This hoarder hasn't cleaned his house in over 3 years! What sort of horrors will the cleaners find....
Louise’s home is all about order and run like a regimented ship with all nine children and her husband falling into line. Dust is tackled several times a day and fingerprints are banished from every surface. Her children follow the strict household routines meaning there is never a toy out of place. To maintain her impeccable home Louise is in complete control of every part of it; mess and dirtiness are completely unacceptable. Louise hope’s to learn how to not clean so much and make some time for herself.
Louise will be helping Paula clean her chaotic three bedroomed home. Paula’s home has become a giant toy box for her 3 year old son with his belongings scattered in every room. Her home is overrun with random objects, piles of paperwork and dirty dishes. Paula has not deep cleaned her home in 3 years and feels overwhelmed when she tries to tackle it. But Louise’s no nonsense approach soon starts to ruffle Paula’s feathers.

There’s a massive difference between being untidy and being unhygienic. These houses were filthy and germ infested. However,the obsessive cleaners also live an unhealthy lifestyle as their lives have been overtaken by constant cleaning and fanaticism and they all need some sort of therapy to help them. Both extremes are very sad and there’s so much to be said for a happy medium!

To some extent the extra clean house or environment is also a sort of hazard. I'm thinking that the immune system needs a bit of a workout here and there. But yes, you are right, either lifestyle comes with a lot of emotional baggage and inherent sadness.

The OCD cleaners are like Sisyphus eternally pushing a boulder up a mountain. They'll never stop germs existing, they'll never get to a point where they can stop cleaning, they're just stuck in an endless cycle achieving nothing and not living their lives. It's extremely unhealthy.

Paula was simply lazy. Being pregnant isn't an excuse for not cleaning. Having pets and a kid living like that, is abuse. I have 2 dogs and if they have an accident (diarrhea happens), I will smell it in my sleep and wake up and clean it. Even if one doesn't smell it immediately, clean it the next day. I deep clean once a week, but I make sure that my pets and I, have a clean home to live in. My dogs go on my bed, so the bedding is changed 3 times a week,even if I wash their paws every time they go outside.

@@Sillygirl2315 I have health issues and was disabled for quite some time, still kept on top of my cleaning even if I was in excruciating pain, every single day. I understand stuff can happen, but I also understand that when one has an illness, any type of illness, it can definitely be exacerbated by clutter and dirt. I have 2 autoimmune conditions and if I lived like a pig, my conditions would definitely worsen. Paula didn't seem to think it was a big deal that she had pets and a child living in those conditions and that is definitely abuse, to force someone to live in such a home. Her child can't clean for himself and the cats don't either. The cats vomited and pooped everywhere, because the whole house was like a bathroom to them. If you have a child and pets, this is not how you cherish having them in your life. This is not the way to show someone you love them. I'd never do this to my dogs,because I love and appreciate them way too much and I know that they enjoy being clean and living in a clean environment.

Louise has got my back up already, saying that she 'can't understand why other people can't do the same (amount of cleaning)' as she does. Some people aren't well enough for a start! My house used to be clean and tidy when my children were young and I had a husband and had to cook and clean for them. But now I'm on my own, and I hardly have the energy to get up some days. I do as much as I can, but some days it's as much as I can do to wash and dress because of chronic fatigue. My house is a mess since I moved last year, and I hate it, but everything takes me so long. But I wouldn't want one of these obsessive cleaners anywhere near me. Louise needs to learn a little compassion.

I agree that Louise was very judgmental, but Paula was just lazy, phlegmatic and sarcastic - that will bring you nowhere in life. If you have a child you are obligated to provide a clean and welcoming home for it - there is no excuse for that! Having several open cat litter boxes distributed everywhere is just a no go with kids around. I also found it incredible that instead of focusing to clean and tidying herself and thereby setting a positive example, she thinks her 4 year old child is old enough to clean up after himself😠

Strange with the insuranceadviser's home. Such state would have potential to draw bugs and mice. I think it's partly of being prone to postpone things. He had put jars in a box to have them to recycling but then thebox remains in the house for years. But I like Tom's approach to the task at hand, he had the person who lives reflect on not being able to use the space for what they're intended for. It's a great and respectful way to a person who struggled with depression and not being able to get started.

She is managing an eleven person household. Just doing the laundry, ironing, cooking and doing the dishes (that can’t go into the dishwasher), never mind picking up after so many people should take at least 4 to 5 hours a day. I don‘t think 6 hours of cleaning is that extreme in this instance. With 11 people in the house, daily cleaning is absolutely needed, or the house will look like a dump after 2 days. I don’t think an 8h/day job is possible or advisable with 9 children, as the younger ones do need minding. Her husband works and I think the family gets a monthly stipend for each child until they are 18 (at least you get one here in Germany, I’m not quite sure if that’s the case in the UK), so with smart budgeting she should get by just fine.

