This segment demonstrates texturing the tree trunk and bark while forming the tree. I also include building up a "vignette" base coupled with a short commentary.

Hi Boomer, I've been looking everywhere for the "rake" you use to texture the tree bark without success. I've come close, but that tool looks ideal. Thanks, as always, for your channel and the time and effort you put into it. Mark

Boomer, thanks for all you've done for the modeling community. Personally, I've learned a crap load (including a healthy dose of humility) but most importantly, the idea to try things and not worry about the outcomes. If they work, great, if they don't, you've learned something too. Thanks for your previous time!

Fantastic. The time you take to build up the layers is already starting to show the quality of the final product. Easy for me to visualize. I've always gone for, the most modeling hours per dollar spent, and you sir have mastered it. Very well done tutorial. I appreciate the time you take in production.

You should check out their "glass- bead" medium as well if you are into doing water effects. Makes for unreal rapids and moving water effects for streams, rivers, etc. You just paint the wood surface and then layer on the glass bead medium with other clear acrylics, etc. Cheers. - Boomer.

Hey Boomer, great series on the construction of the trees, really enjoying it. Definitely a process for the feature scene. Being from the lower mainland myself, I am curious which local hobby shops you frequent. They are a dying animal, Central Hobbies is the closest for me being on the North Shore.
@boomerdiorama
@boomerdiorama 3 года назад
Central Hobbies is the only real Railroad Shop left in the Fraser Valley. I used to do big business with them and a few others back in the day. I have not been there for a decade at least. I get my general hobby supplies from RC Pitstop in Langley. I also order my model train stock online from back east now. The selection is hard to beat. Prices are very competitive as well. It`s so easy from my office. Otter Valley Railroad Hobbies (Canadian). They have a great selection, shipping is great, and I don`t have to drive into town.

Golden want to sell that for Broadway but it didn't pass the New York Fire department Flam test. We been using a roofing product called jaxsan for 15+ years. If it dries on something your not getting it off and yet you clean up with soap and water.

Did I miss the video where you created the skeleton of the cherry tree? It seems to have been built differently than the others, not around the stem wire or a wood trunk.
@StefanBartelski
@StefanBartelski 2 года назад
e.g. what length and gauge or wire did you use. Are the branches wrapped on or are they truly branches of the wire?
@boomerdiorama

Not sure if I covered the Cherry Tree. It's the same twisted 26 guage wire composing all the branches with static grass added as well. Cheers.

when you fix the static grass to the glued armatures, is it out of a static grass applicator or just sprinkled on by hand.

I have used most of it, in one way or another, over the years. You have to use the products in order master the medium. I mentioned what was special about the medium in the series. In other words, you need to apply the practical. No practical, no experience, no mastery. Yes, there are loads of options available for the user for sure. Cheers. ~ Boomer.

I am not quite sure. I may have picked it up at Opus Art Supplies. If you can`t find one, pick up a cheap "Oil Paint" (coarse brush) and randomly cut some of the bristles out.
