Hitler's prisons were like Disneyland next to the Jewish prisons in Russia and in the Ukraine. At least in Hitlers prisons there were Olympic size swimming pools, commissaries, brothels, soccer fields, theaters, and prisoners were paid with money to spend. None of that was in the Jewish prisons.
@@terrygabrich4806 NO. You do not get to lie and minimize the suffering of Nazi concentration camp victims. In Europe, this would get you into legal trouble, and deservedly. What a disgusting thing to even imagine.
I have been fighting cancer for 4 years. Through that time you have kept my mind off of that and enriched my life with your stories. Thank you!! You never know who you are helping. God Bless
My Great Uncle was stationed at Landsberg! Thank you so much for posting this! I love seeing where my Great Uncle walked. He was a prison guard there during the war crime trials there. I have original photos of him there, some of his documents, news paper clippings and whole NPs, some of his insignia pieces, german souvenirs, IDs and passes, a Landsberg post card signed by a handful of men tried at the Dachau Trials, and a ton more. He passed away in 86 so I never got to meet him.
My wife and I were at Landsburg the past fall. We actually went into the parking lot and took pictures until a guard came out and told us we couldn’t. He was actually very nice and gave us a little history of the prison and told us Hitlers cell was now a storage area. We did not know about the graveyard but knew about the concentration camp just outside of town. It was one of three work camps that is still original and slowly falling apart. Very interesting
You've just answered the question that came to mind when he said it was still in use as a prison......is Cell #7 still in use? I'm glad it's now just a mundane storage area.
What your commenting on JD is a warning of what can happen again in the United States, people think this past is dead and forgotten, but don’t realize for everyone of those evil men buried there there’s someone now in the present who are attempting to pick up and continue carrying that torch for them, great job on your documentary’s, keep bringing this valuable history as a reminder to never go down that road ever again!
Yes, indeed. It's very frightening that so very many Americans carry so very much hate and violent vehemence against some of their fellow Americans, just the same as the Nazi's, there's no difference between them. Do "the p.r.o.u.d boys" wear brown shirts? bet they hide their cowardly faces.
so true, in australia a group went out for dinner, they asked if the could bring in a birthday cake. guess what , it was hitlers birthday. the cake had his picture on it and they done a nazi salute. the police were called. it is illigak in australia to fly the nazi flag or anything like that. heavy fines or even jail. good on ya ben
So says the guy that says nothing about the people that's running this world into the ground right now and starting World War 3 and all the other atrocities they've done over the decades.
Thank you for doing this one. The history is frightening and shocking that evil like that actually prevailed for for 6 long years. Let us never forget what terrible crimes were committed to the deprivation of humankind during that time.
When I was in France, Belgium & Holland last year, it was eerie visiting the German graves, very cold, very weird, got a creepy feeling seeing all those flat grave stones, some with 2 or 3 under the same stone. Our guide told us the Belgians did not want them buried on their land, but I guess there was no way to get them back to Germany at that time. I also had no idea so many were actually hung/shot after the war. I had only read where many Nazis escaped their death sentences one way or another. Thank you for this great information!
JD, you are living a life that I could only dream of. Anytime I see a new video, everything stops and I learn something new about history. Keep up the good work, my friend.
JD I love all your videos!!! I am an old grandma who really loves world War II history and civil war history ! I find your videos fascinating and extremely educational! Keep making your awesome content!!!

I think in this country we need to reform schools from the bottom up. Tell teach history like it really happened the good. The bad. The ugly. How under payed our teachers are and seriously deal with students for misbehaving just to start.
Ordinary Men was one of my assigned books from a college Holocaust class. It was an elective class, but I kept the book. I didn't realize its significance in telling the story until well after college, but I recognized the book as important in telling the story, so I kept it. The Einsatzgrupen were awful people. It's amazing how brainwashing worked on such a large group of individuals, turning them into heartless killers.
Incredible. Hate to even give a thumbs up for such a thing, but the video is amazing. May this horrific vicissitude of human arrogance never be forgotten.
