I was 20 in 1985, and it became one of the best years of my life. I think I came across someone who really love me, but I let her pass by. Lots of heartful memories. Besides the great music there was, we all really felt FREE in those years, I mean FREEDOM that comes from within. Now is 2023 and still chillin' with the best of the 80s. Best wishes from Perú.
Good luck, Cesar. You've lost your true love, as most of us , but you don't have to feel alone, cause all we lived that '80 are lucky to feel the same emotion in the same time, when listen "our music" See you in next post of' 80 video
I was a Senior in high school and graduated in May of 1985. 40 year reunion is coming up next year. WOW, has the time flown by. I'm 57, a Mom of 4 with my youngest being a Senior when school resumes in August. My son is 37, my oldest daughter is 33 and my middle daughter is going on 32. I also have 10 grandchildren. The oldest is 15 and the youngest is 3. Love 80's music. A few of these songs I have on 45's! 😊
Great mix! I miss the 80s on a regular basis. I remember being a kid in the 80s, and it just felt... safe. Like things were good, and only going to keep getting better. Anyone who grew up in the 80s was part of the last generations of humans who grew up offline. No cell phones, no devices, no surveillance cameras everywhere. We were happier and healthier for it. I always wanted to get to 2000 and beyond and leave "the olden days" behind. Now, I'd love a chance to go back and experience the 80s again, even for just an hour.
I was 15 back in 85 and those where the best times of all! Fashion, music, society, culture, everything! My mom used to say that old times were the best and now I understand what she meant. Proud to be part of the 80's generation!!
@@zacharybenner8369 If you'd like to hear an analysis of a great song from 1984, what I consider Australia's greatest rock ballad, why not check out my video or podcast on 'De-mystifying the song Flame Trees' by Cold Chisel. Look up 'Flame Trees' official video first, then look up my explanation of it and how the music is created (please don't mind my singing and piano playing). Just search for: "Australia's Greatest Rock Ballad - Flame Trees" I hope you enjoy it. Cheers.
I was lucky enough to be living in Oxford England for the most part of the 80s decade. Those were the golden years of my life experiencing the birth of music that will never ever die. Simple but so meaningful.
My grandma who im very close to was 25 in 85, she says how the disco floor would pump with this great 80s music and the music would blast from radio stations . It was a great heady feeling. She said it was the happiest time of her life.
@@mustbetrue1602disco was totally gone in 85 - it was all about the second British invasion: the Police , Ah Ha, Wham UK (George Michael ), the Thompson Twins etc. I was ❤19 in 85 and a new mom and wife but baby Maggie and I rocked out to pat benatar... My second baby born in 88 loved George Michael...
@@XannyMiller627 Likewise. I was 19 in '85 in Australia... so we got Aussie music, British music, American music, NZ music... even some Canadian music. Different styles, but all terrific!
I was fifteen. Man what a blast. It was great. Even unto this day pop in the 80s music and escape to a better time. Glad I can share it with my kids. Stay 80s my friend
I hope everyone reading this comment is doing well during these strange times. I wish you all the best, good luck and stay healthy! ps. I love that kind of sound. It's been helping me fall asleep for years and helps to relieve stress. Thank you very much!
The 70's and 80's were the BEST DECADES for music! The music is still played on the radio, used as movie sound tracks, and in TV commercials today.....And I can still sing along word for word to almost every one of them!
I feel you, bro I'm glad for the struggle it ,built me the good times, the births the deaths in my family amongst my friends. It's great to be here. Rock on yall
Мне , нескромно 67лет, нашли тусовку в Тель Авиве музыка 80 годов. Мне кажется, что так мы не отрывались в молодости. Невероятное ощущение свободы, музыка потряс
Same here. My 23 yr old son pretty much only listens to 80s and before. I don't think he could really name a current top ten hit, that's how far removed he is. 😆
Proud to be from this wonderful time..Only those who lived through the 80s and 90s will spend the time tunnel in their minds listening to these classics👏👏👏
I turned 21 in the summer of 85 the best music the best styles and people had class and manners it was a beautiful safe world back then, forever grateful to have the blessing of experiencing this decade 🙏 ❤
@@and__lam1152 Two problems with that- Its a far safer world today than it was in 1985, at least for those who live in the united states. There's over 1/3 less violent crime today than there was in 85 and property crime is less than half what it was in 85. As far as immigrants go they are far less likely than native born citizens to commit crimes and end up incarcerated. There is ample data on the subject leading back to the late 1800s and the results are very clear.
As a person who was the EXACT same age as the OP - I agree with you. Burt damn we were young and had so much fun. and we had NO idea how much Reagan was destroying things like pensions. Our bad. And as to fashions... well... I'd have to vote 1950s for class!@@Soknik01
I saw a meme and a T-shirt with a picture of a cassette tape with some of the tape loose, and a pencil, and the words: "Only 80s kids will understand."
my best friend and i loved everybody want to rule the world by tears for fears. we were 13 years old and not a care in the world. great social life, great music, parties, dancing-- excited about entering our freshman year in high school. the next couple of years were even better. the 80s were a magical time!
