Hmong Mouth Organ "Qeej" with Mr. Kongyeng Lee 

TAEC recently hosted young Hmong musician and novice instrument maker Mr. Kongyeng Lee. Kong and his music teacher, Mr. Neng Chue Vang, visited us as part of the “Meet the Musician” series which invites musicians and instrument makers from across the country to share their personal stories, instruments, and traditional music with museum visitors. After the event, Kong introduced us to the Hmong mouth organ or “qeej” and the different components that make up the wind instrument. Watch as Kong plays an endearing ballad about a musician teaching the music of the “qeej” to others. Incredible! Thank you Kong for sharing your passion, knowledge, and music with us!
