Hoarder House Flip ( 

I’d gut the entire house to the studs, re-wire, re-plumb, and overhaul the HVAC. Probably won’t make any money but it is what it is.

Some bad DIY jobs are worse than buying a gutted house. This is one of those. Not even the sheetrock is salvageable.

Just level this place! What a huge mess! Niki needs to put you in time out for this one!

That is a electrical nightmare, and probably a plumbing nightmare too. Mark, you are doing that neighborhood a really big favor flipping that house. This deal makes you a hero.

Not many people would be up for the challenge of this house.

I saw it the first time you walked through it and had bad thoughts…now I’m having even worse thoughts. That guy that did all that custom work just didn’t have follow through. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I can only imagine how he’d lay in his custom bed at night with one brilliant custom idea after the other popping into his creative brain….after waking in the afternoon, he probably went out back into his sweet organized backyard…grabbed some equally sweet bits and bobs and bam….a new project is started, then another, then another. I mean why not, you have all that great stuff out back, why not use it to turn your builder grade home into a custom one of a kind house. If he just had another 50-60 years there is no telling what he could have done to that home. He probably should have sent in some videos to see if he could have his own DIY show. 😳😳😳 Oh my…I can’t wait to see how this works out for you Mark. I hope for the best, but I’m planning for the worst. P.s. don’t touch anything in there if you want to live another day.

Just gut that dump and start over !! All the mechanicals in that dump are compromised need to just start over with a clean slate ! That way you know everything is done right !!

Safest bet would be to go down to the studs. A complete fire trap till you re wire.

This may be my favorite house yet. The 'Danger - Hard Hat Area' sign really ties the room together.

Thing is, if someone like you didn't come along to turn this place into a habitable structure, it would probably just rot right there. No one wants THAT in their neighborhood. You definitely have a lot of work ahead, but in the end, the neighbors and next owners/tenants will appreciate you. Can't wait to see further progress.

Gut job all the way. New electrical, new plumbing and HVAC. Who knows what handywork may be lurking under the drywall, I would even replace windows and doors, add a three quarter glass entry door to brighten up the foyer. The living area and kitchen looks cramped and dark, open it up, maybe add another window. That backyard is an absolute nightmare.. I see four, maybe five more dumpsters.

Okay Mark you got my house's previous owners beat with this one. I laughed so hard at the ceiling tiles! I can relate to that nonsense. I really really feel for your contractors. You are definitely helping the neighbors with this one.

Oof - get out now, flip it as is and minimize your losses. This looks like a complete teardown to the studs and sub floors in all rooms. Even after the next two/three trash out dumpsters, you will need another two/three dumpsters for all the tear out and removal of the previous owners DIY work. Maybe it will truly be Internet gold and make money on videos, but this is more than a flip - its a complete rebuild and reconstruction.

This will be fun watching the Frankenstein house transform!

Mark, I have been following you for years now and I must say this is the worst house you have purchased. Wow, talk about the DIY these people did on this house plus what it must have been like having them as a neighbor! This will be so interesting to see this one come together. Good luck. You should be on "Help I wrecked my house!" On HGTV. The house is gonna need at least 60 hauls.

Besides Mr DIY, who else lived in this house? Were there any other human occupants? It looks like you're going to have to go down to the studs. And some lucky electrician and plumber are going to have to untangle that giant mess. Also, nice gaps in the outside wall where that stone was attached to the siding. You can see the outside from the inside on a couple of your shots. But once everything's gone you will no doubt be able to reconstruct a decent and safe house, I hope. *In one of those bathroom shots, what's with the regular outlet right behind the faucet handle?!

I have a friend who bought a home sight unseen without knowing it was an hoarder house. She was very lucky everything was in Fairly good condition she just had so much work. Removing everything hauling It Off she had to actually use a scraper on the open kitchen area but it turned out well because it was beautiful tile underneath all the filth

This house makes me sad. I feel that the person was a do-it-yourself handyman with average skills who made the house (in the beginning) to how he liked it. But as time went on, and his mental faculties started going south with hoarder syndrome, he lost the ability to realize what was dangerous and not. So sad.

That house will cost a fortune. Talk about a sound investment 👌🏻

Interesting I haven’t seen a split foyer with a garage added quite like that one has. Man that’s gut job City. Judging by them floor joists late 70’s or 80’s build.

I agree with the other comments saying to gut it to the studs and redo everything. Based on what we see on the outside - what we don't see is probably more scary. Oh, and the steel wool was probably put in place to prevent rodents from coming through. Good luck on the flip. Maybe you can owner finance it and get a little more of a premium price?

