Don't retire these great workhorses please. Keep them going - they're still viable even if just used closer to home or in lower priority jobs when the Type 26/31 appears. We need these beasts with their boys & girls to keep going in these dangerous times to increase our surface fleet.
Why exactly not. The RN hasn’t got the budget or manpower to keep them going, and use the 26s, 31s abd the 32s assuming they don’t get cancelled. The Greeks were planning on buying a few but they switched to buying brand new french frigates. Better than sending them to the scrap yard
Oh I’m not saying they’ll be sent straight away, apart from anything else the first 26 won’t be in service for another 4 years, and as per the terms of the treaty governing the use of the bosphous straits, neither Russia nor Ukraine can move ships into the black sea by the end of the war. But the war will end, probably by the middle of next year. And Ukraine will need a navy.
@Royal Naval Study We have already sent warships to Ukraine, Russia has threatened to take action after everything we have sent, and what have they done, nothing… Empty threats, we could send frigates with no repercussions and the government knows that
There is a Specific Border Force for the UK which to be honest is stretched to breaking point and is not helped by all the stupid Civilian protocols which the UK's Government enacts. They are so Incompetent that management of the Border force has been handed over to the MOD.
I think this forward deployment is good, save on time and fuel from moving ship back and forth while crew actually serve a shorter deployment of 4 months instead of the usual 6 or more
Good to see Britain doing their bit to ensure security around other places that isn't that backyard, just wonder if they will disclose cost of this fwd deployment.
More young people should join the armed forces, it's a great life - as long as some of the misguided people in charge don't push CRT and gender in your face. Always remember that you are part of a fighting force there to defend us, you're not a social experiment.
@@uniqueslave1540 I'm inclined to believe the Russian Navy would perform to a similar level as their army ....but if you wanna believe your still special go ahead
