ABOUT TIK 📝
History isn’t as boring as some people think, and my goal is to get people talking about it. I also want to dispel the myths and distortions that ruin our perception of the past by asking a simple question - “But is this really the case?”. I have a 2:1 Degree in History and a passion for early 20th Century conflicts (mainly WW2). I’m therefore approaching this like I would an academic essay. Lots of sources, quotes, references and so on. Only the truth will do.

I'm in Canada, the similarities to our euthanasia laws are pretty frightening. From the three doctors that are supposed to evaluate the situation (there was a report a few months ago where it was reported that often the dr. signed after the fact), to the whole angle of "mercy killing". Now, I used to be ok with the original stated goal of the program, people who are in a terminal state and suffer needlessly... but this is being expanded to those with mental illnesses in the vein of depression, and even worse to minors (no need for parental consent!). All in the name of, well I'm not so sure.

That is absolutely horrific. When i first heard of the Canadian assisted suicicde I my first impressions were not negative. Why would anyone be against the voluntary termination of self for someone with a terminal condition I thought. But then one hears stories of how it is reccomended to combat veterans. The fact that it can even be reccomended sent out alarm bells for me. It is not a doctors place... It is absolutely terrifying.

My dad was a surgeon in an American Army evacuation hospital in the war. They moved into a Dutch hospital in 1944. At that location there was a building about six stories high with windows overlooking the main square. When the Americans arrived there were two or three microcephalics in each window, each one smiling and waving. "They probably had no idea there was a war on," said my dad. He thought the Germans had brought them all there to do some sort of study on them.

12 minutes 5 seconds onwards. I was literally just thinking the NHS does that with Modazilam to old people. The NHS reduces the food and water intake of old people, then tell the family that the old person has stopped eating, then to stop the old person complaining to family at visit times, they're dosed up with Morphine "for the pain" , then they're killed off at the end with Modazilam. The NHS is a killing machine. Before that bit of the video, TK said poor families had to give up their kids to the state or loose their benefits. That's happening right here in Britain right now. Councils and social workers and the DWP collude against vulnerable families, then put the kids into "homes" where they're pimped out every weekend. Threatening families with losing benefits is one of the ways Councils, Police and Social Workers shut families complaining and making a fuss when their kids are being raped by Islamic gangs. The state is the state, times may change but fekin bureaucrats don't

Correct. I’ve heard people advocate for not caring about severely disabled people because “they don’t give back to society.” We ought not to base someone’s value on how they work or how much they arbitrarily contribute to society. They gain value on the merit of simply being human. This value is in every human because they are created in the likeness and image of God. If we deny God and his influence in this matter, there is no criticism that can be given to Nazis actions. Without inherent human dignity coming into play, you can give any reason you want. I personally think it’s important to ground our reasoning in natural human dignity.

Socialized medicine is about control and taking away the individuals ability to make their own health decisions. Reducing costs through euthanasia is the natural course of government controlled Healthcare. The private sector has insurance as a means of keeping you alive and providing a service because you pay for it and dead customers don't pay. Healthcare for the state is an expense but for private insurance and private hospitals it is a profit.

Great video on a very important topic. It’s a topic that for me carries a lot of weight because I was born with disabilities and developed more throughout my childhood. Despite this I’ve worked through them and I now earn more than the average person. With money being the measure of value it means that I actually add a lot of value to my area. The people who perpetrated the T4 program wouldn’t have believed this is possible. I also often think about the movie Verkannte Menschen or Misjudged People which was a movie created by deaf people (I’m deaf). They created this movie to show that despite their troubles in communication they could still be productive members of society. The movie was banned within 2 years.
@TheImperatorKnight
@TheImperatorKnight 11 месяцев назад
The bias certainly remains against those with disabilities. I think there's an element of awkwardness that people have when in the presence of those with disabilities. They want to be "good" people, but at the same time don't know how to act with them, and this produces a feeling of guilt and shame. This manifests in some as a feeling that they should get away from the disabled, which in extreme cases turns into disgust... and then, of course, eugenics. What the solution is, I'm not sure. Perhaps you have some insight? But I think it could help if people knew to treat disabled people just like you would treat anyone else. In other words, they don't need special treatment from the guy in the street. (They need help from doctors and carers, but not somebody they've just met.) By not feeling like they need to be "good" and give them special treatment, then the feeling of guilt and shame probably wouldn't manifest.
@J1mston
@J1mston 11 месяцев назад
@@TheImperatorKnight I like your analysis in the first paragraph. One thing about us disabled people is our struggle (heh) is a lot more visible and people naturally want to help. I know from my own experiences and from that of others that we don't actually want help, just the ability to do it ourselves. A lot of disabled people actually get very defensive over their aides and will become very hostile over people touching and offering help with things that they want to be able to do independently. I know it occupies my mind and I'm sure it does occupy other's minds as well, the thoughts of where we belong on a societal level. It's a thing for the future for me because I'm currently productive but I'm sure that many people feel like they are a net drain on society, I have been there. The shame is that many have been sold a false narrative that they feel this way because of capitalism when a lot of time they live completely outside of capitalist society. They can only live outside of capitalism because of the over abundance that capitalism creates. Once you transition to a more centralised system then quickly we see that the net drains become a liability. Too much liability and the system fails so the fat needs to be trimmed. Many people are chickens voting for KFC on this because they've been mis-sold a fantasy that's been labelled up as socialism. With your second paragraph, I think the solution is as you mentioned, the general public should leave disabled people to it unless they look particularly distressed. That look of distress however, it's universal so it would be like helping a lost tourist or something. I do have concerns about the long term however and with how society will interact with disabled people rather than just individuals. Canada is showing us that there's a lot to be concerned about in that regard.