8:30 Lol. I think that swinging wall with the perforated board is a tool caddy. If I'm right, it's layered so you swing it out to get the stuff behind it. Very nice if done correctly...which that one wasn't so much.

The way the house is set up, I wonder what the previous owner was doing.

How much does it cost you to rent all those dumpsters, and have them delivered and hauled off? I recall when I was a child, that my grandparents had a kitchen cup- board door post, with markings of my growth. Sweet that they cared enough like that, to sacifice their door post for me.

Bought at $247k and hoping to sell for $380k. A hundred and thirty three thousand sounds like a lot money. Your present trash operation is the first that needs completion- the house inside needs to be empty so the reno can take stock first- this house never had central air, just heat, for instance and decisions need making now before any new wall or ceiling work is done. Get your plumber and electrician to go through all the fixtures in the house also, before any new finish or wall work is done. Not only the plumber but likely the gas utility has been there- that was a different gas regulator, probably where the smell came from. Love the "custom work"- especially that stone work across the front of the house- can't wait to hear what that will cost to make spec. On the $130 k; it may be short a bit to a lot, it depends on whether you want to directly finance two or three politicians retirement funds or fix the house. With you, I betting on fix the house. FR PS; The small section of wall you thought might be the "important bit" is a list of births, deaths, anniversaries- but is was "affixed to the property in such a way as to need further demolition to remove intact"- it's info he should have taken much better care of in the first place. Still think you need to look into this bunch- still feel like it was at best a repair shop for laptops and some home appliances, your seller didn't live there but had homeless folks living there as "security"; this guy won't have paid sales taxes or income taxes likely. I'm going to take it you have already gotten title insurance- several sorts of gypsy tradesmen do just this, moving once or twice a year, and not always bothering to buy the property, if you get my drift. Listen to that lady in your office- at least knock the price down to half what they asked! You have the makings to start at least two new junk yards right there!

That place looks like a disaster. The first house I bought was a repo, and we fixed it up, lived there for a couple of years, And just moved up. Repose were a good way to go. That hoarder house, it’s more than I would take on! Yikes!

They definitely had a lot of ideas with this house, but probably had no idea on how to fulfill them. Something I noticed they had USB plugs throughout the house. That bluish gray door in the dining room, I don't think you showed what's behind it. I got one for you, I'm used to calling the Master Bedroom the Master Bedroom or Master Bedroom Suite. But, as of recently individuals think the term needs to change to Primary Bedroom or Primary Suite, what's your opinion on that change??

I just purchased another house flip and having to wait for previous owner to move out after I closed on the property... hopefully they move out when they should lol

Another cheap way to get rid of it is to load a 26 foot uhaul and take it to the dump yourself. For us it ended up being 3 x cheaper than the dumpster option. More manual labor though, cause u have to drive there and empty it yourself.

That place was trash before it was trashed. I'm looking forward to see the corners cut during the rehab.

Mark, the house is yours now. You refer to things and "enhancements" as "they have" as referring to the previous owners work or things done to the house. You might feel better about making the purchase if you drop those terms from your dialog. I think this house will be beautiful once it is all renovated.

Mark, not trying to be a buzz killer, but I think your going to be ahead of the game to gut it down to the studs, remove all that crappy rock work in the front and either wholesale it out or redo EVERYTHING and break even or hang on to it for awhile and lease it until you can make a few bucks.

This looks like it was a “grow house!” All those lights, wiring, plumbing in strange places…betcha some illegal “plants” were growing inside. Thus, the insane wires in weird places. Just imho.

every time I see it there is something new... that pressure test gauge is reading zero so you got leaks or he didn't pump it up. these people had to be crazy.. its like looking at art in a museum from someone who was crazy.. and trying to think what was in their head.. I hate to say this but that looks like a straight line of tweaker ville. This reminds me of a friend of mines house, exactly the same except 20x worse. He lost the house big time. They gutted his house down to the studs, not sure if they made much money off of it?! Real estate agent had it done right like when it was new. My friends house took 6 house dumpsters to get it right it was a nightmare & no I don't have any ties with that guy anymore he's in prison somewhere. Good place for him in my book & neighbors happy after 5 years of living with that mess.

Think you will make the basement tool room into 2 bedrooms again? If I counted right that should give you 5 bedrooms. I think this house will be pretty cool when you get finished but I have my doubts about how much profit you will get. Still, this will be a nice house when you are done.

Just wondering how much would a house like this profit if you just sold it as-is on the MLS? Sounds like a lot of work for not much reward on this one for me (other than the YT content)
