Hiva Oa, Marquesas Islands 4K - Aranui Cruise - Day 8 

Itinerary for the island of Hiva Oa in the Marquesas Islands aboard the Aranui 5:
For the first part of the clip, we travelled by 4WD to Mea’e Ipona near Puamau, one of the most incredible archaeological sites for “tikis” (ancient, human- like religious stone sculptures) outside of Easter Island.
Once you reach Mea’e Ipona, the fantastic guides teach you the stories and hostory of the people and the island. Including the caves on the top of the small peak next to the marae that house burial sites.
Only a small part of the site has been restored and most of it is still buried under massive trees and rocks.
During lunch, the ship made its way to Atuona, the main village of Hiva Oa and the location of Paul Gauguin and Jacques Brel's graves.
The normal itinerary includes the quaint village of Hanaiapa, however our agenda on this trip was altered slightly for the Marquesas Festival.