JD I have been reading the comments on this and other videos. Not only are you "edutaining" us, your bringing us together for a short time to enjoy great content and interact with one another in very positive, sometimes heartwarming ways. You doing great work
I visited this cemetery a few months ago. It does contain the most graves of the worst people in history. Those executed from Nuremberg were cremated and their ashes scattered on a river. This cemetery is unique in the world in terms of occupants. Like yourself, I research graves and cemeteries and often visit during my travels.
My father was in the 103rd inf div WWII. He was in Patton’s 3rd army, & was also an interpreter. He was in the Battle of the Bulge when he first arrived. One of his final missions was to liberate a concentration camp in Landsberg named Kaufering. It is all but gone now. My daughter visited it a couple of years ago. Not much is left. The people in the area have been trying to completely wipe out any remains of it. Did you happen to go there? The stories my father told us were unimaginable. My dad will always be my hero.
I took care of a Gentleman @ a care center , who served in this Battle of the Bulge ,I was so in awe and wrote the story of his experience he relayed to me down in my journal . These stories to me are priceless & so are the amazing souls who served . My respect and thanks for your father & his service .
Amazing, once again…..have traipsed all over wartime Europe…..Dachau, Berchtesgaden, Bastogne, Normandy….but your detail leaves me blown away at what we missed! Thank you! Andrew
I had never heard of this site and to even look at those unmarked graves was eerie. Thank you for sharing and I related to your emotions on how evil some people can be. So sad.
I was blessed during my career to be able to visit many of the places & locations throughout the world that you chronicle. I wish your content would have Been available to me then! We continue to witness ideologies that spawn evil & in some instances, will not be brought to justice without Devine intervention! I wish your channel would become course work for the youth of today & properly educate them to the reality of the world! Thank you && God Bless!!
I worked on a book for a Holocaust survivor. Her husband (a German Jew)was one of those bilingual soldiers who interrogated many of these war criminals who were executed. He found the kommandant who killed his parents. The kommandant was among those who was executed and the only execution the man attended.
It's so hard to imagine what would bring out this sort of evil in a person, but I guess that kind of person has existed throughout history. Thanks for another great video.
I had a colleague who'd become like one of those executed at Landsberg if the people behind his radical ideas (environmentalists in his case) ever got into power and he had the chance. He honest to god believed that all those who are not true believers in his radical green ideology should be killed as a start towards depopulating the planet with the end goal of having the population brought down to a few hundred thousand of those "worthy to be stewards of the environment". When Covid started and the death rates were very high initially he was ecstatic, proclaimed for all to hear that "here is Mother Nature saving the planet from mankind".
I remember someone told me once that they wished they would tear down every concentration camp or associated with Hitler. I told me that if they did that, we would forget. We would forget and then we would repeat history. Thank you for continuing to educate us, "lest we forget".
JD, I am sure there is a document or diagram somewhere that records who is buried in each grave. I can't imagine they stripped off all the grave markers before recording each plot. Maybe held in the prison's archives.
JD that was a powerful video. Thank You for sharing this with us. It reminds us that we must always be vigilant against those people who are doing evil.
I appreciate and respect what you do to inform/educate those of us who follow your channel. I'm sure that the time and energy you expend on these projects is tremendous. May God bless you abundantly for your efforts!!
Thanks. It does consume a lot of time and resources, but if it does some good in providing people with a tool to help educate others, then it's worth it.
Thank you JD very good video. My Dad, a Canadian, went into Bergen-Belsen in April 45 to help liberate it. Never got over what he saw there he said they could smell it for miles before they got there. They made the Germans go through the piles of bodies & some were still alive but they died a short time later. The towns folk denied knowing what was going on so they marched them over to witness the burial. He was in Germany when the war was over & said the German citizens treated them worse than the soldiers.
This is a dreadful yet fascinating series. Thank you for your in-depth research and also, for sharing your on-location videos. These are keepers. Thank you so much!
I love, love, love this channel. I have also been convalescing at home and find this information fascinating. Thank You so much from a fellow WW2 student. I have to say I envy you in creating an excellent and informative video series.
When society loses faith in liberal values and human rights it is a small step to take. The holocaust is unique in its scale and organisation but whenever a society starts believing there are enemies out to get them and somebody tells them it's okay to take "decisive steps" to counter the threat that's where you end up. Just look around.