I was 5 in 1985, I remember it well I miss those years so much. I remembered the bud driving me home from kindergarten hearing Aha Take on Me, every time I hear the song I’m that kid in the school bus. We were lucky kids, teens , young adults to live through an incredibly magical era
I was 9 years old and me and my bestie would share the headphones to jam out. Music was life. My first movie in the theatres with my friends was Back to the Future. We used to have dance contests to everything the radio. I'll never forget the good times of my youth and the eighties never went out of style.
I wanted to grow up so fast and at that time hated this music but now I love it! I did not enjoy my childhood for many reasons but the music sounds so fresh and new like it's the first time I'm hearing it, now I am glad that I come from that generation. 1973-2023.
la esperanza debe permanecer en nosotros en todo tiempo al igual que la juventud, lo unico que envejece es nuestro cuerpo, sin embargo nuestro espiritu es el mismo.
True fact even if I was born born in 85. That's lots of reasons for that. But we're still here, survived till today. This is a victory by itself. Think about it.
It literally does get better. In 85 there was the rediculous 'satanic panic', high racism, numerous homophobic attacks and being homophobic was considered how you should be, sexism was very high, any LGBTQIA ppl had to stay in the closet, AIDS was ridiculously called the "gay cancer" even tho more straight ppl got it and everyone doed from it then and now nearly everyone can live normal lives with it without passing it on and many have even been "cured" or put in remission due to medical advancements, bullying was considered a "rite of passage" and parents nor schools ever really did anything to curb it, medical, scientific, technological and aerospace advancements since then have been phenomenal, pollution was a huge issue then compared to now, far less ppl die in crashes and it was fairly common then, much more toxic chemicals were used in crops, crash dieting and starvation diets were encouraged, numerous cases of skin cancer happened due to the tanning that was considered "fashionable" and tanning beds became a popular thing then, majority of people died from cancer then, LE corruption in places were off the charts then compared to now even tho it definitely still happens, crack was literally planted into inner city and urban areas mostly populated by POC and it became a literal epidemic, child abuse was routinely overlooked and beating kids with whatever you could get your hands on was considered normal, rape victims had a harder time then compared to now even tho it certainly isn't good yet, worldwide information is at the world's fingertips now even tho too many use it to troll or spread lies, "trickle down economics" were implemented in the 80s by boomers and that was a MASSIVE disaster, credit scoring was implemented in the 80s by boomers, boomers implemented deregulating the minimum wage so it no longer had to keep up with inflation so people are paid WAY less than they were yet still b*tch about the younger ppl "not doing what they did", and boomers implemented the regulations that allowed corporations to no longer pay taxes in the 80s which then caused an ongoing and worsening economic crisis with literal billions of dollars per year no longer going coming in as taxes leading to families now needing a 2 income household and even then most cannot afford to buy homes or move out of their parents homes. What went down after the 80s is strictly on the shoulders of the boomers that enacted all of those ridiculous and harmful policies. The only people claiming everything was better in the past are the ones who f*cked everything up for those coming in the future or of a particular demographic that didn't deal with sexism, racism or homophobia.
After all the great music of the 70s, I didn't have much appreciation for the music of the 80s, but now, looking back, these were all real gems! Thanks for compiling this!
That year I was able to enter the university to study Human Medicine. Today I'm a Doctor and while I listen this music, brings back memories of youth, friendship, disco, lovers, freedom, dreams. Excellent music!!!! 🧠❤️🙂🍷
I was 7 and 8 in 1985. Wow...what a great year for music. The 80s started off rather slow, but then MJ and MTV really rocketed pop music into the music space age and what a decade it was thereafter.
Born in 83.. My mom was a teen. Its odd being in my 40s and my mom in her 50s. I geuss that alone sums up my trauma in a nutshell. Music is my religon - from a proud T.O.P.Y. kid Much ❤ to you all
This is a great collection of music tracks from 1985! I love the mix of artists and genres. It's a great reminder of how diverse and talented the music scene was back then.
Yes, the competition was REAL. Now it's all just Taylor Swift and everyone else it just trynna measure up. Glad we had more music choices and genres that were all popular back then.
The greatest decade, the 1980s, take me back in time, i was a teen, mom and dad were alive, life was simple, just the right amount of tech without overwhelming ones life, and great music❤
I was 23 years in 1985 and It was the best year ever! Started studies, had a job in a disco, heard all new music, all these songs on the list. Absolutely Fabulous indeed ❤❤❤
In 1985, I was 29, and my wife was 23. This music is like liquid gold! The 80s, what amazing music! My beautiful and gorgeous wife, coming up on 40 years, she is timeless and never seems to age. We go out cruising most weekends in one of our exotic machines, while listening to so many of these songs. So, we met and married in 84. This journey we have been on has exceeded our wildest dreams! To not only have achieved the America Dream, but the best part is our 7 adult children in our first 11 years, 85 to 96, and now 5 grandchildren who are priceless. What a life we have been blessed with. As crazy as the world may be, it is not part of ours! It's amazing how the time has passed so fast! We still though have so much more to look forward too! Living our blessed life now!!!
