And this video is mainly for players who are experiencing pain or discomfort with a standard knob. Will dealt with blood blisters on the palm of his bottom hand for the majority of his career (he has since started hanging a pinky off the knob to avoid it), and JT recently broke his hamate bone from the large knob on the Rawlings 5150 - so while a bat like this may not be useful or helpful for a lot of you, it definitely could have helped us if we knew about it earlier on.
@2:44. Best sound in baseball, period. Felt it deep in my bones. I haven't swung a bat in 10 years.... I'm grabbing my old maple and going to the batting cages right now...
Agreed. Nothing beats the sound of a baseball squared up on a wood bat. My son is in a wood bat hitting league over the winter and you can just tell right off the bat if someone smokes one. Then the girls come in and start hitting softballs. So jarring. I always think they are breaking bats constantly.
Can’t wait to see the Axe vs ProXR video. I’m kinda biased though. Axe is all my son and I swing. He had the metal Origin for Little League and now swings the Avenge BBCOR for school. Probably going to get the wood 271 profile for him soon.
It’s to protect the bone buuuuut it also aligns the middle knuckles. That does 2 things. 1. It allows you to control the bat because how your hands are built, the your wrists are set in a stronger position when the middle knuckles are aligned. 2. When the middle knuckles are aligned your hands don’t rotate as quickly. You get more time to hit the ball squared up. If you hit when your hands are rotating the stiffness in the wrist bends therefore the ball will bully your barrel.
I have swung the AXE and the PROXR handles on wood bats in the past and i choose PROXR every time. Ordered 3 Dove Tail Kb17 with the PROXR knob a couple months ago and they have been the strongest bats ive ever used. 100% would reccommend PROXR.
Also, I want to thank you guys for bringing up hamate bone injury prevention in regards to this handle and the Axe handle. While I’ve been a huge supporter of Axe for a while now, and knew about the benefits of it, it’s been very difficult to find open minded people. I’ve actually had the parent of another player on my sons team come up to me and try to tell me the handle made the bat illegal. (So apparently I’m a magician and can re-form composite knobs as well as make a BBCOR stamp out of thin air.) So, thank you for being open minded and willing to try something new. It shows a lot of character. 👍👍
amazing!! i just got hip to Phoenix's vintage style bats! I have all my knobs shaved off! I was able to come back from 30 years of no baseball and killing it at the cages!
the ProXR is AWESOME!! I have been swinging one for a few years and it is game changing. Been hitting bombs with this thing because they got rid of the dumbest thing in sports with the knob. I swing it with my DTB PA20 and have been hitting the ball like crazy. So much better than axe too, doesn't lock you in. 10/10 recommend
If y’all haven’t done it I recommend a throw back to the Easton XL one series. They had a one piece aluminum and a two piece composite that both hit tanks
I have never used this type of knob before, I have only held them. Never had a chance to swing them. But, just from holding one with a knob like this I can say it would of saved my hands for sure being a switch hitter when I was playing. I remember one at bat. I swung like normal and fouled off the ball and just felt instant pain in my hand right where the hamate bone is. The hamate bone is tiny and has a little hooked end to keep one of the nerves in your hand in place basically. But, it is quite week. It is also apparently a common injury with bullpen catchers outside of hitters! You can damage it from just taking any impact to the pinky side of your palm too hard and too often. I never got mine removed, I honestly thought I jammed something. Looking back from x-rays I got just a few years ago. My then doctor asked me if I had ever broken any bones in my hand. I said not to my knowledge. Turned out I had signs of having broken my hamate and 12 other bones in that hand at some point xD I hung a pinky over the knob to compensate for the pain of the broken hamate bone. It does help for sure. Needless to say, this type of knob is not a gimmick. They really will help, I believe Matt Olson from the Oakland Athletics uses this exact knob or a variation of it after he injured his hamate bone. Give a try guys!
You guys should definitely try the Cooperstown Bat. The best one in my opinion is called the hero. It is black with a camo lizard skin. Please try it, you won’t be dissapointed!!!
Ever since JT put that out about his injury I keep worrying about my son he gets really bad blisters on his had with most bbcor bats he has used. But not with the wood bat he uses......With his nuke I took off the plastic that is on the nob when you remove the grip and put a lizard skin taper and seems to have worked a little better for him
You should review the louisville slugger omaha to the solo. I have the omaha and it feels amazing and the ball comes of the bat very well. Really endloaded, but suprisingly easy to control.
Hey Guys trying to catch up to all your vids. Not sure if you did the wood bat madness but did you consider BWP out in Pennsylvania. They are a furniture company that started making bats. They own their own forest. Love your show.
My son (he's 5) is currently playing T-ball and loves it. This is his first year, but we're planning on enrolling him when the next season starts. What bat would y'all recommend for the t-ball and first year machine pitch?
Hey The Baseball Bat Bros, I'm a Sophomore at highschool and am looking at getting a BBCOR bat with a max price of $400. I'm looking for a fairly balanced bat. Any recommendations or suggestions to choose which bat to buy? Edit: I'm 5'11" and currently use a 33" (Would probably look for a 32.5" or 32" bat) Easton bat that I bought for $30, so any bat is an upgrade for me.
Can you tell me if it's a thing or not to orient the grain parallel to the ground, straight on to the ball? The label should be on the side facing up if the grain and the bat are the right way. Or am I smoked?
@@baseballbatbros I was thinking about buying the rawlings wood composite 243, I swing pretty endloaded bats, Addidas aero burner 1 piece and the axe elite one
Was it easier to adjust then the axe bat, or because you have swung the axe bat, you were more prepared for a different knob then the traditional knob.
Hey guys quick question about the goods. I know you guys swing the 33 inch version, but I was curious if the 32 inch is just as good or better or worse. I’m looking into getting one and wanted to know before making a decision
I had a crazy dream where in the future baseball bats would have water capsules inside the bat to create end-load idk if that would work but I’m just putting it out there.
That is actually a common result of people swinging both the Axe and ProXR handle for the first time since you’re able to get the barrel through the zone a tad quicker