I love history and I love this channel! I love how much knowledge you have, and the little tidbits that aren’t in the history books. Thank you so much for making these videos!
Very well done. You know the history, and you present these stories with an excellent intelligence and quality. You don't ramble, you give the facts, and you know what you're doing. I've subscribed!
Unfortunately, it seems there are forces at play that would prefer that we forget much of the government's and individual's atrocities. That's not a coincidence, imo. Read Orwell's 1984 for a lesson on how this works and what the result is.

As always, I learn new things every time I watch your videos. Many of the places you visit are places that I will never see for myself, but now I feel like I have been there. Great work again.
Hands down the most interesting channel I've found in years. Thanks for taking me to so many places I'll probably never see and learn about stories I wouldn't have known even if I went. Another wonderful video
I just came across your channel today. I am a WW2 history buff and really enjoyed this content. How in the World did people justify such crimes? I will never understand. I subscribed today.
The cross symbolises the sacrifice of Jesus for sins of mankind and to deliver us from darkness. In my humble opinion, these crosses should be replaced by just a pole
Great job as always JD. Your pronounciation of German names and places continues to improve vastly. Watching you travel around the state of Bavaria birngs back lots of good memoires from when we lived there ,for a couple of years, while my father worked a DoD contract. We lived close to Dachau. Back in those days, the camp was an abandoned, dark, forlorn and depressing place in the distance., and not the tourist attraction it is now.
Another compelling and educational video, JD. Any knowledge - or even speculation - regarding the choice of the "roofed crosses" in this cemetery ?? Let us never forget ! Thanks again for a great job.
they're pretty traditional in Bavaria and parts of Austria, often seen as little roadside shrines in places where people died in traffic accidents. I guess it's just a regional variation.
Not sure what the significance of this particular symbol is. One of the oldest uses of the cross symbol is the four spokes of the circular zodiac calendar which represent the two solstices and the two equinoxes that mark the changing of the seasons, and the circle represents the path of the sun, moon, and planets through the constellations. Even in Christian iconography you often see the crucifix depicted with a circle centered on the point where the vertical and horizontal lines intersect.
@@willdwyer6782 A good example of which is the "Celtic Cross". Which I believe is the conglomeration of Paganism and Christianity. Easier to convert pagans if you give them a little something to hang on to from the "old ways".
My guess is that the "roof" is mainly to protect the wooden cross from the weather. I noticed that all of the crosses were wooden, which will decay over time due to rain, frost etc; I suspect the "roof" is just there to preserve the cross for as long as possible.
Wow, what an incredible place to visit. It was not on my Bucket List. But thank you for going and sharing all the stories. My wife caught half of it and said - one day there will be a place like that for the evil people of our time. Just love your choice of music too.
Very well done video. The research you’ve completed to put this together is I’m sure extensive to say the least. I’ve learned a great deal of historical information watching this video and hearing you speak about it. Thank you so much. I appreciate all the work you put into your historical videos.
I find it ironic that the graves were unmarked due to modern day Nazis wanting to worship there, and that those who were murdered during the holocaust left no markers at all. Your videos are impactful, and thoughtful, thanks JD.
more likely they were removed because the German government for decades now has been trying to eradicate any and all references to the Nazi era, including history books, museum exhibits, and anything at all that reminds people of what was done by the German people during that period.
I'm surprised they were buried in a cemetery and not cremated and the ashes scattered as the top Nazis (Goering, Ribbentrop, Kaltenbrunner, et al) were. Especially in a cemetery in the shadow of a chapel, usually considered hallowed ground. I suppose the occupation authorities considered they'd "atoned"by virtue of the executions and gave them proper burials, but that's just a guess on my part. I'll tell you, there's so much evil buried in that cemetery I'm amazed the grass grows.
This has to be one the most compelling videos you have made, I love all your videos and truly appreciate the work you put into them, but I could have watched 2hrs of this content it was that engrossing. Thanks JD 👍
I learned something new today. I was under the impression that nazi war criminals were executed, then cremated, and ashes thrown into the water. Wow, thanks for the in-depth history lesson. 👍🏼
Thanks to the Traveler Episode 266, I could visit the St. Ulrich in Spotting Friedhof two weeks ago. It has been very impressive! Thank you very much indeed!
