You have a lot of patience, helping your parents is obviously frustrating, however you are moving through slowly and it gives them the chance to see the benefits. Once they see clearer spaces, I pray they will start to see things differently. And who knows? Maybe there will be enough empty cupboards to bring some bulk items from the garage inside, to make it easier for your mum to access them and see what she has. I hope she's feeling much better 😌
@MarielaMerino

Thank you! Yes exactly, would love to get that stuff in the kitchen so she can actually use it rather than sitting in the garage. She's feeling better now thanks you🙏

Wow Mariella, you are a very patient person! Good work today. I was wondering whether it might be worth finding all the medicines in the rest of the house to put in the kitchen cabinet as well so that nobody feels like buying more when they can see all of what they have already. (I'm just guessing that there might be other places where they are lurking!) Best of luck xxx looking forward to the next video xx

Yes - I vote for a series, you have great content for one and also helping your parents at the same time. It's a win, win and enjoy watching. Suggestions; get some free cardboard boxes to sort things into; as you're pulling things out of the cupboards, put all "like" things together in separate boxes. You'll see how many of each item you have and can downsize easier. You're going to find "like" items all throughout the cupboards as you move through the kitchen. Also - a trip to the Dollar Tree, pick up maybe 5-10 plastic bins that fit in the cupboards to contain "like" items that are being kept. All the medicine can be put in a plastic bin or shoe box with a lid & one for the batteries. One of the cardboard boxes can be for items that belong in other rooms or to other family members. Make a few boxes for donate so you don't have to handle all the donated items multiple times. Boxes can be set aside till more cupboards are gone through. The cupboard above the oven - could put another shelf in their, better use of the space or save it for larger appliances that don't get used all that often, roasting pan, etc. Don't know the layout of the kitchen, but if there's enough drawers - give one to your dad for the tool items he likes to have in the house, items can be separated with bins, etc. It looks good, you sure got rid of quite a bit. And....up to 3 spider count so far - ha ha ha...

Thank you so much Linda!! Dollar Tree has great bins to organize things with. Would be nice to get some for organization. Not sure how my parents feel about it though but I'll ask. 3 spiders total not bad haha. Have a nice day!

Your parents are so lucky to have you helping!! I can see the difference. I added little boxes to my cupboards for when I take things down...like that one section you have with all the medicines. Helps so much for ease of access. This will be a great series. Also congrats on your book Mariela!!

I truly hope you are getting an opportunity to educate your folks about keeping so much and especially about outdated stuff. It would be so much easier for them to keep house without being so overwhelmed. I've wondered as I've watched these videos if some professional counselling would benefit them.
@MarielaMerino
@MarielaMerino Год назад
As much as I educate them and show them how great it is to live with less, it is mentally hard and that part I can't help with. Counseling would be great but they are not the type of people to believe in that unfortunately.

Eventually, I would find a clear plastic shallow bin to corral the small medicine containers. It is so much easier to pull out the bin, find what you need and then put it back in the cupboard. Otherwise the stuff tends to get toppled over and buried.

Hi Mariela! Good job helping your parents declutter, I am doing the same for my mom. One very important thing. Do Not bin any medicin. It should Always be turned in to a pharmacy (or other facility) for destruction. Raid, thay you put back in your dads cabinet really shouldn´t be in the kitchen, it contains toxic stuff.

Improperly stored batteries can start a fire. I can't imagine living in that level of chaos where nobody knows which ones have never been used and which ones are totally used up. The Battery Daddy storage case includes a battery tester. I was going to suggest you buy it as a Father's Day present but your dad might need a portable tool box instead!

I see that ur parents have a lot of meds for digestive issues. They should see their primary care doctor & get referred to a GI doctor (gastrointestinal). I am truly being sincere & not trying to bad mouth. Please tell them to see their doctor. There are certain GI issues if not treated and/or identified can cause cancer in the long run. Great video.