We built this city! always remembered this track on our primary school aerobics class while the instructor was in leg warmers and sweat bands. Great to be a 80's child forever!
Sounds like a very special time to be part of. I'm 40 now, so I was born in '82, but I remember, I'd say 90s onwards better, than the 80s. But I sometimes wish I could find a portal in my house that leads back to 1980, or even the mid 70s and I'd probably live there. Though I'd probably run a cable through the portal, so that I can still connect to the 2023 internet. I like the internet and I like using it, but I also feel that the human race weren't really ready for it, or at the very least, we've lost too much important stuff in the trade of gaining the internet. I'd live in the 70s or 80s and I'd be wealthy and I'd listen to music on my HiFi and I'd go out to clubs and just hang out in those days. Life has just lost all its magic now. It's not really the kids of today's fault. The millennialls and the generation z brats... Because the boomers made such a piss-poor job of raising them. But being 30 in the mid-80s sounds like an amazing time to live.
I was 17 in 1985. Joined military right after high school. 80's was a whirlwind of wonder. 80's into early 1990's were the best years of music! So glad to have grown up with Kate Bush, New Order, Tori Amos, OMD, Pet Shop Boys, Peter Gabriel to name just a few of the best!!!
I graduated in 85 , 19 that fall. Wow, what a time to be alive. Lots of great tunes and the love shared. The cloths and hair was a real trip. Americans found freedom with-in our selfs at a young age and just let it roll out. What a time, what a real good time. This was the result of hope from a bad economy and the fear of war. We all said Fu@$ it. We are gonna live life.
I was 12. I heard"Take On Me"on the radio and it hit me! I rushed to contact the radio station. I will never forget that passion. Thanks for the memories.
I probably heard every one of these songs on the radio moving to Florida back in 1985. I was only 8, but this music brings back such a feeling of nostalgia.
I was 9 in 1985 . I was one of the lucky ones, who had with my younger brother and sister amazing parents , and a care less childhood lived in a quite neighborhood, and played till the streets lights went on on street, and in the back gardens with the neighborhood kids with sometime this good music as background music. Sights, my god how i miss being a kid in the eighties.
I was 15 years old and in Year 10 in high school in 1985. I was living some of the best times of my life. I went to my first ever concert and saw Spandau Ballet and a few months later they were playing at the Live Aid concert. I miss the 80's so much. Wonderful memories growing up with family and friends. I wish I could go back and do it all again but sadly those days will never return.
I was born in the 2010s and absolutely love everything about the 80s and i know almost all of these songs and alot more [thank you mom] i just love listening to these songs and its fun to see everybody who were actually alive in the 80s commenting about the things they listened to and did in the 80s ❤ that generation was probably the best and i wish i could have experienced it 😢
Well shared. I lived those decades. Joining the Army at 18 in 82.Anyone remember Billy Jean, Sexual Healing, or Gloria!, oh goodness, it goes on and on and on. I lived it all through this music!! Just keep your ears out for all the sampling you hear nowadays from these so-called "original" artists. lol A laugh. (although some of it does sound ok. But only because they sample the 80s or 90s).
Diana-I was 30 as well and just had a baby girl stuck in the house as much as I enjoyed taking care of her-I felt I was missing out on so much-but then I realized that I had dreamed of having a little girl since I was a little girl-then I played my music and appreciated the time -now I listen to this music and feel alive again and go to concerts and dance with my daughter who is going to be 40 soon! How awesome is that?!!
You're lying if you say this music doesn't still make you move. Still great. Makes me borderline emotional. Those were the days. The 80s (and 90s even) were just awesome.
I was 8 years old when this classic came out and I can’t help feeling nostalgia for that whole decade. Every time I hear this song i can’t help thinking of my dearest folks gone to eternity. As I have my own meaning to the lyrics that I cherish fondly.
I love this song. My mother introduced me to amazing music as a child. We would crank it up and do housework together. The music keeps these beautiful memories intact.
I was 17 when I saw the breakfast club just as it was released this was about March 1985. In June I turned 18 and had just graduated high school , some of my classmates I still see often some I haven’t seen since graduation but would love to see and some I may never see again, some have passed on , but this music is the story and timeline of my life, never will there be another decade like it , the summer of 1985 was like the time of my life , the world was ours ! The world today is a sad place. When i leave this planet, and pass over to the other side , i hope the eighties will be waiting for me , along with all those beautiful souls who left us too soon . FREEZE FRAME TIME MACHINE TAKE BE BACK !
I graduated in 1985 when I was 18. I have the best memories from being a teenager, then starting college in the 80’s. The music was amazing and makes me feel great whenever I listen to it now.
First memories of really feeling music was exactly the year 1985 for me. What a time to be alive! Can you feel the mood of optimsn in the music. Miss it!
