@@Championhelmets i just cannot understand why hjc have decided to go back to screws instead of their quick release visor on the i90. All other things considered, looks like a decent lid
The i90 does use HJC's RapidFire system for releasing the visor, which is the same as that on the RPHA 90. Though, true, for the F70, HJC went with screws on the visor, which was a bit of a shame.
Actual numbers shown differ from what was said. To be fair you'd have to take the highest db reading for each helmet and compare them. The I90 was 107.6 at 133 km and the RPHA was 106.7 at 130 km. To say the I90 was 106 and the RPHA was 103 is a little misleading.
Nice information, but for the future please make the video a minute longer, and talk slower. It is sometimes almost impossible to understand you. Thanks.
Thanks for the feedback! We've already been working on this in our latest videos and you can check out the latest scoring of these two HJC helmets in our 2021 Modular Helmet Guide here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WsIX9eDVDSA.html What are your thoughts on the helmets we tested out?
When we test out our helmets, we take them out for a much longer time than is feasible to show in a single video and we take averages overtime. On average, the RPHA 90 came in at 102-103 dB with the airspeed at about 120-130 km/h. Nonetheless, it was a windy days when we tested the RPHA 90. So, we did see higher than usual airspeeds of up to 140 km/h on our anemometer which meant that there were increased noise levels of 106dB. This is one of the main reasons we have the anemometer, since it allows us to more fairly compare our helmets. When we tested out the newer HJC RPHA 90S Carbon, we actually found it to be significantly quieter than the RPHA 90. You can check out the helmet's results here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_b9BtEGNZxE.html
Thanks for the feedback, we appreciate it! The i90's performance given its (also) outstanding price, were definitely a job well done from HJC. How have you found the helmet's performance on the road so far?
Love your name, but I’m going to have to report you to the Thought Police. You’ll have enough time to steal a few cars though, and they’ll only arrest you if you used the wrong pronouns when you called the owners “cu next Tuesdays”.
Yes, these factors will affect the helmet's noise level. We try to reduce this by ideally testing the helmets on the same day, but this is not always possible like in this case. Thanks for your feedback! What did you think of the two helmets?
Thanks for the question! That is currently more or less how we have it on our scale currently since at that level 3 Db does come out as a large difference. Are you thinking of going for the i90 or the RPHA 90?
@@Championhelmets I was thinking i90 but I think I will go for RPHA90. I have a Bell Qualifier DLX now and it's a little noisy. I'm not ready to pay Schuberth prices for quiet but I'll pay some.
@@John_Ridley That's fair, the RPHA 90 should definitely work well in that case. While we haven't tested the Bell Qualifier DLX, the RPHA is hopefully quieter
@@John_Ridley I was thinking about the Bell Qualifier DLX since my dealer really loves Bell. Thats most of their store items. But I feel like Bell is a great beginner helmet, but doesnt have a good mid range to high end modular. You can just get better bang for buck than the Q DLX in my opinion, unless you can get it on heavy sale. It is again, a good beginner helmet. I have used the Bell Revolver EVO for 3 years and I liked it well enough, but too heavy, and the qualifier isnt much better I believe. Revolver has too much plastic and it all has broken over time, including the shield cracking in half. Not from terrible abuse. It looked like the Q DLX was the same build, just nicer in some ways. I prefer to pay more and it seems the $400 is sadly when things finally start to get good.
@@waltermh111 My next helmet will probably be an HJC RPHA 90S Modular. I like the idea of being able to flip it up to expose my face when talking to people, rather than having to take my whole helmet off. And it gets very good reviews.
It would make for a much better presentation if you would stop speaking so fast and in a rambling meter. LO, I wrote this before I even read the other comments. You obviously put a lot of time and effort into evaluations, but take your time so we may better benifit from your observations.
Hi Douglas, thanks for the feedback! We've since worked on the issue, but we are planning to go over these videos once more. What are your thoughts on the two helmets we tested out?
@champion helmets comparing i90 and rpha90 from inside space on same size...is it same or i90 larger than rpha90...example on same XL size...please advise 🙏🏼
Inside, both helmets are about the same size though the i90 is slightly more roomy. Thanks for the question! What are your thoughts on the two helmets?
VERY COMPLEX PROBLEM .... I drive a 2013 R1200GS and I just bought a NEW HJC i90 flip-up helmet at the end of September, and since that moment I have a huge metallic noise that seems to come up from inside the fork, below the handlebars, and the more I accelerate, the more the noise is important until not being able to support it any more around 120 km / h. a friend tried my motorcycle and told me that it had no problem neither technical nor mechanical and suggested to me that the noise was coming from the NEW helmet ..... at first I laughed thinking that he was joking. the next day I drove with another low-end helmet and the ...... no more metallic noise, I put the NEW HJC i90 back on and ...... the metallic noise returned .. .. !!!!, what do you think ?
Thanks. Can you advise what the difference is between the HJC i90 and C91? The i90 is more expensive but I can't find what is better about the i90 vs c91 and if I should pay the extra for the i90. Thanks
The main difference between the i90 and the C91 is that the i90 will be a slight step up. This means that the helmet comes with an improved air channeling system and that it comes with the Pinlock insert included in the box. Thanks for the question! What are your thoughts on the two HJC helmets?
@@Championhelmets HJC fits my head well so I'll probably go for the i90 if it has better airflow. I think it has a bigger visor/viewing area also. I have an FG-17 that is 5 years old with 100,000 km on it and still fits great. I want a flip up next though as I'm riding in Thailand and it is always hot here
Our test rider also found the i90 was on the bulkier side. Though we still haven't had a chance to road test the RPHA 90S (Carbon) and both the i90 and RPHA 90 come in 3 shell sizes, the RPHA should have a more refined overall shape that may help it feel less large. Thanks for the question! What did you think of the two helmets' performance on the road?
@@awangkuakram8371 Unfortunately, we're still waiting to get our hands on the helmet and don't yet have an exact date. However, once we do, we are planning on taking a closer look and reviewing it. Thanks for the question! What are your thoughts on the HJC helmet?
What size did you get? I’m either XS or S and been looking for a helmet that looks compact when on. Thought the i90 would be, but after seeing your comment I’m unsure. I’m also considering Nola n100-5. But wondering if that’s also gonna be huge.
You guys should have more views on these videos, you do put in some time for the tests and the metrics are appreciated. I'd suggest also adding imperial units for weight/speed etc. for the viewers across the pond.
Thanks for the video. I would have loved to see the I90 vs C91 instead :) .. and can you speak a little slower for non native speakers ? I need to replace the IS Max II for age reasons and hesitate i90 or C91
The best comparison for the i70 would be the full face alternative for the i90. When we road tested it, it scored very similarly, though it did do better for noise since it is a full face helmet. You can find the results of our test here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dQcjBj8ib1g.html What do you think of these two modular helmets?
Thanks for letting us know how you found the helmet! The RPHA 70 was among one of the quietest helmets that we've road tested, so this makes sense. How did you find the two for comfort?
It makes sense that the modular is louder, but that is expected for any modular. It is something we accept to have the convenience. Since I am 905 commuter, the practicality is worth the sacrifice. I try talking in full face, it muffles too much, it is nice to get fresh air in the neighborhood as 3/4th style, and good for drive through especially. :)
Hi Paul, on the following link you can find the Shoei helmets we have on our website: www.championhelmets.com/us/shoei/helmets.html Hope you find one that suits you!