My psychiatrist said its mostly due to both my major depressive disorder and anxiety mixing with my OCD, but I have no idea how to make the first step to clean my room. My parents have attempted to help me but I just make it messy right after. I can't handle it and it makes my life feel out of control. If I could stay clean forever, I would do whatever I could to do so, but I just can't change, even with my meds.
@lifeofbeautyk

So besides meds. What have the doctors done to help you with your diagnosis? There's so many tools and talk therapy that can help. My suggestion is to start slow. Go find some good books. Look on youtube for people who have overcome what you have and what they did to do that. Also, just start where you do one thing a day. Even if that thing's just making your bed, it slowly helps build your self esteem. With anxiety/ depression and ocd, sometimes you overthink things, so try not to think about it, just get up and do it. My own personal experience was becoming a christian, and it really helped transform me. I no longer suffer with a lot of the mental illness/ PTSD I had as a teenager and young adult. I'm in my late thirties now. But I know not everyone is open to that.

Louise has her own set of problems. The minute she walked out of the house - everyone took a deep breath. About to watch her walk into the house. It might kill her. Lol Okay. Been watching. Both of the women together. I know it’s edited to create a story.

You can get kids to pick up their toys by making a game of it ... just have a big toy container and play throw the toys in the container!! My kids loved it when it was a game ... and they both have clean and tidy houses now they are in their 30s!!

mental health is a very valid excuse for not tidying or cleaning thats one big reason. been there so many times and its so easy to fall into a habit and hard to break, and once things get too much its so hard to know where to start, and its easier sorting and cleaning stuff that isn't your own, i can fly though stuff in my work and some of it is nasty. so don't judge others louise. my sisters cat litter tray is in the bathroom but it gets cleaned every day and is the covered box kind with odorising litter and any litter gets hoovered up. also come to my work the floor gets hoovered once a month because theres no time and theres always so much stock to sort plus only a certain amount of staff. and no we cant just hire very little people want to do the manual part of charity work people often just want to do the tills and be paid. donations need sorted and tagged and put away according into seasons and if hanging they need cheacked tagged sized fixed steamed before they can be sold, rubber banded if shoes and put away for next season or kept out but after tagged and sized shelved. and thats only the start.

OMG, that womam with 9 children doesn't realise that other people want to do other things in life, besides clean. I'd have been 100% tolerant with her need to clean until she asked why others can't do that. So perhaos her cleANING MEETS HER NEEDS AS AN EXTREME CONTROL FREAK (excuse caps).

Also, not everyone is the same. There are different forms of OCD and it’s not just about cleaning. Most people don’t understand that. I‘m also an obsessive cleaner BUT I also suffer from other OCD topics that are extremely exhausting. And those are not about cleaning. She obviously doesn’t understand that there are other disorders and mental illnesses that make people live the way the hoarders do. It seems like she’s convinced that her way of living is the ONLY way. Really self-centered and rude.

I have a great cat tray system. Use a deep storage box and fill with 3 inchs of cat litter. Remove all poo immediately by using small freezer bag placed over the hand grab the poo pull bag down, twist and close bag. Pop in the bin. This will drasticly reduce odour and freshen up the litter. Plus your cat will appreciate it.

@noth9617
@noth9617 4 месяца назад
@@jadevu904I've only watched the intro but I feel bad for her. You just know Paula was feeling bad for the other ladies kids while she was talking about what they're not allowed to do and where they're not allowed to go. A mentally ill person telling another person who's probably mentally ill how to live their life. I have 4 kids and 4 cats and 2 dogs. My house isn't immaculate but it's clean. I have a robot vacuum which is a godsend and my kids can pick up the floor for the robot they know they have to put away anything they don't want sucked up. 🤣 The cat litters have to be plentiful so nobody has any accidents but most cats only poo once a day, immediately after you feed them breakfast and clean their wee litter so if you do it once a day after your morning chores are done it's more than enough, even with multiple cats. And no, they don't innately stink, if you can smell your cats they're marking because they're territorial and need more enrichment or you need to clean the litter. Simple. Just make it in your morning routine right after you put your first load of the day on. My morning routine is- Let the dogs out and feed them, feed the cats, empty the dishwasher, put a load of washing on, put the dry stuff away, clean the cat litter, let the cats out into the run, feed the kids breakfast, stack the dishes and clean the kitchen, put the kids lunches in their bags, take them to school. The robot vac starts while I'm out and cleans after I'm home. I get back and have the day to potter and do bigger tasks as needed. Shopping, mowing the grass, watering plants, making beds, doing a hobby, going to the gym, walking the dogs, reading a book in the sun with the cats (in their catio) etc. it's not impossible to stay on top of it. 6 hours a day is absolutely bonkers.

I'm a recovering lvl 3 horder. I woke up one day and realized it. Funny how I didn't see it before. I started out removing 1 extra bag of garbage a day until 90% of it was gone. Then started in the kitchen throwing out things I didn't need or use. It took me 6 months to clean out my house. It's still not perfect but you can move from room to room without stepping on or bumping into things. It's still a work in progress and I have to remind myself that I never want to live like I did before.
