Have fun on this build, John. 👍 What strikes me first is that I don't really like the three piece ribs on this kit. Seems a bit flimsy when compared to an OcCre kit. However, once you've added more components I'm sure it will be more robust.

Thank you Buck! I had the same feeling but when you add some more reinforcements the skeleton becomes solid. The only problem is the 3mm of the pieces. They should have been 5 or at least 4mm.

@@JohnsWoodenShips yeah thats what i was looking at too. I think its going to be hard to plank it if you dont have strips of wood that covers the length of the ship

A great ship and one of the inspirations for a very famous ship and futuristic franchise. Captain James Cook took the HMS Endeavour on a 3-year voyage of discovery, the first voyage launched for purely exploratory purposes, to seek out new worlds and civilizations and boldly go where no one had gone before. It was the first ship to have a science officer on board. Captain Cook died battling native warriors in Hawaii so bravely to save his men as they made their escape that the Hawaiian chief made an effigy of him and hung his clothes on the effigy (after they ate him, which was a gesture of respect!). Yes, Gene Roddenberry was influenced by the story of the Endeavour to create Star Trek and the Enterprise captained by Captain James Kirk on a 5-year mission to the stars...

@@JohnsWoodenShips And the infamous Captain Bligh of the mutineed Bounty was Captain Cook's first officer! When he visited the Hawaiian islands later on board the Bounty he saw the effigy of his former captain wearing his uniform.

Hi John. I had the same problem no paper plans. You probably know already that you can download the plans from their website. At least you can zoom in and out on a phone or ipad. Enjoying the videos. Cheers

I see on the box it's painted White. In other images I've seen it painted dark blue. Have you decided which colour you will paint it? Either way I'm sure it will look great. I'm interested to see how the way this kit is put together differs from the OcCre kits. For myself I think I'll stick to OcCre for now. 😊😊

JOHN I made a photocopy of the cd and it is easier to follow. It will take longer to find the steppes from the computer.

Thank you very much!!! It has the same 3mm skeleton and a lot of paint. Great level of detail but 800 euros is too much.

From what you had build, what do you think is close in details to Santa ana? It should be from Occre or Artesania and in the category of the big ones. Hi John, finally you embark on HMS Endeavor from "New" Artesania. Even your "unboxing" video raised serious doubts about the quality of the kit in me. Hopefully the 3-piece fuselage frames with the accuracy of fit shown will comment on themselves. I would think it would be great if you built an Occre HMS Endeavor parallel to the Artesania HMS Endeavor to make the quality differences clear.

Hi Uwe! It is different, you will see later on that the model has some reinforcements and eliminates the twisted hull issue.

Always exciting to see the start of a new build. And James Cook’s, ship is a great choice! Not having instructions on paper for a plastic model, would be OK but for a wooden tall ship, would probably discourage me, from buying this model. What company manufactured the kit?

Have been looking forward to watching this build. I am tossing up between buying this kit and the Occre kit. I'll decide based on what you think of this kit as you build it. Not sure I like the idea of doing the rigging based on the CD photos. One thing I'm sure of is your kit will turn out beautiful as usual . (Hi Wolf!)

Hi Greg! I know the quality of OcCre and i am finding out the new Artesania. I haven't form an opinion yet, it too soon. What i can tell you is that some steps are harder that usual but it guides you very well. We will see how it goes while we move on with the build :) What i like best so far is that this kit has it's own lighting kit :)

@@JohnsWoodenShips The lighting should look very good. I have the La Fayette Hermion from Artesania. I ended up printing the instructions to make it easier. But so far the instructions have been easy to follow. Have a great day. :)

Bonjour John je suis heureux de voir que vous faites se projet avec Artesania sa me permet de faire une comparaison .Les 2 bateaux que j’ai fait sont avec Oc Cre ce que je vois à date pour la structure ne fonctionne pas vraiment pas moi et comme je. vous je l’ai déjà dit j’aime mieux avoir de grands plan papier mais j’ai la chance de voir d’un grand maître cette construction peut être qu’à la fin je changerai d’idée. Yassas John, ti kanis? If I am not wrong, AL provides also a LED lightning set for this model. Do you consider use it? Nonetheless, I will also follow this build. Good luck on this new 'endeavour' - intentional pun/wordplay :))

Bonsoir John, Me voilà de retour pour voir la réalisation du HMS Endeavour, qui va être un sacré travail, je suppose, et qui va être plus compliqué que le Titanic. Le plus par rapport au Titanic est qu’il contient un kit LED. Quand je vois l’assemblage des parties des couples, il y a pas mal de jeu, ça doit compliquer le montage avec précision. J’ai le même constat pour l’assemblage des couples sur la fausse quille. Maintenant que tu as un peu plus d’expérience sur cette maquette, quelle est la qualité d'Artesania Latina par rapport à OcCre. Bon courage pour la suite et à bientôt Yves de Lille (Nord de la France)

Hi Yves! It is more difficult than the Titanic and this one has the hardest hull i ever made. i haven't build OcCre's model but because it comes with an open hull it is very different than this one so i cannot have a correct opinion in comparison of these 2.

Ah John . I see you are getting a taste of the new Latina system of model building. I have just completed the L' Hermione by Latina. I will NEVER build another kit by this company. Too many cost saving changes like CDs with no paper plans or instructions, many small pieces to make the frames. And other things that you will discover along the way. The CD isn't bad until you get to rigging. In the Hermione kit they use photos which are hard to see the connection points. enlarge the pics and they become blurry. Want to check out the parts list , you must close down and open another part of the CD. and then find your way back again. It wouldn't be bad if they offered paper plans for an additional charge, but that was not the case with the Hermione. The dead eyes were so poor that I could only use half and had to buy replacements. They did not show foot ropes on the yards so I put them on anyway. I could go on, but will say good luck. I hope you have better luck than I. PS This build will be on You Tube sometime tomorrow.

Hi Gordon! Up to the point i am i am using the PDF as the parts list and photos for the construction. For the rigging i won't bother with the photos, i have downloaded pdf with the rigging the old fashion way(from another kit) , and i will print them on paper when i get there. The rigging is impossible without paper. So far i do not like the 3mm skeleton pieces and the fact that there are none of sapely and walnut wood strips, only paint.

When assembling these frame elements I included the deck beams as well to ensure that the whole frame was aligned. This cannot be done in all cases as you will see that there are elements that need to be installed before the deck beam can be permanently mounted. In those cases I taped the deck beams in place. All the frames were glued in place with right angle blocks assuring alignment in both the vertical and horizontal planes. I have to agree that Artesania did not do a great job with these critical parts of the kit...

Yes this can work too. It is a pain in the ... but it will do the job. Yes the final outcome won't be twisted but the frames should be different.

I'm pretty sure you could take the CD to a local professional printing business and have it printed on large paper. They'd probably be happy for the business

May I suggest a very good carpenters glue Lepage pro glue with high initial tack. It sets up very quickly. The only drawback is that it has a yellowish color when dry.

The white glue works fine, you just have to wait 3-5 hours.

This kit looks like a very poor quality, with too many money saving ideas to keep their production costs down... I won't be bothering to buy any of these, i will stick to Occre kits

It is not of poor quality because i have seen the poor quality kits but also it is not premium like OcCre's.