I find it ironic that horrific people who committed heinous crimes against others would have a Christian cross adorning their caskets, when they rejected Christ their entire lives.
Yes, these Nazi leaders actions were abominable and inhumane in every aspect but we do not really know if they "rejected Christ their entire lives." Let's hope that some of them came to place their trust in Christ before they were executed. The grace of Christ is beyond all human comprehension and available to all as bestowed on the thief at the cross.
They were Christians. Just like now you have Christians who are doctrinaire cross wearing, bible toting segregationist, racist purveyors of evil who attend church every Sunday morning. The thief on the cross was not a murderer let alone a mass murderer. I will bet all of the souls of these killers were greeted into hell by Satan himself.
@@willoutlaw4971 What you are saying is true, but Christ's forgiveness is available to all who ask for it. Sin is sin. Of course these evil Nazi leaders deserve the worst kind of punishment available but again scripture is very clear that anyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved. (John 3:16).
I am at home except for doctor’s visits and cannot read because of vision loss. Listening to videos keeps my brain from becoming oatmeal. You are doing great!
As a kid of a WW2 veteran I love it when people do things like this, I asked my dad things but rarely got answers but when he did I cried and sometimes threw up because to they were too much for me to take at the moment by he never lied or sugar coat or bragged about how many he killed, I know that it bothered him, as General Sherman was said and it's true War is hell , any way will do that's anyone will do.
I'm so glad I found this site. I have been going through a lot of bad things lately and you have been a great influence on easing my depression. I am 71 yrs. old but so much of history was before me. I couldn't wait to subscribe and I will surely keep up with your stories. Keep going with your stories.Thank you so much.
Really enjoy your content!! The way you relay the stories of history is entertaining, just finding your channel !! Great content , many not all but many of the newer Generation's don't know much of our History so this is such a wonderful channel with really good stories. Good job.

@@Gitarzan66 How very kind of you - thank you. I thought I had a book about Babi Yar from my late father’s library which contained a plethora of WWII books/reading material, but cannot locate it in my personal library. Heading over to the link you provided with much gratitude.
@@31Alden No problem, you're very welcome and stuff. Mark Felton is awesome. As an ageing metal head with bad eyes it's easier for me to listen to books than to read them. There are quite a few posted on Y.T. Dr. Felton specializes in 'The Deep Cuts' of history.
When you think of war criminals the big names come to mind, these people are not widely known and probably had more “hands on” with the war crimes than the names we know so well. I guess because it’s in a church yard all the markings are crosses. It’s scary how gullible people were and are. Thank you for your work.
This is the first cemetery that is truly eerie to me. I'm compelled to wonder about the significance, if any, in the design of the crosses - which I've never seen before. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Anyway, thanks very much J.D. for all your hard work.
Just stumbled across your channel, what a great video. Hope no offence is taken, but its quite rare for Americans to have the same level of understanding on WW2 as us Europeans. You, sir, are an exception
BRAVO ! Excellent investigative and enlightening report. It is said by anthropologists that this capacity for atrocity exists in us all. This sheds light on the shadow side.
I think there will never be a dull moment with the memory, or legacy, involving the Nazi's. Even their graves are significant. I mean, it's their legacy that makes it very difficult to say anything good about them.
Why were the crosses made with a top? When you were in the grave yard did you feel any negative energy? I just cannot see any of them going anywhere but hell. What is even worse is someone honoring their deeds. What have we become.😔
I'm not sure on the cross covers. I saw those in Poland as well. I'm not the type of person that really "feels" energy, but there are certainly a lot of evil men beneath your feet when you're walking there and you're certainly aware of it.
The young folks to today, NEED to see this. I was thinking when August Igruber said his last words, and you talked about the hanging had gone awry, it looks he ended on the Reich side of hell.
Thank you for shining a spotlight on these unspeakable atrocities . We need to not forget that the Holocaust began with book burnings. What is the purpose of the roofing over the crosses?
