HM-01 Ignition Fix Failure

I pulled out the HM-01 because of the part update announcement and remembered that the last time I put it away it had ignition issues. I had no spark with 4.5v and got spark back at 6v but then the ignition unit failed again at 6v. I will be replacing the ignition unit to see if that resolves the issue.

I ran into the same problem, with the spark plug wire on the stock ignition pack being too short to reach up front. I spliced in a two inch long piece of wire to mine, right under the engine, where you can't see it. Another thing, I found a 3 battery pack wasn't enough to give a good constant run with the stock module. I wanted the batteries to fit in the box, so I carefully soldered a cluster of 5 double A batteries to form a compact pack to power the module. This cluster is small enough for the 5 batteries and the ignition module to fit in the wood box.

mine came with an extension for the ignition lead, but I had a unit with a long enough lead so I traded it out, but that unit seems to have failed so I will be digging the stock unit out and fitting it soon.

Of all the videos you have posted I don't think I have ever seen this engine of yours run for any length of time. Others yes but not this one.

It's got about 10 or 12 hours on it total and, while I love it very much, it has been cantankerous and the yellow ignition module I put in it was chosen for having the correct length of spark plug lead. I don't remember why I had that yellow unit spare from the Enjomor in the first place. I will be putting the HM-01's black Retrol ignition unit on it when I replace the yellow unit. I had chosen the yellow unit because I didn't want to extend the short spark plug lead on the black Retrol unit.

I just built mine cannot get it to start, doesn't seem I'm getting a spark at the plug but definitely measuring correct voltage from the new batteries ?? Any ideas.

The ignition system these engines come with is a piece of junk,very weak spark only one snap when they fire,make trying to run them an exercise in frustration,they need a buzz box to run right,I built a buzz box for mine it's the improved version of the old blue engine et1,runs like a different engine with a good ignition well worth doing,also there is room for improvement all over these little engines
