DISCLAIMER: It did not actually take me 3 hours to build that, like people are actually asking me why I spent 3 hours on it, it probably only took 2 like damn
Remember kids: If a creepy man offers you candy and says that there is more in his van, you throw the candy at him, sidestrafe around and start an accelerated backhop to escape.
ACTUALLY......if you go up to the top, and get all the way to the end, and take the MP5, and fire ONE bullet while lined up PERFECTLY PERPENDICULAR to the back wall.....the BACK WALL.... . . . your ammo will be decremented by 1.
@@bluewuppo Honestly. Manhacks are the goddamn worst. I've played this game so many times, over and ove and over, but I still can't deal with those fuckers. They're so small, so fast, and so... floaty. I hate them.
When I was playing Half-Life 2 for the first time, I thought it was the vent I have to go through. I spent hours trying to build barrels into a ladder (I am not smart), and finally, I was there. I was there and I was DISAPPOINTED!
I actually climed over the security guard on my first play through because I didn't understand what he said, and didn't know what to do. I climed on top of the trash can, and crouch-jumped over him.
@@MoofEMP back in the day you'd be marvelling at everything around you and you'd definitely be paying attention. This guy had to play it recently, and I assume, like a moron, if he managed to "miss" the first puzzle these kinds of puzzles are sadly uncommon _today_
Fun fact, i actually did the staircase long ago. Took me about 30 minutes lol. If you are on the second barrel, physics glitches out and you are getting wobbely as hell. Also in my version there was a empty wall and just light comming out of it as you were outside
I always try my damndest to explore every nook and cranny in games, ESPECIALLY when it is interesting and they clearly don’t want you there. Invisible walls infuriate me. I break through whenever I can because I wanna explore the map further once I’ve already played like 2 or 15 times. I’ve been some STRANGE places in games for sure. That vent is one of the more tame places, lol. I got in there, and was pretty disappointed. I think the man hacks spawn in there IIRC. I think I managed to get in there before they spawned one time and it wasn’t pretty. (I think so anyway, it was a long time ago. Coulda been I just went in there without realizing there was manhacks FOLLOWING me...
you are so good. you capture the style of "Derpy" comedy without being cringe at all, not even 1 percent. good job, it's not easy! happy to have found this channel
I only played through the game once. After a decade of Halo and other FPS games the combat of this game was still a challenge, and I never got back into it because the enemies just aren't fun to fight.
I remember spending the better half of my day trying to get up to that suit module since I mistakenly thought it was the way forward and even attempted to go up the second vent before looking up a walkthrough and realizing it was all for nothing. Fun times.
Ah i just remembered i tried this on my first play, i used a barrel to climb the entry of the vent, barrel was like *"squash the gordon, just like that"* i broke my legs and drowned in the wall I thought theres a demon in this vent, thank you desinc, years later you would satisfy my curiosity
I spent a few hours trying to get into that vent and up using this method (figured it out on my own, same with the tortuous barrel staircase method) thinking it was the right way to go because I didn't know how to complete the puzzle and was very disappointed.
I used to hop up to the vantage point you usually couldn’t get to in Kleiners lab, and would always watch lammar disappear as he got into the vent. Don’t know why, nor do I want to
Since im stupid i thought you had to get up there to progress in the level and it took me an hour to get up there then another 10 minutes to figure out where i was actually supposed go
This is my second ever comment on RU-vid, I probably made my first on years ago, I too saw that vent, got in there after 30 minutes of struggling or so, was very disappointed.
Holy shit i remember my first playthrough of hl2 and i found this took me like 15minutes to get in that vent dont think it was worth it looking back lol
There is an outdoor part (driving the airboat, find a “Y”, one of which dead ends with a bunch of headcrabs)... I tried to get up into the headcrab spawning area, but was able to barrel-climb high enough onto the roof to see there was nothing there...climbed onto more barrels on the roof (getting barrels on the roof is a bitch, btw) and started walking carefully across the boards to try and access the far wall... Finally died one too many times and rage-boated out of there.
HL2 has bad level design, at least during nova prospekt and the early canal chapters, and this video is a great reason why: This vent during my first playthrough sticks out much more than what you're *actually* supposed to go through. In fact, even before this, I believed I was supposed to make a barrel and crate staircase on top of a truck parked near the ledge the metrocops shot at you from previously. Nova Prospekt as a chapter is supposed to take around 2-3 hours to complete as part of the games overall campaign time, but that's because people like me who were completely new to the genre and game during their first playthrough were so fucking baffled on where you're supposed to go. I absolutely love half life as a franchise and always enjoy playing through these games, but I don't think nostalgia and great story is enough to make up for such poor level design that makes you feel like a rat in a maze even during your 7th playthrough. If you have to look up a walkthrough to get through a level on your first or later playthroughs, that's bad level design.
You would not believe how many hours I spent making a legit barrel staircase just to see what was up there in my first playthrough. One of the saddest moments of my life to find nothing after all that time and feeling like a physics puzzle master.
I actually reached the vent using a barrel in my first walkthrough. I had watched let's plays but i had no idea of that vent. My reaction? "lol I'm such a genius I bet nobody ever did this" :p
Sv_cheats 1 in Console, type in ”noclip” its exactly the same and listig the source games maybe all i havent played everyone of them has these commands
It Also disabled achievements so the game knows its cheats valde wouldent implement that stuff otherwise, like achievements disabled if they werent cheats
I somehow got the game in Russian and I don't know Russian. I spent half an hour doing a very bad form of belly dance before the soldier got tired and started chasing. I guess he hated belly dance.
i reached the vent using exactly the same method yesterday! but i didnt bother to explore the second higher vent,I just use noclip command to check what is there, And yes there is nothing
