My HOA not only charged dues, but even continued to add late fees even after I told them I lost my job due to COVID. Will never buy a home in an HOA community again.
I understand but it's like when people say they told their landlord they can't pay because if this but that landlord still has to continue to pay the mortgage on that building so it's not fair

It is sad that HOA's scare me and I've never owned a home but have special needs members in my household and I've heard so much negative about HOA's behavior towards special needs families.
When I was looking for a new house a few years ago, my number one requirement was I absolutely would NOT live in any house that had an HOA. I lived in one in the early 90's. Never again.
Most - I have seen two that were great, never bought a property with an HOA without research. (Always let people know why I wasn't interested in their home at any price)
$60 for just that one neighborhood 148 residents - that’s $8,880 From just that neighborhood. Over $100,000 a year. These big Corporations need to have our back. If it wasn’t for us.. they wouldn’t be getting money. Smfh
I didn’t pay much attention to this story but HOAs do have costs like to have a security present around the community, pool and park upkeep costs, street cleaning... they just don’t pocket that
They aren’t profit making machines. People living in an HOA need to pay attention to the budget, as well as posted income and expenditures. When people don’t pay attention to what’s going on in their community regarding money then they only see it as an expense. If you don’t know how the money is used then you assume it’s spent inappropriately. Every common area and element in the community requires maintenance and periodic replacement. If no money is collected for such expenses that are the responsibility of the Association then the community becomes a slum over time.
HOA's make a ton money. We pay a company to fine us. We also pay them to send out a mouth breather to take pictures of "infractions". HOA's need to be abolished.
This is the first HOA that actually has a nice person/community working together. I’m shocked. Their needs to be more people like him behind the HOA title, makes for a closer community. 💙💕

We live in a society where this is lauded as an achievement for people. Where hearing this makes us feel like there's hope. Yet it's just sad that this isn't the norm.
I know this is almost a year old, but a news outlet in a major market should know that an HOA would "waive" (refrain from insisting on or using ) a fee not "wave" (to raise your hand and move it from side to side as a way of greeting someone). That being said . . . good on this HOA for the way they seem to take care of their members.

Reserve funds are actually not for unexpected expenses. They are earmarked by law to be for planned replacement of things that are past their useful life. An example might be replacing the pipes for a swimming pool filtration system or community mailboxes that are needing repairs too often. It is technically called a “Replacement Reserves” fund. It is very important. Without a healthy fund in a condo, for example, when the building(s) need new roofs and there isn’t enough money in the Replacement Reserves fund owners get a special assessment bill to pay the cost. Those special assessments can be in the thousands of dollars 💵 sometimes.
I didn't get the impression any of these were condos. And many HOAs have huge reserve funds unless particular boards make a lot questionable decisions on dinner meetings, conferences, and the like.
@@chrisfoxwell4128 master associations have reserve funds also, often meant for replacing playground equipment or other parks amenities. Landscaping replacement of trees if needed are often in that category too. If there are insufficient funds for replacing those items then special assessments are required to pay for them. A healthy replacement reserves account is essential for a financially stable association.
On the rare occasion an HOA may appear to be competent that can go south real quick with changes in board members . The cost of a home and property taxes and already being governed by municipal bylaws from a town or city is adequate . No need to pay additional fees so neighbors can tell you how to live with additional layers of frivolous rules.
There should be a provision in the HOA formation documents giving the HOA the authority to waive dues under certain circumstances, including waiving or forgiving dues for some member but not others, upon recorded vote.
HOA's are good for stuff like Condominiums. They turn into a sword that cuts the other way when you start talking about houses. People got to take ownership of their amenities though. The pool expenses do not disappear if you own the pool in your backyard just because of the virus, the pool in the HOA is the same sort of expense. A proper HOA can plan for the unexpected things if they are doing the job right.
Sun City HOA has some questionable operating habits. They continue to fine residents on matters that have been corrected several months ago, and refuse to answer/respond to phone calls, or letters to try to resolve matters. They are either unwilling, or unable to resolve matters efficiently. Neither of which helps the community. The current administration should be replaced with a complete new board.
It's good to see a positive move from a HOA for a change! I've seen and heard so much bad from them that I'd never consider one but it's good to see it's not 100% bad.
Vistana on Durango, (first service residential )FSR is charging homeowners $220 a month. They recently increased it from $175. Now they want to increase it to $30 more. $22 penalty if payment is after the $15th and $6 if you use their rep on the phone to make a payment. $200 in penalty if payment is received after 90 days???
Homeowner Associations can foreclose on homes for pennies on the dollar without the homeowner knowing that his house is being foreclosed by using loopholes around the notification process (this violates the 5th Amendment, due process of the law). Lobby groups hired by large investors support these laws. Please join the benevolent Senator Spearman, Representative Thomas, D'Silva, Brown-May, Gray, and O'Neill in supporting the new Nevada bill S.B. 175. This bill requires homeowner associations to abide by strict guidelines and foreclosure requirements, especially when foreclosing on seniors, veterans, and the disabled.
HOA Open your Bookkeeping to all of those that contribute. Elect 5-6 of these same people to administer funds when needed. Have monthly planned meetings to look over what exactly you are doing. simple.
Vote to disband the HOA! Fire the property management company. The majority of the subdivisions in America do not have an HOA, and all of those communities are great! Stop believing these lies that the HOA is telling homeowners.
I wouldn’t get along with an HOA😂 let someone try to foreclose on my home cause I slip up, they would loose money for sure. It would start with weird smells, the world’s largest fart bomb would go off while I’m on vacation. 😅
NO H.O.A'S in my future, but I love watching these videos but feel sorry for all the homeowners that have to put up with this kind of Harrasment from their H.O.A
Every thing still has to be paid for. You can only do that if you have extra money. It depends on the board. I always tell them we must govern with compassion. Our management company did not close. But I made sure every budget I did for my communities not raise their fees for 2021.
I understand the point of this is to make them look bad but they still have to maintain the hoa common area when people aren't there. What I dont agree with is that they make people pay a fee to do the online transactions that's just wrong because it save the hoa money but not the people.

I'd never pay a fee like that. Its ridiculous. I don't need a pool. I go to the beach. We mow our own grass, & no one tells us what to do on our property. Oh my! There's a basketball hoop! How terrible! Sorry, but HOAs are a complete waste of money.
Why would anyone pay to be a part of a HOA? I don't understand people looking to be oppressed and fined. Why buy a home and then have others tell you what you can and can't do with it?
Im curious why do people buy property thas govern and policed by other people than them, its your house no one can tell you what to do well excluding the banks. Why do you guys spend ur hard earned money on a house with hoa in it. Deep down inside you must like being told and govern by other people cause thats the only explanation i have for people buying a home with hoa in it
surprised these ppl have such nice homes then cry about a couple hundred a month in fees.... if you cant afford prescriptions or food you cant afford your house!!!
