Great video!!! The only thing I would have added is mention of having an A-B-C fire extinguisher handy. Still, overall fantastic advice. 😊

The recovery segment brings to mind this saying: Good judgment comes from experience. And experience? Well, that comes from bad judgment.

I have used that phrase many, many times :)

Very good information and presentation. Even long time wheelers need refreshing/reminding of basic things.

A lot of useful information, thanks for sharing. What length kinetic rope do you recommend?

Usually a 30’, but the thickness needs to be considered carefully. If you watch our recent video from EJS I discuss this with Yankum Ropes

How many traction boards, at a minimum, do you need? Two tires in mud or snow, may mean using two boards at once, meaning that two may not be enough.

Generally we carry 2 unless we have our trailer and then we carry 4. That’s always been enough.

Ok, so did you ever have any of these situations, and if so, what did you do? 1. You are pulling a stuck vehicle out (someone you don't know) and something on the stuck vehicle breaks as result, or, the person with the stuck vehicle claims that something broke. 2. Someone is pulling your stuck vehicle out and something breaks on the vehicle pulling you out, or, the person pulling you out claims something broke?

Fortunately, I have not had either situation come up. One thing that I often do if I am helping just a random person, if have them connect the recovery gear to their vehicle. I will make sure it is done correctly, but by having them connect the gear, I am hopefully helping to prevent any blaming if something goes wrong. Many states also have a good samaritan law that would protect you when helping someone.

Great question and it is something that should concern everyone… but it hasn’t happened to us and I think the risk is pretty low…. I’ve done many recoveries and even assisted with a few rollover recoveries. Always wheel with friends/witnesses and film for your own protection.

Thanks! Very helpful. So true about the Mopar lift, from the warranty to driving on cinder blocks. Unfortunately dont have enough faith in local dealerships to honor warranty and even w/ lift figure they will make excuses. Rest of video definitely helped my awareness for some things I need to add to my rig.

Excellent video. I was going offroad for years before I learned about airing down my tires (back in those paper map days). I thought "what in the world took you so long to do this!" Like a 12v frig, it was a game changer.