Disturbingly, while the ideology of eradicating the disabled is not widely held today, the sad truth is that it is happening in some ways due to abortion. While most pro-choice people today base their beliefs in women's rights, the fact that many of the movement's pioneers were eugenicists must be pointed out in this context. The most stark example would be Downs Syndrome. In some northern European countries with few abortion restrictions, 95%+ of babies with Downs are aborted. This is during a time in which medical advancements have enabled profound improvements to both the life expectancy and quality of life for people with Downs. I can see how some people may view the rights of unborn babies as an abstract idea since we never get to meet them, but it becomes much less abstract when an entire group is all but missing from society.

I know this isn't on topic for this video, but I've been watching and enjoying your backlog, and thought I'd offer some constructive criticism on some ideas in your older videos on the topic of the public vs. private distinction. First, in several videos you say that black markets are free markets. Given your thought process it's understandable why you'd think this, especially if you look at case studies of black markets in Mao's China or the Soviet Union. But if you look at other black markets, as Thomas Sowell did (though I can't remember in which book at the moment), he observed that criminal organizations behave exactly as monopolies do. The mafia made money off illegal taverns and brothels, and were territorial, creating regional monopolies. They also used "anti-competitive practices" to make examples out of petty criminals in their area; they regulated crime to reduce police attention to the regions where their illegal activities operated. The criminal organization in effect becomes the state within that black market, its own state within a state, even controlling many of the legal businesses in the area from behind the scenes. And most black markets are creations of the government (just to sidestep the natural law debate over things like kill-for-hire markets). The government creates a black market by statute and in a sense gives that market to the criminal class. A Damoclean sword of government intervention to seize you, your property, and your business for your crimes, influences how and by what means you do business as an actor in a black market. This is no different in effect from government imposed regulations controlling the conduct of business. Governments are often themselves involved in the black market, either in the open by giving themselves a monopoly which is a black market to everyone else -- the way the provincial governments of Canada have a legal monopoly on the sale of alcohol (the only exception being the province of Alberta which chooses not to but has the authority if it wishes), or behind the scenes where politicians are bribed and shelter the criminal enterprises giving them kickbacks. Second, one aspect of the public vs. private distinction which I don't recall you addressing in the videos I've watched is the typical history of corporate entities that would be taught in something like a law school. This isn't per se in contradiction with you, but explains why people disagreed with you about corporations being public entities. The story goes that we started with private individuals doing private business, but as their businesses grew in size we eventually created the idea of a sole proprietorship. This created a legal distinction between the private individual, and the private business owner, a distinction creating a liability barrier between the individual and the business. If your business harmed someone, and they wanted compensation, they would get compensation from the business and not from the individual, and likewise if the individual harmed someone, they would get compensation from the individual and not from the business. Legally this comes with requirements to keep separate books and not violate the barrier between what belongs to the individual and what belongs to the business (e.g. you pay yourself a salary and don't use business accounts for personal expenses). The story continues that we then came up with partnerships. Partnerships are similar to sole proprietorships but with more than one proprietor. The management of ownership shares create some extra legal requirements, but joining with partners allows the business to operate more efficiently at scale, or at least allows the business to have access to the expertise of both partners. Law partnerships are the ideal example because having more partners not only means you can handle a larger caseload, but each partner could have their own legal specialization. However an undesirable aspect of partnerships was the sharing of liabilities, if a partner did something stupid it could possibly make the other partners liable too. Thus the story goes that we invented the idea of a corporation, where the business is recognized as its own, separate, legal person. The partners with ownership shares make those shares publicly available to finalize this severing of their individual personhood from the business entity, which is now its own legal person. This legal person, the corporation, is a creature of the government, creature in the sense of a created thing; but it is a separate legal person just as you or I are legal persons and therefore a "private" actor. The former partners, now public shareholders, gained additional protections from liability as a result.
