Mahendra Kapoor (9th January, 1934 -- 27th September, 2008, Mumbai, India) was an Indian and a legendary playback singer.
In a career spanning of five decades, his repertoire extended to 25000 songs in various regional languages, including popular songs such as 'Chalo ek baar phir se Ajnabi ban jayen hum dono' Gumrah, 'Neele gagan ke taale' Hamraaz. His name however became most closely associated with patriotic songs including 'Mere Desh Ki Dharti', in Manoj Kumar's film Upkaar. In 1972, he was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India.

Mahendra kapoor sir .... what a great honey dipped bass sweet voice....a legendary singer. music transcends all boundaries... whether it be of time,region, religion or language .You are a perfect example of this. i first heard your voice during the Mahabharat serial times.Despite being a keralite it just attracted me so much. Ever since i have heard a lot of your songs. Rafi,Kishore Kumar, Mannadey, Mahendra Kapoor,Yesudas,Jayachandran .... all singers with great bass voice & great talent.They all happend more or less simultaneously to mesmerise crores & crores in India as a matter of preplanned destiny by GOD. That time period will never ever come again, but their songs will live for ever..

How could these 9.2K people dislike these amazing, legendary and soulful songs? I am so shocked. Are these people that stupid and illiterate when it comes to music and vocals? As a challenge, anyone with any emotion and patriotism cannot listen to Bharate ka Rehnewala Hoom or Neele Gagan Ke Tale and not be moved with joy and pride. These 9.2K people are simply without any emotions and completely deaf. Mehendar ji had one of the best playback vocals.

Best songs of mahinder Kapoor. What a quality of his voice. I love his voice. Great singer of past even today. No one can match him. The new generation should inhanc their capability of songs by comparing these singers like Raffi Sahib.... Mukesh mahinder Kapoor latta mangeshtar.... Tallat mahmood.... Hemant Kumar.... Saleem raza.... Mehndi Hassan.... Ahmed rushdi.... Masood Rana zubeda khanam and many others whome I could not remember or recall.
