Lumia had bazels on top and bottoms, now they have to stretch the screen to top and bottom, also because of too roundy screen corners. But I'm sure the phone looks beautiful when the screen is off
It's all great until the price tag showed up. Flagship price with mostly midrange specs, and only 2 years of guaranteed android update is kinda lacking these days
Oh I freaking loved the Lumia aesthetic on this. Glad to see HMD reviving this design. It's not a bad phone at all, hopefully some polish over a few generations and we'll get a really competitive phone from them. Nice one! 👌
$500 is a bit too steep for what it is especially compared to other phones in the same price range. It should've been $350-400. The stock Android is a big plus for the Skyline though.
the last part is recorded with selfie cam? looks decent and glad they are still licensing OZO. Can't go back without OZO after experiencing it on Nokia 5.4 and X20

Dear GSMArena, you really do forget that rivals have tons of bloatware which is hard to remove on the phone. HMD alongside Pixel, Motorola and Nothing has great Android OS experience with neat interface
A 'Modern take' on the iconic Nokia N8/N9/Lumia then... A Xenon flash might have been good too 🤔. But... I sooo wanted to like this, but, I just can't...😒 (Price for the Chipset, OS support, Battery...). Looks like Nord 4 for me then.... 😎🇬🇧
The most recent build update (00WW_1_380) added 4K recording to the selfie camera, and you can now record in 'Steady Mode' (hybrid OIS/EIS) across all of the rear cameras in 4K 30fps.
I have a Nokia X30 with longer Updates than this new phone? Nokia/HMD promissed to deliver long Android Updates so the customer can run their phones as long as possible. But 3 Years? Then i will get a Pixel phone. Because you can flash them with LineageOS after the offical Updates are gone...
In my country, this is 599€ directly from HMD. For a phone that should cost 250€ at best. For the same money, you could buy an S24. Or import a OnePlus 12 from TS. LITERAL flagships. Why buy a midranger for that price?
HMD have contradicted themselves so hard with this phone. They have taken the old path to make the phone, good hardware but poor software. These days, it doesn't work.

@@wilsonmpesha904 The unit previously known as Nokia Mobile Phones. With the mess with Microsoft I think many think the actual Nokia unit was disbanded but no, after some manouvering it’s now HMD due to copyright naming reasons among others.

Repairability is good but it shouldn't be a main feature of a smartphone. And they really need to up their software optimisation game specially with image processing algorithms.
Removable battery instantly got me interested. I miss that functionality more than ever. HTC was the first Android Manufacturer to kill the removable battery. It is also the reason why they went from being dominant and #1 to being irrelevant.
i hope Nokia and HMD can keep up with other mid-range phone...who know someday Nokia can achive Flagship-killer smartphone with 16GB Ram 512Gb Memory with expandable memory slot, more durable screen Super dynamic Emoled (120Hz), 5 unit back camera combine with Sony lens, 120x zoom (OIS) front Dual Camera 16Mp , chipset Powered by Snapdragon 8 gen 3 with 4 major update..battery 5000mAh with 120Watt ultra fast charging...Stereo speaker Tune By AKG or JBL, but this just my imagination..but i hope Nokia and HMD can make flagship-killer and beat all competitor..
Love the repairability aspect, however it will lack in support. Although i love the old window phone styling, i feel they missed the mark. I hope they consider a price reduction
And Google in order to remain in the competition created it own hardware. Nokia should have done the same. Once achieved no device can beat Nokia on the global market
The volume on my Skyline became low when using Bluetooth earbuds too, however I received a build update earlier this week which seems to have fixed the issue.
If this was £299, it'd be a no-brainer, but at £399 it's a tough ask, I'd rather save for a pixel 8 for the seven year OS updates. Also, why are phones I'm encountering nowadays not able to hotspot WiFi but mobile data?!😅
Gsmarena: we think Pixel 8a is a good contender for HMD Skyline. Moment later: upon looking at review posts, and careful analysis, the HMD Skyline 2x camera captured more fine details compared to the named Pixel 8a at $499. we need to find another contender..... Yup,the 2x zoom on HMD skyline is far more impressive but the 3x zoom is lousy, all eyes on HMD skyline's upcoming August update that will fix the camera issues.
Lol, the geekbench scores show that the Pixel is slower than a 7 series chip. I havent paid attention to this stuff in a while. How is Google still doing so poorly?
Nokia was doing good a couple of years ago you know 6.1, 7.1, 8.1 great phones, superb software, premium built, competitive pricing, Zeiss optics on the Camera. They basically ticked all the boxes And then after covid they suffered a memory loss or something like that and just forgot the fundamentals 😂 I guess the Nokia Curse is true
