At 2.56 Jon Elmer says that by using this reversed Spike missile to attack tanks it could evade tankprotectionsystems. I don't get that. The Trophy system on the tanks of the IDF is a system which reacts on incoming anti tankmissiles independent of who is firing or directing these. Maybe Jon could explain.

I imagine the defence system only works from side attacks, which if you look at the detection system, makes sense as it doesn't look upwards.

@@Numberzerosix It is clear that the Trophy system doesn't defend against missiles coming from above like NLAW or Javelin. It is for that reason that the Merkavas are provided ( not all of them ) with an improvised second roof identical with those the Russians provided their tanks with when it became clear to them that their tanks were attacked top-down. As NLAW and Javelin have a two stage projectile of which the first demolishes the armour and give passage to the second one which is exploding in the interior. By providing the tank with an improvised roof the first charge will explode on the improvised roof and the second one will be blocked by the armour
