Really nice editing. Looks like you guys had a fantastic trip, I'm very jealous, but maybe one day I afford to do something similar. Guess I should start saving up, haha.
I am so glad at 3am I just randomnly decided to search RU-vid for "backpacking documentary" instead of going to bed. I have been looking for something like this for a long time. I have seen 'A Map For Saturday' and thought nothing could top that for realism in backpacking travel on film but after just one episode this is just amazing. Been wanting to go wandering around the world for so long now. Hopefully this gives me the inspiration to work that little harder in making it happen. I thank you for making this FREE. Truly amazing work man. By the way how tall is that dutch (think he was dutch) dude with the blue coat. Seems like a giant.
Mate, one of the best things I've ever seen on RU-vid. No kidding here. It's all about how close you guys make it feel, it could be me and my mate. Far more better than any other Pro Documentary. Congratulations! Tomorrow I'm going for the next one!
SEriously glad i found this channel, Been watching all your vids, making me so motivated to make money and save to go travelling, im 20 now and want to save 25,000 and travel for 2 years odd maybe longer if i can when im 24/25! Inspiration dude
hey my name is Eva. my friends and I are big fans of your videos. :) we would like to travel around the whole world, just as you and your friends. you are our role models. greetings from Austria ;** (That's next to the Switzerland) :D
The original, the best. Starting my rewatch of HK2NY and have to say this was the pinnacle of your series for me. There was a sense of adventure here that I missed in a few of the shorter videos, superb series Karl!
Me and my husband only recently discovered your channel Karl - we were looking for videos about backpacking Vietnam and found yours. Now we've binged watched nearly all of your videos and love following your adventures. You make creating a documentary look so easy! Its inspiring to see someone combining two of their passions - travel and filmmaking and making a living out of it. 💪 👏
I recently went on a trip to China and did a 11 day tour of Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong in July, 2015. When I was in Hong Kong, I took a 1 hour long ferry to Macau. Macau was an amazing place lots of casinos and a spectacular nightlife. I think you would have enjoyed it.
You guys inspired me so much, when I found your channel it was right when I began my life changing trip to Indonesia. I now live here in East Asia and often refer your channel to friends.
I watched the Egypt episodes first and enjoyed the solo parts. Although now I'm a fan, and wish i seen them in order,t o see the entire plan like in this episode!
Fantastic. All our China memories just came flooding back! The frustrations, the confusion, the amazing people. That is such an intense place and you captured it well. We actually found ourselves really bored with Hong Kong, it was a clean and wonderful place with the nicest people (though no one wanted my husband's sperm) but lacked all the rawness and grit of Asia that made us feel like "Holy shit, this is traveling!" It felt like we were in a Chinatown in the states. I knew there would be a difference in HK vs. the mainland but that gap turned out to be more extreme than I thought. What were your thoughts? Thanks for putting in so much work in to these, it's so important to show the truth in traveling to others and not just the "romantic" images that travel agencies and sponsored trips try to sell others. We're fans. Happy Traveling!
You're doing a great job, very entertaining. Maybe one day we can meet out in the great wide somewhere. If you're ever back in Thailand, look us up! Happy Travels!
haha man I planned to edit some videos today but got stuck on your channel the entire sunday... but it was worth it... after watching all your recent videos i thought i should start from scratch XD the HK2NY series will keep me away from editing the rest of the sunday for sure XD hahaha
Breathtaking, you watch this and you just can't stop. Thanks for sharing this, you guys are inspiration to go and see the world for adventure people like me.
Recently I have finished all your HK2NY Videos and I have to say that your format is so great and unique on youtube. Your short Films are so authentic and funny that I cant wait starting my own Backpacking Trip in November throughout New Zealand and the Eastcoast of Australia for 3 months. Hope you guys doing fine and never stop exploring our beautiful planet and film yourself to give us this awesome Videos ;D I'm so looking forward to see something from Venezuela especially the Angel Falls. Greetings from Germany
You should try to go to provinces Gansu, Sichuan and Qinghai in China!! (Dunhuang, Zhangye, mountains of Sichuan and more) There is so much to explore in all parts of China!! And in Sichuan you can find the best food ;)
On a Karl watson binge. thought I'd start from the beginning. fantastic, but wish you'd covered more of HK. Will you go back? it's one of my favourite places - I've been back 4 times and can't wait for the borders to open up again.
i have now watched your travel series on youtube 4 times. i.. i cant say how much i enjoy these. They are just bloody perfect. Love the filming and the rawness of it.. it is brilliant. hopefully i will do the same travel alltough maybe different in 2017.
Woah man this is an awesome documentary. I can't believe the time you put into the trip and the video. I look forward to seeing all of your episodes. Thanks for making this possible.
I'm enjoying your videos so much that I don't want them to ever end! 😁 The editing, the people you meet, the places you visit - all of it is awesome! Even the ups and downs of the trip; they it made me feel like I was there with you guys. Thank you for sharing this amazing trip with us! 🙇
You guys have done what most of us only dream of doing. I command you both for your courage and ambition on making your dream come true and to share it with us all. Thank you!
Did Hong Kong, Tokyo and Thailand with some buddies last year. Funny to see you guys hit the same spots, streets and exact corners we did. Awesome series, will definitely travel to the other countries on your list because of it! Keep it up :)
wow ! this is an extreemly inspiring video and the editing is awesome ! you wake up the flame in me to travel everywhere and just enjoy the world. btw whats the song called when you started the bungee jump scène sounds so mellow and nice
You would not know this but half of my soul must be with you because we are literally the same person!! You have inspired me to take this trip. Thank you.
Just recommended HK2NY to a mate, it’s my great escape out of the grey London life! I’ve watched the series through a few times now over the years and almost ready to pull the trigger on my own adventure of a lifetime! Keep up the great docs! I look forward to bumping into you on the random and paying you back for all your inspiration; I assume you’ll accept beers 😁 All the best Karl, and cheers for motivating me to work my ass of over the years. Very close to pulling the travel bug cord!!!!
I think one of my favorites , because I can see how much travelling contributes massively to independence and growth in general. I think one of the best work/life experiences to have!
So it's spring time 2023. Every spring I watch this series and tell myself, next year im going somewhere and then I don't. I need to quit procrastinating and just go!
I'm just so envious, it must have cost you quite a lot to do this RTW travel. In this episode, given China's size and vastness, I'd say you have only touched the tip of the iceberg. But really, I normally avoid going to China in these 2 periods: the week-long chinese new year and week-long national day. The crowd you face is sheer madness!
Hey I just ran across this video in my forever search of amazing travel content. I am very much enjoying these videos! I had a question did you get any inspiration from the travel documentary out of Canada called "Departures"?
Sounds a lot like me right now. :) Although I came into some money this year but can't access it until I'm 25.. So slight problem there.. Because of the I was told by my mother that backpacking around the world isn't possible until then. Doesn't mean I can't make a list of where to go though right ? Or get ready to?
Finally get to watch this series. And seeing that I've seen James in later docs of yours.. it interesting to see him at the beginning for his travel experience. He looks so baby faced and so unsure.
how old were you guys when you started your travels? i plan on doing something similar to you guys, i set out in march but slightly nervous i'm going to be old compared to everyone, most seem 18-21! haha
Thank you for your video. You journey was very excited in me that I never been there before. You also is polite character and respect in that city when you were. I always follow and a big fan. Im from TH.
Does anyone know what the life game that they play when you have to do pushups when someone uses the word mine? I saw it in other episodes in this series but I can't find it in this one. Thanks
