. Aur isliye log rok dete hai
Epic ! Liked the pictures around Leh. It is not a good idea to be be on the mountain road when the conditions are icy, wet and slippery. The first time I visited the Rohtang pass was from Manali in summer about 15 years back. I took a local government minibus tour of the pass from Manali. I was shocked how the driver was nonchalantly driving up the winding road with sheer cliffs on one side. Even then there were stretches of the road where the asphalt has been washed away by heavy rains. The next time I went to the region I just flew from Delhi to Leh :)
I don't know how I came to watch a 1-year-old video, but I liked it a lot. Your videos are much much better than those bloggers who stay and eat in 5-star hotels and review hotel toilets.
Bro, come visit Nagaland, in northeast India. You will see how diverse our country is! The people here are very welcoming, friendly and amazing as well!
best bonus tip is "always plan your hitchhiking according to the seasons that are currently going on there". a smart and planned guy never goes in snow region especially in trucks
5:05 they usually give u free foods and stuff if u ask them . I think they didn't give u lift on army vehicle, maybe the truck is loaded with new arms of Sig 716 and others to chinese border , i seen some youtube videos or foreigners getting lot of help from indian army, maybe that's the reason he didn't let u in. Glad that other people stop for ya. Phew, i didn't thought of snow in india, in here we have a lot of rains n forest n waterfalls n hill stations like that (my hometown Kerala) Hearts from Kerala ❤️🙏
@@mikeokaywe have a very friendly neighbor called "fuckistan" .... Just because of their kindness we're fucked up... That's why INDIAN army never left any civilians... It's army protocol..... !!!
One thing that i adore about u mike is that u adust urself according to the surrounding without disrespecting anyone..... Ur so humble nd nice... Loved ur video and i am subscribing u now❤
Came across this channel...i am from Himalayan mountains of Uttrakhand, extensively travelled Kashmir, ladakh, presently living in Canada. It is amazing to see this video..all memories came back! U r amazing with local people ❤🥰loving your series! ❤🥰
Well I just ended watching all your videos haha...hope you are fine and your health is good...expecting you to come back soon to India and start your beautifull vlogs again
Hey dude. This is such a great comment to read and it really inspires me to keep creating! I’ll be back in india later this year jumping straight back into making some more videos. Thanks for supporting DM and take care of yourself ❤️
I love the number plate on our Army trucks...............preceded by and arrow pointing up................Head held high skywards............That officer politely refused awesome.......
You can hitch hike with the Army but Jammu and Kashmir is a very sensitive place brother thats why you cant hitch hike with the Army because there's alot of things going on ..
My heart skipped watching that truck skidding in snow, thank Gad all went well...I’m from Himachal but lately avoiding travelling when it rains and snow because of landslides and mountains giving up because of environmental conditions and trees and land being cut in-technologically... Take care and be safe👍🏻
Those truck drivers are absolute demigods as well, I can’t imagine that being my day/night job, and to think that maybe something that I probably ordered online travelled through those roads on one of those trucks…. I absolutely commend the bravery these drivers possess!
