HMD Skyline does not have OIS when recording 4k video which is a shame and it can not do 4k60fps recording, thought people may wanna know that. Also i found haptics and speakers to be very average. I dont really have experience from similar priced devices but for gamers out there, im sure there are better options with more powerful chips than SD 7s Gen 2 5:43 I made editing error, Skyline indeed is on the right despite labeled Pixel 8
@@silentreader77 mostly yes I think so too but for more demanding phone gamers it may not be best option in this price range . For me its everything I need powerwise for everyday use or casual gaming every now and then 👍🏻
In terms of gaming, my brother in Christ a 845 chipset from Qualcomm is enough for high-end android gaming as is. The only thing that's going to change from going higher in performance is your battery life when gaming at this stage. If you want your phone to double as a portable mid-tier PC, THEN higher performance is key, which already can be done with a SD845. And of course the 888 and the G3x gen 1 line. This chipset, is really good for gaming from what I can tell. The stock clocks for the gpu is really impressive and the memory bandwith is good, not impressive but good. Oh and for the love of god it has expandable storage, I have been waiting for the longest time to have a modern phone, at a reasonable price, that comes with the option again.
@@Tectonicia It is very tough market for sure . I think Skyline is smt bit different and hopefully it is atleast somewhat successful 👍🏻 what are your thoughts about Lumia inspired design ?
@@faaheim That is true to some extent for sure but its not always a good thing imo. I will upload vs video with Pixel 8 soonish with much more samples photos 👍🏻 I'm just thinking should I wait for August update to do that or just go with it because I already spent hours to capture plenty shots with both lol 😁
Everybody is waiting for the august software updates before judging the true performance of HMD skyline. However, many big brand feels threatened by now, Nokia is back.
From the result here. Pixel 8 died on the battle field. HMD skyline gets better camera than pixel. And this is the first time ever HMD zoom capability capture better photos and blows Pixel 8 into water. Should have compared to Vivo X100 Pro.
@@zerakyuusama3754 2 years is updates, 3 years security update. Poor software compared to pixel. Subpar cameras. Terrible support. This phone is way worse.
@@நவீன்குமார்-ப5ன the brand Nokia? Yeah maybe, but most of the Android phones maybe they're fast but full of bloatware except Motorola, Pixel, Nothing, etc
Hi. I think i love how simple your video actually is. HMD missed the opportunity to actually give an option for the Lumia style launcher, cos if you're gonna make a Lumia inspired smartphone, why don't you embrace it fully? 🙄😂. And yes, everyone wants to know how its camera compares to the best competitions out there🤭. For me, i think the cameras are quite decent, but I'm not sure if the skin tones might be accurate in different skin colours🤔. I might consider getting one, and make a detailed review on my RU-vid channel. 👍
Interesting comparison. I usually skip watching reviews by others until I have a test of my own so it wont be biased. But had to make an exception for this. My review device will arrive this week. Surpirsed to see the slightly choppy video and no stabilization. It was highlighted that it had hybrid stabilization for video capture. Anyway, August update will bring new features amd enhancement for the camera so i hope its all ironed out.
@@DrNokia_theoriginal well thanks for making exception haha👍🏻 now obviously this was just quick video , going through barely any features in general but I believe video stabilization is only for 1080p mode unfortunately since I was not able to enable it in 4k mode . To be fair it seems alright phone all around but I just can't help but to think it may be bit steep at 499$ for majority of people compared to competition. Well i do like it, even going to replace my pixel with it even tho honestly Pixel is ahead in pretty much everything from camera to speakers haha. Gotta support Lumia like desing!
@@DrNokia_theoriginal thats great to hear! May do somekind of update video after it drops 👍🏻 Should have been there at launch tho tbh because first impressions and wave of videos are so important but still its great news 😎
@@davebalanding Well repairability wise for sure Skyline is among the best phones out there no doubt! Different question how much most people value that Idk
I truly think, if and hopefully if hmd would make version 2 of skyline . They should probably make the side bit more rounded like the 930 , probably use a gunmetal/ raw aluminium body instead of black and try to make the cameras centred without the whole square hump . Then yes we got the lumia design back . Lumia design is pretty much minimalist done right with high emphasis on symmetry.
The device is beautiful, but from my previous experiences with the company, it does not provide support for its devices after their release, and this is something that does not inspire confidence. In addition, the price of the phone is considered high compared to the type of processor in the device.
Yea body of the phone is very much like N9 ✌🏻 unfortunately after using it for a while otherwise quality does seem to lacking considering they ask 499$ for it 😥
@@KimTe63 I'm currently using the Nokia 8, almost 5 years but battery is starting to get very weak now, i'm in doubt between the X30 and the Skyline. X30 is only €250 now and the Skyline is €500 BUT with replaceable battery... I wonder is the X30 more a quality phone?
You are first on youtube, with black version. Thanks man! I think it looks great, Lumia design is still awesome, maybe in next version they will put better hardware to new "Lumia" phones. Or maybe im wrong, is there are any lags, device is slow or something? Greets
Well for everyday use it feels just as fast as my Pixel 8! Have not had any lags etc so far which is great ✌🏻 now if I would do heavy stuff like video editing etc im sure it will feel slow compared to higher end phones . I have to say for 499 this phone should have had better chip inside buut still, it does not feel slow at all
It's so funny seeing phone reviews say that every flat slab phone is a nice design. It's a flat slab bro! They so look the same minus the cameras. Shill....
Ok bro😁 seems like it is smt away from you if others like it lol .. most phones these days are very round corners and this is smt bit different from the norm . Don't really know what your problem is
@@taryarwinhtet7653 thanks for watching ✌🏻 I may consider doing more if I have time 🙁 it's pretty much all down to that 😁 anyways battery life from my early impressions seems pretty good
That's good to know I m very interested in buying this phone if they would be willing to sell the business edition with 5 year of security updates to me individually.
@@taryarwinhtet7653 Business edition should be available to everyone 👍🏻 well I don't know if everywhere but here in Europe seems to be and is priced at 579€ instead of 499€
Strange that only get 2 Android versions updates, then 3 years of security updates. I suppose it's not that back but as my Pixel 6a is coming up on 3years old and working fine I'd want at least 5years of OS updates, versions and security.
Have you noticed the screen brightness going up and down slightly when loading apps, getting notifications etc, mine has just gone back because it was doing this and the adaptive brightness was off
I noticed it, when I was updating apps, which I do everyday, after that just being on Facebook would cause it to go up and down, I had mine on 87% brightness, fiingers crossed I just had the runt of the litter, getting my replacement tomorrow
@@gamerblackops Ok that sounds weird , im gonna try to replicate that issue on mine and see what happens 😁 I barely ever have brightness that high unless it automatically goes there. So you had manually set it to 87% and it does that ?
@shuhailrone5947 ummm why can't? Those are surprisingly close even in price my friend but against "flagships" is exactly what people wanna see Skyline against im sure
@@v_spread_smile_6088 Well in this case that was exactly the point lol when i said i let audience play along to decide which they prefer without knowing heh😄 guess you just missed me saying that. Will likely upload vs video against Pixel i have been working on and in that one everything is labelled right away and not switching 🫡
@@passion8gamer759 well yea I guess but at this point , does that name hold much value anymore? I think its good idea to start moving away from it and try build their own brand 👍🏻
