I remember JC Penny catalog.. and that section for women lol. But they did always showcase the slot car tracks.. especially the night glow. You’ll have a lot of building kits if you want in this scale.. if you choose.

I've got an approx. 4ft x 4ft HO track that folds up into a wall cabinet when not in use. At the time I lived in a very small house and the idea was my father's. God rest his soul. The track was 1960s Tyco track. What is so unique about it is the surface is smooth as glass. It was built in 1978 and made in the Tyco "S" era. I'm curious what the surface of your track is like? Smooth, textured?

Awesome track Boone …..been following your channel for awhile…..you helped me go from a sheet of plywood to a rural F1 track/ layout….loving it so much….I to themed it after Road America but only started with a 4x8 size base….used all my model motoring track and it runs well….couldn’t copy the exact same track but like what I did….anyway enjoy your channel….always new stuff to learn…..maybe down the road I’ll add on…..shure does help the winter sail by in Milwaukee….. thanks Charlie

Fantastic booneman you are the man. I love the way you take the time to explain in a humorous way how the heck you create the layout. Are you going to incorporate support legs so it will support your weight? The only thing that sucks is now I have to wait for your next video. Great job my friend seeyah soon I hope

Hi on your table frame are those 1x2's? I ask because they look skinny compared to what I looked up for a 2x2..Thank you in advance. Greg
@BoonesSlotCarGarage
@BoonesSlotCarGarage Год назад
No they are 2x2’s , 1x2’s unfortunately do not have much structural strength. Now that I have moved. I’m thinking of rebuilding the HO table . I would like to have a bit more structural strength. The table tends to twist some when I raise and lower it.

@@BoonesSlotCarGarage Hi oh, oki, thank you for clarifying I'm thinking it's how the camera angle is hitting it. Thanks again. I'm off to build my layout. Best, Greg 🤙

Hi Boone, what type of cars do you prefer the Carrera or Scalextric?
@BoonesSlotCarGarage
@BoonesSlotCarGarage Год назад
Quite honestly I feel they are very close in comparison. But that is because I’m running a Scalextric track as well . Carrera cars need a little bit of mods to run correctly on a Scalextric track, “the guide “ .. but as far as the way they perform out of the box is very similar , Carrera do have a bit more speed . The details on the Carrera cars are a tad bit better as far as trim and the authenticity. They both are very smooth running cars. The big difference in cars happens when you step away from these two manufacturers and start planning around with the smaller car manufacturers. The boutique brands as I like to call them 😂. This is where you start to see a real difference in the different manufacturers quality and performance of the cars. And this is mainly do to the fact that Scalextric and Carrera build their cars to perform on their plastic track. The other guys might build with a plastic type track in mind or a wood router style track. And with this will come faster motors , lighter chassis, much more adjustment as far as performance tweaks that can be made to the car to get the best performance or to customize the car to fit your driving style. Huge subject 😂.. but like any type of racing, it’s best to run simulator types of cars together. Meaning, it would be an unfair race to run a Carrera car against a NSR , or a Revo Slot . They are just too different kinds of animals. Sorry I started to ramble on 😂.. but to get back to your original question. Either manufacturer , Carrera or Scalextric are a good basic car brand that are very similar. It’s kinda your preference . It’s like Chevy or Ford 😂

@@BoonesSlotCarGarage - Thanks Boone that's really helpful. I'm grateful for the information on the cars. I had no idea that there were other manufactures on these other than Scalextric and Carrera. I watched several videos on guys building their own cars, which almost all that do recommend that the hobbyist should eventually get into (that's down the road for me - no pun intended). I really have enjoyed pouring over you videos. Thank you for posting them. This is an amazing hobby to get into.

@@michaelchenevert3363 thanks Michael. I highly recommend looking at the other manufacturers out there. It opens up a completely new level to the hobby. Plus some of the other cars out there are incredible as far as details and performance.
