I love how silent and depressing Mr. Clanky's is. Like all the kids are thinking "Oh no. Now this means all of us are gonna get replaced by robots. We'll never have any fun."

I’ve always liked Sidney and Ashley Webber’s themes. It’s kinda odd that Ashley’s theme is in the key of C major unlike Sidney’s that is in the key of G major.
great vid, also the message at the end was pretty touching.. these games go so far back with so many incredible memories. thanks for making this one, for sure i did not draft, let alone hit a HR with half these kids so it was fun to see
I feel bad that I couldnt get natural homeruns with all of them, I tried nearly 150 times with the players I failed with. Possible but very slim, like you could go clearly hundreds of times without even coming close.
@@DynoMikeGamingI've hit one with every player but her without the power-up. She'll hit one with the screaming line drive also. Gretchen was also difficult to get a legitimate homer with, but you can actually go down the line.
@@DynoMikeGaming I find it weird that Vicki's batting is literally her only bad stat in like, literally all sports. According to my calculations (I sound like Dmitri), Vicki is actually the 2nd best BYS player overall. (Behind Pablo, obviously.)
Unpopular opinion: Pete Wheeler is the best backyard kid in all sports. Baseball: He has insane power, can field better then Pablo, can run like the wind, and can pitch. Football: Give him the ball and no one is getting him. Soccer: Read above and he is insane at goaltending. Hockey: Read above above and replace ball with puck. Basketball:he can run jump catch shoot what more could you want?
Challenging but not impossible - there were only 3 kids that gave me zero hope of hitting one entirely where I had to use extra help - Jorge, Gretchen, Vicki. I tried over 100 times with each and most hits barely left the infield. Once you get the rhythm of Dante's hit down, he's actually a mid tier player with his sick speed.
@@DynoMikeGaming Ok, but I've tried them in both practice and an actual game and most of the low batting rates in this game even power has a small glitch of being struck out, grounder, or line drive then a Homer Run. 1/20. I had lucky streak with Kenny. I often choose Dante Robinson mainly his music, running, and funny animations. I only wish that your could have changed the way a player stands to give a better chance of hitting the ball.
@@the1magageneral323 oh for sure my friend but for 1997 this was god dang incredible!!! You are right! As you can see from my video almost every player is useable. Some of the most underrated players imo: - The Webber sisters: can hit way better than their stat and can run. - Dante, like I said - rythym & he becomes super useable - Tony Delvecchio: running is like 2.5, best 2 ball stat runner and a bomb hitter My top 9 though are always: - Pablo, Pete, Kiesha, Achmed, Dimitri, Annie, Jocinda, Stephanie and Maria Luna
@@the1magageneral323 i love a running well hitting lineup and pete wheeler lowkey is a perfect pitcher bc even if he loses some stamina he still runs extremely well
@@DynoMikeGaming I played this game enough times as a kid. Still wish that they kept them going. 2003 was the last great one. Aside for Jocinda Smith, most of the girl players in baseball verries on what you want from them.
9:13 That's suprising, I've seen natural home runs with Jorge in the 1997 version before(top 10 worst players by Longtail HQ, for example). You might've just gotten unlucky, it's definitely possible to get a homer with him. Here's another video of a 'natural' home run with him: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dgmZqaqfex4.html
Interesting: they're labeled as such for a reason though. If I tried 100-150 times and couldn't get a single one with the "X" lock on in easy mode - its clear as day to me that they're just a terrible kid. I'm sure in 1,000 tries you could get a homerun with every kid, but I put a lot of effort in to my attempts without knowing for certain and at some point it was time to move on. It took me maybe 15 tries to hit a homer with Dante, who has the same batting level and a super awkward hitting animation.
@@DynoMikeGaming I guess that's true, you've got to eventually move on. From what I know, it's probably RNG on if it'll be a home run or not. So, although the odds would be really low, you could've just gotten terrible luck with Jorge. Something I have wondered is if it is actually possible to get a homer with Vicki and Gretchen. I wonder if there's a small bit of a field where they have just barely enough power to get a ball over that precise part of the fence.
@@DynoMikeGaming Out of curiosity, who do you think is the worst player overall? I've only played the game boy advance version, in my experiences Keisha has the worsr for me. Was a pretty bad fielder and not good at batting. Although, I played the game boy advance version so the stats could be different on different versions.
@@thecrk9201 without a doubt for me in 97 its gretchen hasselhoff, who i randomly got drafted to my youtube series team. She's pretty terrible at almost everything.
Wow, memories. I think I remember my team set. Pablo, Kenny, Stephanie, Angela (maybe), Ashley, Sidney, Achmed, Vicki (maybe), and Amir. I remember vividly having Pablo first to bat, Kenny was my starting pitcher, and Achmed and Amir were near the end but not next to each other in the batting order, but Amir was my last batter.
I wonder who composed these themes of each character. This game was special and brings back memories when I played it in the early-2000's on the family's desktop Compaq.
I hit a homerun with Vicki once ever. I don't remember if I used a power-up or not (I most likely did tbh) because it happened a very long time ago, but it was shocking nonetheless when the ball flew over the fence. My dream team will always be Pablo, Kiesha, Ashley, Sidney, Stephanie, Kenny, Angela, Pete, and Mikey.
I’m impressed that you left the yard with Maria Luna, Luanne Lui, and Reese Worthington without a power up. And in BB ‘97 nevertheless, which to me was harder than BBs ‘01 and ‘03 that I grew up on.
I'm brand new to the game pretty much, got 2 natural homers with Jorge in my league. He's hitting for a crazy average too, the Power swing tends to drop the ball right in between the infielders and outfielders. Hitting about .450 for me. Plus his arm is solid, thrown out several base stealers as my Catcher
9:12 it’s possible to get a Homer with Jorge Garcia without any powerups. it has to be a specific throw, a slow ball to the left/open stance, or a right/closed stance.
One time I was playing backyard baseball it was bases loaded 2 outs and Jorge Garcia was up to bat no boosts or anything just power and he slammed it out of the field for a grand slam. Never underestimate his power
I did the Batting Practice mode to get a better feel for some of the players. It's tough because the actually lengths of the swing animations vary for the kids, so some have to swing earlier than others
My Team consisted of Pablo, Achmed, Amir, Maria, Pete, Keisha, Kenny, Ernie, and Gretchen and Kenny had a .576 batting average while Maria somehow had a .723 batting average
Hey bigstar, I actually preferred no pros as you'd get a ton of very interesting backyard kids to not only be forced to play with but play against. Sure, the best versions of these games are arguably the 2001/2003/2004ish versions but the originals really focused on what you could accomplish using only the kids.
@@DynoMikeGaming hm, well I started with the pros. They were so much better than the kids that I never used any of the kids except Achmed Kahn and Pablo.
