I'm not going to avoid Download just because of dance acts, but def think that as Download is a rock festival, it should stick to that genre. Plenty more acts to be announced. Fingers crossed for next announcements!

I went to Benicassim 2011, and saw C&S live there. I'm a metalhead, but I like to keep an open mind, and to be honest, the fact there were mosh pits before C&S even started playing really drew parallels in my mind to the way metal fans react to metal bands. C&S are the metal band of dubstep. If you don't like C&S, simply don't see them live then, and if there isn't enough choice at the festival not to see them live, then go to a better festival.
i used to be a "metal head", up until i left school 11 years ago, discovered further genres of music, and i stopped hating people based on music taste. Metalheads are generally narrowminded and down right ignorant, its time to broaden your horizons, lets face it, is there truly any "metal" still being made today? the answer is a "no, not really", people need not moan about chase and status and embrace the music and realise they are a tremendous live act.
The thing about Download this year is; Black Sabbath are playing. Anyone in the right mind would never miss out on the return on the greatest band ever.
@TheRealistUG You're right. If anything, Pendulum is, because atleast they've mixed the two genres, and guess what, saw them live too at Beni11 and there were mosh pits through out. I say C&S are the metal of dubstep simply because the level of fandom they've reached - on par I'd say with what metal bands were achieving in the 80s, but that's just my opinion. If you want underground dubstep, then don't go to festivals at all - find your local soundsystem!
@Doomistic no, see the quotation marks to the left and right of "metal" and "head" ?, if you was even slightly educated you'd understand this means i was using the term loosely. And really, metal DOESNT get produced, no where near the amount as it used to anyway
I agree with the You Me At Six thing though, I saw them at Sonisphere because my mate liked them and they were utter shite. I've never been so bored watching a band in all my life. But at least Trivium and Biffy are playing!!!
I`ve just listened to C&S, worse than I originally thought, Dub Step, Rave whatever, the promoters obviously wooried about ticket sales being low, so put on a pop band and drag in some mugs from other Genres to prop the sales up.
Yes, its a rock festival, some people that like rock live dubstep and drum and bass as well. i quite frankly love the prodigy, chase and status isnt my cup of tea, but if it attracts download more fans then i dont see why not, theres other stages. Look on the bright side, we have Sabbath and Metallica!
haha love this video but i've seen chase and status live and loved it so i'm happy they've been announced :) You Me At Six however are oe of my pet hates. hopefully they clash with Sabbeth or something else good so i can go to them instead.
@chazvasskilljoy no its because Download is supposed to be the Rock Festival not a fucking pop festival. The only reason why The Prodigy is accepted is because well they are brilliant and have more of a fan base. Download festival imho should go back to Monsters of Rock.
Chase And Status Belong At Download More than You Me At Six, i like Dnb But it shouldnt be everywhere, but you me at six are the worst choice you could ever make, although Soundgarden, Black Sabbath, Prodigy, Tenacious D and loads others are gonna rock the bells
@thequikness420 who says im a metal head? i just happen to be a fan of black sabbath but they dont belong at a festival with lamb of god and machine head on the bill thats like eating a cookie wrapped in a ham and cheese omelette and he may not be able to string a sentence together but he can still play a good show and sing seeing as i saw him live 2 years ago but like you said each to their own but its just odd having them there

@killingspiders1 Well no, this is a parody of Hitler getting angry about shit bands that have been announced. Bring Me the Horizon and Parkway haven't been announced so that would no sense. You might wanna look at the lineup sometime...
@chriswhiteisawanker They have alot of dubstep influence in their music. Regardless, they shouldnt be on download. I dont hate electronic music, infact im very much into it and have checked out both Chase & Status albums... they are an average band at the genres they try to do. They dont belong at download festival, they should be on V festival.
i must say, i like chase and status and drum and bass. but playing at download? WHAT THE FUCK?! its supposed to be a rock and metal festival, and they are not rock or metal! prodigy i can understand, theyve always been considered electronic rock. but chase and status. what the hell were they thinking

Music is opinion related, its still music, if you dislike it fair enough, some people dont like brussel sprouts, it doesnt mean they are a shitty vegetable, it just means some people dont like sprouts! Oh and no i dont see people hating on the prodigy like they USED TO at these kind of things. if you shut up and listen, you might discover something you LIKE.
@Quartet82 by proper music im guessing you are relating to bands that use guitars and drums, or other actual "instruments" as opposed to synthesized music created 100% via a computer software. Right, ever listened t ochase and status? Because heres a shock..they use instruments...its a shame NERO isnt playing, because when people refer to that as non proper music, i like to head them to the live 15 minute long 2808 dubstep symphony, with violins harps double bass and the works. BROADEN MAN.
@GOOB3000 I can understand c+s seeming like a strange optyion, hell, i love them but i find it strange, but instead of people hating, why not give them a chance? people may discover a new artist they like on this day, but theyre going into it all negative and shit
I know haters gonna hate and whatnot. But this whole video is hating on Chase and Status, "That drum and bass rubbish" and "wob wob" stuff is still music. Some people dont like metal so settle down.
@BamBam69ification Yeh and how long have Sabbath been around??? 50 years... Chase & Status have been around for like 6 years and have done alot for DnB and Dubstep in that time.... Respect the artists man each to their own..... But to say they dont deserve to be there because Sabbath is playing is pretty pathetic of you to say.... I mean you are trying to compare 2 different types of music from very different eras of time... It cant be done
@thequikness420 While Sabbath are old and tired out now.... they invented their own fucking genre! Chase & Status just copied a load of past electronic and dance styles, nothing new or exciting there.

@thequikness420 i listen to dub step but i still dont think they are nowhere near as good as black sabbath sabbath inspired almost 50 years of artists where as chase and status only introduced a wider audience i think they are alright but they havent got what sabbath have or will

But Chase & Status have aken dubstep and D&B more into the mainstream which i may not like but good on them for getting a wider audience to listen to DnB.... You say they invented a "genre"which is total bullshit... No one invented metal it was synthesized over time by taking elements of different genres... All Black Sabbath did was take it more into the spot light very much like C&S did with DnB & Dubstep...
They are on because proper rock music is commercially dead, same goes for metal. Unless its a bunch of pretty boys with their nice side sweeping emo hair cuts and whiney american accents you dont have a chance. As for Chase & Status well, Downloads been known to make some strange choices, remember Lethal Bizzle or whoever it was? Blame the scene kids for Chase & Status getting on, seeing as they all love "dubstep".
